I got this to replace a super old Paperwhite. I wanted the page turn buttons, the warm light, and the waterproof. All those are great, and it feels great to hold. The only reason that this isn’t a 5-star item is that it does not support DRM-free ePub flies. Which means I have to convert and side load via USB. If they added native ePub support it would be perfect. But for most users that buy from Amazon or use library books, this should be a perfect reader.

Traded in my 6th generation Kindle PaperWhite for the new 2019 Kindle Oasis and I am very pleased with the new unit. Ease of use, great build quality and picked up a case for it. The customer service rep from Manalapan NJ store was very helpful and made the entire shopping experience worth the drive. Overall, I am happy Mohave finally upgraded to the new Kindle, worth the price and it was on sale.

I believe it’s a good device, especially with these navigation buttons, but two points have to be mentioned, first, the price is too high, and also, I believe the kindle paperweight is still more handy and useful if you want to take it outside to read, and if someone thinking to have it for home use only, then add the extra few dollars and buy the kindle scribe, , for a better screen!.

It has words, some big, some small. Some put together in a sentence, some not at all. Intuitive adjusting screen, zoom, and resistant to glare.

Overall I really enjoy this e-reader. The physical buttons are very nice to still have. I love physical books, but you seriously can't beat being able to carry around a few chick lit novels with you on vacation. I ordered a very cute case with a stand from another retailer and now I'm rockin'. I went with this version because of the physical buttons. No accidental turning like I did with my paperwhite.
This is definitely a luxury not a necessity but it's nice to have.
Negatives: Expensive for what it is (honestly). Lack of USB -C charging port. Hopefully the next version they update!

I am the first time to use the Kindle Oasis. It is wonderful to use Kindle Oasis for my reading levels because there has a word wise as a vocabulary builder. It's hard to understand words, but it keeps up until understanding the word. I hope this Kindle Oasis is long use for more than one year without any problem with Kindle Oasis.

This thing is amazing. Thinnest (on one side anyways) reader they’ve made. Thicker on one side where all the hardware is I’m assuming but it’s ok because it makes a nice place to hold the device. Sharpest screen ever, with the most even lighting too I would say. Was skeptical about buying this given the price tag, but it’s obvious they’re putting a lot of effort into improving these e-readers and making them the most comfortable (digital) way to read books. Oh and also very very snappy, you don’t realize how slow your old readers are until you pick up one of these bad boys! Fast!

Bought this to replace a 4th gen PW and could not be happier. The extra screen real estate is awesome and the amber light is a game changer: a lot easier on the eyes. Having more LEDs than the Paperwhite means that the light is a lot more uniform on the screen (uneven light was my #1 pet peeve on the Paperwhite), and the flush screen, physical buttons and form factor are really nice.
The only thing I wish it was better is battery life, as it definitely lasts less than the PW.

Cutting right to the chase: the adjustable color temperature screen is the greatest advance in Kindles since self-illuminating screens were introduced on the first Paperwhite… period, full-stop. And, at least for this reader, there’s no going back after trying it out. It’s that good, and that much of a game changer.
With both warmth and brightness (they have separate controls) turned up to about the midway point, reading on a Kindle transitioned for the first time from merely reading words, to the experience of reading words on a paper page in a book. This might sound like “Who cares?” nonsense to most people, but if you’re in that small minority of the public buying a high-end Kindle, you understand what I mean, and it’s that kind of difference that you’re paying for.
The new lighting also transforms the experience of reading in a completely dark room. On existing Kindles, I could never find quite the right light level. If it was as bright as I wanted it to be, that felt too harsh on my eyes. But bringing brightness down to a level that felt comfortable seemed too dim. Now, by simply increasing the lighting warmth on the new Oasis, you can have brighter light with no harshness in a dark room, making reading much easier on the eyes.
Finally, I’m happy to say that Amazon seems to have (finally!) nailed the quality control issues that have plagued new Kindle lighting systems in the past: No splotches. No dark spots. No shadows. No weird color casts. Just smooth, even, beautiful lighting across the screen.
So, is this the perfect Kindle for me? No. The perfect Kindle would be this new 7” screen in a Voyager form factor. The ergonomics of the Oasis are still not great for me, although my satisfaction with the new screen appears to make the annoyances matter less. The 2019 Oasis is not only a keeper for me, but I’m actually trading in both my Voyager and original Oasis.
