I have been using the Paperwhite for years. I Was really interested in a lighter and waterproof kindle option. BUT the battery life sucks!!!! I used to be able to read sometimes for hours at night without having to recharge. The Oasis doesn’t hold a charge for very long. And I feel I am always charging it! It does say somewhere if you average about half an hour a night it will last a long time but who only reads for that long? Plus the clicking of the one handed page turn can get annoying (according to my husband) also you can accidentally turn the pages if you do hold it on the wrong side. But you can turn off the touch option but it’s still bothersome.
Overall I am Disappointed!!!

This is perfect. I carry mine 24/7. Super fast also. Only downside is the battery life is not good. I have to charge at least once a week no matter how I use the settings/light level.

I bought it for reading outside and the supposedly longer battery life. While I love being able to read it outdoors while I watch the pup play in his swimming pool, the battery life is no better than the kindle fire if you're an avid reader. It does recharge faster though.
