    Wife loves it

I bought this for my wife who happens to be a librarian (I know, ironic). Her library has something called Libby, where she can rent "digital" books for a period of time and return, just like physical books. She likes this because she doesn't need to lug around heavy books and track later for due dates and whatnot. It took some research to bite the bullet on this. For the price, it made me more hesitant because nobody could give me a straight answer whether or not Libby worked for the Oasis. I got a lot of mixed answers, but in the end I went ahead and bought it anyway. So, for anyone asking the same question: does Libby or Overdrive work for Oasis? Yes, it does. But, it does not install Apps. You would have to setup your libby account and make Amazon Kindle as your default reader. Then, as you rent books, it will send it to your Kindle account and you can then download it to the Oasis. According to my wife, she likes the comfort of holding the Oasis in one had, and if said hand gets tired, you can switch to the other hand, it reorients that page itself. It is light weight, and the battery seems to last a good while. She has not had to charge it since the first full charge, which is a week now. She has had many kindle products before, but this one is by far her favorite!

    Amazon Kindke Oasis

I have to be honest I’m crazy about this little gadget. I love the fact that it connects to my Bluetooth headphones and I can fall asleep listening to a book or music. I can download books, audiobooks and music on my iPhone but everything I downloaded takes up space and causes my system to run slow so I figured it might be best to get a devise strictly for reading books. If you are a parent I would not advise sleeping with both headphones in your ear because you will not be able to hear anything outside of those headphones. That device is expensive considering it’s size. I don’t think you can download any apps outside of reading nor have I tried. To my understanding this tablet is strictly for books. It does not get as many pop-ups as a regular Amazon tablet and the pop ups are normally book recommendations. It has a light sensor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth you’ll have to purchase your own headphones. The battery life on this device is amazing I charge this device want since I purchased it and I want to say I’ve had it for a month now. If you have a book nerd in the house this is a perfect gift idea. All the books have to be downloaded over Wi-Fi but once there on your device you can listen to them anywhere. This device only comes in one color.

My Oasis is durable, handy, portable and fun

I sought and bought the largest e-reader of Amazon, as that if I wanted a tiny reader, I'd just use my phone (which I do not enjoy reading on). If AMZ made a bigger e-reader, then I'd get that, but this Oasis will do for now. It is terrific! Highly portable. And I can make the font larger on my e-reader than what is in a normal-sized-font 'real' book, so that is nice. I am experimenting with adding notes and highlights, too, for biz books that I am reading for my continuing professional education, for me to later write a report about. I have dropped this in the hot tub at the gym, and it was nice, for the first time ever, not to fret about my electronics and water! And since I am on monitors all day, every day, that emit that toxic blue light, I am so happy that is not the case with this Oasis. This light-weight Oasis is great for travel and for backpacking.

    Finally we can invert colors

I had the amazon paper white which was great but sadly I started developing an eye sight problem and needed to have my whites turn black and the paper white didn’t have that accessibility option so I traded in for the oasis which yes is freaking crazy expensive when it’s what repellent etc but I needed the inverted color option and it was lighter than the paper white to hold which was good. Otherwise I love it

    Worth the price

I upgraded to the Kindle Oasis in Champagne Gold from my Voyage, and was hesitant since I love the sturdiness of the Voyage combined with the haptic buttons, but I'm so glad I took the plunge! The Oasis is a lot faster, the physical buttons are great and it's easy to use with one hand. I only have two minor issues that are so small I can't even justify knocking this review down to 4 stars. One, a small part of my screen near the top (or bottom depending on how I'm holding it) is brighter than the rest. It's noticeable when the Kindle is booting up and when I'm reading in the dark, but not noticeable in daylight, which is when I'm usually reading. Two, the "champagne gold" color honestly isn't a huge stretch from the usual silver color -- when I saw the champagne gold was coming out I decided to wait until I could purchase it, but in hindsight I would've been fine with the silver. It's a really pale gold, so pale that I think calling it gold at all is a stretch. Still beautiful, though. I will say that I'm still a bit nervous using the Oasis without a case, which was never an issue with my Voyage or my Paperwhite. It's probably sturdy, but the thinness combined with the metal back makes me really nervous about dropping it. Overall, I really love the Oasis. If you read a lot and have some money to spend, I think the Oasis is a great purchase.

Love my new Kindle Oasis. Owned a Kindle Voyage before. Had it two years. This is much nicer as being wider it is easier to hold. Love the variable backlit and tint features. Champagne colored case back is just as attractive as the black case back.....only 50 bucks cheaper. After all...if you are going to put your Kindle in a full cover front and back case....who cares if the back of the Kindle is plum purple....you can't see the back of the Kindle when it is in the case. Has all the bells and whistles except cell phone capability. Who in their right mind would want a cell phone in their Kindle e-reader. After all.....99% of us already have a cell phone.

I am not sure that this kindle is worth the price for everyone. However, I am pleased, and for me, it is better than the paperwhite, which I think is a fantastic reading device. First, it is important to understand that I am a crazy prolific reader. My number one leisure activity is reading. I read hundreds of books a year. I don't watch TV, I don't do social media outside of work, I play with my animals, I tend my fish tanks, and I snuggle with a cat on the couch listening to Amazon music and READ. I have carpal tunnel in my right hand and moderate arthritis in most finger joints from years of working with horses and hitting my late fifties. I LOVE the button push page turn., and the fact I can turn the oasis upside down, so the page turn is on the right or left side as my choice. This combined with the touch screen works with my hands better than the hold and swipe required by the paperwhite. Is this worth $150 more than the PW? I'm not sure for many folks it is, but for me, it works better and as my primary leisure escape, it was worth the money spent. Also, the page color is great! It really does help my eyes stay fresh, and limits fatigue!

A MUST HAVE FOR BOOK READERS

This is a birthday gift from my husband and since then it's my favorite. I carry it wherever I go to, it's easy to get books from Amazon even with different formats. It's the most expensive version among all kindles but totally worth it. The light is adjusted automatically, it has different functions like notes/dictionary/page setting/wifi/wiki and so forth. I enjoy it every time I read it.

Is this premium device worth it for your use?

Awesome device. Is it worth the premium price for your use? I love the 10th generation version with the warming lights and dark mode for night usage. But with more even LED lights to be even, it uses more power. It's very slippery, more than anything ever before, so that's got to be fixed. I love that I can turn off the touch display and turn simply back on by turning the device off and on. That helps with reading at night. It works in landscape and portrait mode.

I had the Paper White for many years. So handy always having a small library especially when I am staying with friends or on a cruise. When I lost it I decided to up grade to the Oasis so that I can have a black screen with white letters. I love it especially when reading at night, much less light than the traditional screen

    Love my Oasis!

I had a Kindle Paperwhite that died after getting rained on when I was in vacation last November. So for my birthday this year, I asked for the Oasis. I was a little hesitant because it cost so much more, but I absolutely love it. I like the larger display, the page turn buttons (you can still swipe to advance pages I f you like that), and the feel of the Oasis in my hand. It has a little ledge to grab onto and you can use either hand. AND, it’s water resistant so I don’t need to worry if I get caught in the rain again!

I purchased my Oasis right before I went on a cruise a month ago. I was so impressed by the clarity of the screen, the light weight of the device and the complete ease to turn a page that I I recommended it to my sister. She went out and purchased one immediately and has been extremely pleased with it.

My son wanted it for me because I'm attending grad school and I read quite often. It is lightweight and the words can be enlarged, Because it is waterproof, that is great because I can take it anywhere. I had order my case on Ebay because Best Buy does not carry the case. It was really inexpensive - $13.00.

I never thought I would enter the world of readers until I purchased the oasis and decided to spend double for speed and looks. This ereader allows me to read and do so much more. I love how responsive and sleek it is compared to others. Also, it is waterproof and has many nice features such as automatic dimming and xray. This is most definitely my new favorite gadget and the color is beautiful!!

I am very happy with my Kindle Oasis and love that it is backlit, making it easy to read outside in the sun. The only downfall is that it is difficult to find cases for the device and it is thin and can easily slip out of your hands. I wish I could find a case that would protect it from being damaged if dropped.

The oasis is easy to use, easy to read and I love the page turning buttons. It flips from being a right hand hold to a left hand hold and the page turning buttons stay in the same order. Love that it is water proof and the adjustable back lighting and anti glare glass make it perfect to read no matter where you are.

    Overpriced for what it offers

It was time to replace my old 3rd gen Kindle and thought this would be a nice upgrade. I've used a tablet to read as well, but I find e-ink devices easier to read for long periods and with much less glare. Pros - The device feels solid, and the thicker side with the battery makes it easier to hold one-handed. It's fairly responsive and downloads books quickly. Cons - The automatic light adjustment doesn't work well. It would often turn up all the way in a well-lit room or outside and would turn almost off in a dark room. More than once I had to reboot the device because it would lock up, especially if you try to queue up several book downloads at once. The page turn buttons would sometimes change several pages instead of just one (this appears to be a common complaint). The touch sensitivity extended almost 1cm into the button area by the screen, which often caused me to accidentally flip pages if my thumb moved too far over. The same extended area did not exist on the other side of the screen.
