I originally purchased the basic Kindle and found that I often read in low light conditions. So I returned my first Kindle and upgraded to the Paperwhite and I'm really glad I did. I feel it is well worth the upgrade. I opted for the version with ads. They don't bother me. In fact I hardly notice them.

I purchased a new Kindle because i sat on the last one. I was trying to decide on whether to get the paperwhite version, and so very glad i did. The ability to add light during periods of shade with bright sun behind or at dusk is really a great benefit

oh my gosh so love this kindle - I was not going to purchase it at this time but I could not pass up the price - and the advances it has made over the previous kindles. this one has a lot more bells and whistles and is much easier to use! and the lighting is much better with this one too!! so glad I bought this kindle

Nothing beats coming home and reading at night before going to sleep. Plus not having to take the extra space for each books.

This was a gift for my wife who loves to read. She loves it. She said it is way faster than previous version

I bought myself a kindle earlier this summer and love it so much that I decided to get one for my ten year old. I thought she was spending too much time engaging in mindless activities on her phone and computer and thought this might be a good alternative. She has responded surprisingly well. One feature that I really like is the dictionary. If she comes across a word she doesn't know or can't read, she can tap on it, and the dictionary will pop up defining the word. This enables her to use her inference skills to decode the word or understand the meaning better. This has been a nice addition to her bedtime routine.

The new version has 300ppi, which is the same as the voyage. There is no reason to pay for extra $80 just for the page press.

This is my third kindle. I mainly bought this one so that I would be able to read on the beach. So far I really like it.

He loves to read his books through this kindle. Not to complicated and easy to use.

Bought it for my wife for her birthday. She used on a trip to Europe and loved it.

Was a Christmas gift for my daughter in college, so she hasn't used it much yet. But seems like it should be good for her.

The recharging port is not working consistently. I have tried other cables, so I know it's not the cable. Otherwise it works fine. I am looking forward to not having to charge it but once a week.

kindle was exactly what we expected, the lightweight and sleek design works wonders with our heavy commute.

If you like to read your Kindle in the sun by the pool like I do, you really need this little gem. No glare!

I purchased this as a gift for my bookworm daughter, she loves her kindle, she is constantly on it and has read many books already. She loves that she can read in the dark especially on long road trips, thanks to the back light. Also you can check out books from the public library awesome.

One of my major issues with e-book ls is using screens and the annoying glare. While the paper white still isn't a printed page it does a good job of getting close. With the backlight optional it retains the benefit of being able to read at night too. I love my iPad but prefer the Kindle Paperwhite for all my e-books.

I love my kindle because it's so convenient when I want a new book. I can download it right away from the device and even check out books from the library. The battery lasts a long time. I've only charged it twice since I've had it and I read almost every night. I keep it on airplane mode to conserve extra battery.

I previously had a standard Kindle...the battery would no longer hold the charge. I wanted to replace it but be able to read in dim light. This feature is great. I chose the paperwhite because the screen did not glare like the Fire. It took some getting used to since it is all touch screen, but it has a few better features than the original. One complaint is that it sometime jumps further ahead than one page, so you need to pay attention when moving to the next page. I recommend it for someone who wants to use it for reading only.

I want to say that I do a great amount of reading over the years on several tablets, phones and computers. The end result from all of them was tired aching eyes after reading. I now use the Kindle Paperwhite and it is a world of difference. NO MORE TIRED EYES!!! Yippie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
