Not for computer programming books

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you are planning to use the Paperwhite to read computer programming books, be aware that flipping pages is not fun doing and since the device is black and white only it is not geared to displayed color-highlighted text. I use it only for novels and that serve the purpose. The screen response is acceptable. I have not compared that to an ipad though.

I have an older one and it works great, much better than a standard kindle. Makes reading under varied lighting conditions much easier. I still find that reading with no ambient lighting still bothers my eyes, seeming disorienting somehow. This version of the Kindle is still worth the money in my opinion.

Good Bargain

I also really like the white screen on it. One of the negative things about this Kindle is the dictionary. For a word in the book you're reading it's a snap. For a word that isn't it's a really most convoluted process. Also, the lack of a good instruction booklet or YouTube video would have been nice. I had to Google to find out how to do every thing. Overall, I'm really glad I bought it.
