A great upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve always been a generation behind with Kindles. I had a Kindle from 2016 that was working pretty fine, except for some damaged pixels, but the Paperwhite tempted me with that lovely soft front light. And it is a great little eReader. I love that I can read in the dark (like I am right now) and its battery life is much better than my last Kindle. Setup is falling-off-a-log easy, as long as you’re somewhat familiar with Amazon, and I love that I can download and return Kindle Unlimited books easily and quickly. Oh, and I’m a librarian assistant, so I’ve already put a LOT of mileage on this thing. It’s holding up beautifully. One suggestion would be to include Find My (or an equivalent) so you can somehow ping it when you can’t find it. I solved this issue with a Tile Sticker on the back cover of the case, but it would be awesome if you could just page it from another device, like you can your iPhone from your Apple Watch.

Great way to read - bright and lightweight too!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This reader is a terrific option for reading at home, for traveling, and for carrying with you on appointments. It is lightweight which is great not just for toting around, but also for when you are tucked in for an evening or a weekend afternoon of reading. The adjustable light and font and font size make reading pleasing to the eyes. There is plenty of storage for the books you want to read. This is a great product for any reader!

Reading at its finest
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This kindle has been a good little companion device. It is easy to use and has enough storage for all the books I can ever read. It makes reading a pleasure again and it's small and lightweight and stores in my pocket for mobile reading. The screen is bright enough in the daytime and doesn't disturb in the nighttime.

Amazing battery, screen, and reading experience
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant at first, as I like the feel of physical books. Now, however, I regret not getting one sooner. I can carey hundreds of books easily. The screen is very easy on the eyes, lighting is perfect for conditions ranging from dark to bright sunlight, and the battery is absolutely incredible!

Love, love, love it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my new Paperwhite Kindle e-reader. It is so easy to transport in my purse so anytime I have a wait I can pull it out and read a few or more pages. The lighting is excellent and easy on the eyes so it can be read anywhere but not so bright that it would bother those around you. I especially like the fact that it is waterproof so it can be taken to the pool or beach. I've only had it a few weeks and have already read 4 books on it. I even set it up with my library acct so I am able to load books from there and there are many free selections on both Kindle and Amazon Prime. If you enjoy reading, by all means treat yourself to one of these. I know I will enjoy mine for years to come.

Great purchase
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an amazon prime member, I select delayed shipping for a few extra digital dollars. This has more than paid for the prime membership and I have gotten a ton of books because of it. This is extremely lightweight, battery lasts a long time, and it does not strain the eyes to read. I am extremely happy with this purchase and will definitely buy another if mine ever breaks. Definitely worth the money.

Perfect gift for any age
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since everything goes digital, it's time for an E-Reader. When I bought mine several years ago, I was pretty skeptical, but after several days I fell in love with this one. Easy to read in the dark or at bright sun. You can choose font size. You can make bookmarks and notes. For schoolkids and students it has dictionary and access to wiki if you are connected to the Internet through wi-fi and signed with your Amazon account. Dictionary doesn't need account nor Internet access. With Calibre - free program for library management - Kindle makes perfect digital library with unlimited capacity. You can add or remove books from your reader, keeping them in your library at computer, convert them to or from almost all e-book formats and a lot of other things. This one I bought as a gift and looks like it worked.

great product
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have truly enjoyed reading books with my kindle reader. It is easy on the eyes, easy to read and the battery lasts a long time. It has many additional attributes, most of which I have not used, yet. If you need a definition of a word, hold your finger on it and you get the definition. Easy to change the font. Loading books is very easy.

Kindle Paperwhielt 8GB
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the Kindle, you can purchase books fairly cheaply for sale prices. It's nice also to be able to download magazines to it. Mostly it's very easy on the eyes, and I read faster with the kindle than from regular books. Also love the lightweight kindle as opposed to heavy books.

Worth it
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. And I definitely still read regular books but you cannot be how easy this is to travel with how much longer the charge time holds and how perfectly it fits in my hand while reading. I have read on this for hours at length and appreciate how lightweight it is-it feels lighter than my phone and doesn’t bother my wrist

Perfect E-reader
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great E-reader! I love my Paperwhite. It holds a ton of books. It's lightweight. I've never had a problem with mine. The screen has minimal glare, so it's great for reading around bright lights. The backlight gets really bright and doesn't hurt the eyes. I love this item.

Paperwhite is excellent for long-form novels
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.E-ink and e-readers are excellent for long-form reading of novels. Two niggling details to be aware of: 1. The positions of the navigation buttons on the Kindle app and the navigation buttons on the Paperwhite are very different, beyond just the page turning buttons. This can get frustrating if, like me, you tend to use multiple devices (phone, tablet, e-reader) with the Kindle app. 2. I found out the hard way that not all of the books on my phone’s Kindle app can be opened in the Paperwhite. When I contacted Amazon customer service about this, they explained that the Paperwhite uses a different format than the app, and publishers decide whether or not to offer their books for both the KIndle app and the Paperwhite. When buying the Kindle version of a book on Amazon’s site, there is no indication as to whether or not the book can be read on the Paperwhite. E-readers are excellent for long-form novel reading, and for this purpose, I highly recommend the Paperwhite. However, I do not recommend the Paperwhite for reading business and technical books, which typically require constant back and forth page flipping. The Paperwhite (or any current generation e-ink device) is not meant to be used this way. I also looked at the larger screen Oasis, but its physical left and right page turn buttons are both placed on one side of the device, making the buttons awkward to use. It would make more sense to place the left page turn left button on the left side and the right button on the right side of the device. Screen real estate could be preserved by placing the buttons on the side edges of the device, rather than on the same face as the screen (as is done currently). Doing so might even reduce the overall size of the device, or alternatively, allow for an even larger screen.

The excellent reviews are true!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have looked at all, the existing reviews are overwhelmingly positive and true. * The script is very easy to read and the screen is easy on the eyes. * Battery life is excellent. * The instant work definitions are brilliant! * It's light and easy to hold. Wish list? I would like one just a bit bigger; maybe in the 7-8 inch range.

Excellent eReader
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have several earlier Kindles, including a couple of Paperwhites, and wasn't at all sure there was any reason to buy a newer one, until this one added water protection. I tend to be paranoid about damaging my portable electronics, so I have never used anything like this while in the tub without sealing it in a plastic zip-bag. It turns out that this is great ashore as well, and I would have had no regrets at all about having bought this even if it hadn't been waterproof. It quickly became my go-to ereader for almost all my reading. I've liked to have multiple books going at once, each on its own device, so I can set one down and pick up another, rather than going through menus, but I find myself doing that less and less. I just mostly read on this guy. Not long ago, I actually paid the fee to get rid of "special offers," and that has turned out to have been well worthwhile -- not only am I no longer burdened with distracting ads for stuff of absolutely no interest (or worse, appearing to be of interest, but not delivering), but suddenly the device works pleasingly better: Instead of a lengthy process of waiting and swiping and waiting and swiping, the page I was last reading is ready in about two seconds. Setting the book down and closing the sleep/wake cover, then picking it up and opening the cover, is hardly different than closing and opening a book, minus wrestling with the physical bookmark. That means no pin protection at entry, but setting "parental controls" to block access the store should prevent unwanted purchases. I prefer to visit the store on my Chromebook anyway. I have a Kobo Clara HD as well, and it is certainly a better piece of hardware in many ways, and I do use it a lot (mostly for reading articles I've saved to Pocket from the internet), but Kobo has infrastructure issues. Adjustable color lighting is a good feature, which I have appreciated on tablets and the Kobo, and I am glad it is coming to Kindles, but it wasn't a deal-breaker. Though it might tempt me when it comes out on a Paperwhite. Overall, a good device and a rewarding purchase.

What I wanted
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is exactly what I wanted a simple, slightly larger than an average cell phone, lightweight e-reader that I can enjoying reading my novels on regardless of lighting. It is easy to set up and use right out of the box. The battery last a long time, I rarely need to charge it, but when I do it is fast charging.

Very nice product! I was skeptical at first...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love it! It's small enough to fit in my purse so I can take it everywhere. I love the screen. It's easy to read and the font size and screen brightness are easily adjustable. I also like the book suggestion when I open the cover. I highly recommend a Paperwhite if you read a lot of books on Kindle.

Awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had a Kindle Fire for several years. My daughter-in-law encouraged me to buy the Kindle paper white to take on a vacation. I absolutely love it! It is small and lightweight. Best part is I could take it to the pool and read, unlike the Kindle Fire. I totally recommend!

Paper White Kindle
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Paper White kindle is very easy on the eyes for reading. I haven’t had any real issues with a glare. The lighting is adjustable and the settings are easy to maneuver around. It’s very light. Audible was easy to set up. You do need a Bluetooth speaker as it doesn’t have a speaker. I love the dictionary as well.

Dark mode
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced an earlier version that was still working fine. The features that sold me on this model are: the waterproof feature, I read around the pool a lot, the dark mode, at night the Kindle can be fairly bright without the dark mode. The battery life and extra storage are nice too.
