I have both the Kindle Colorsoft and the Scribe, and they are each fantastic at what they do.

The adaptive light makes it easy to read wherever you are. The only advice for pdf transfer: transfer them via your Amazon account which ensures they are converted to Kindle format.

She had a kindle fire for 8 yrs. or more. This Kindle Paperwhite is lighter plus you have the ability to adjust the light brightness. Glad I bought this.

I ordered the same item through a competitor and received it very quickly. I ultimately returned this because it was too late......perfectly good product, though!

I was going to purchase one of Etsy however the original said waterproof. Therefore I decided to purchase and I regret and still am regretting.

As noted in the product description, the case you are referring to is made out of fabric. While the fabric is water safe so that you can read in more places, it is not as protective as a hard cover would be. There are leather options for more protection as well as screen protectors available for purchase should this be a concern for you!
