A nifty little device, if a little pricey. :)

Got the Scribe for my wife for Xmas and she couldn't be happier. She loves to use it around the house and at work for various tasks. It has a variety of functions too and is great for listening to and reading audio books, note taking, and drawing. She's even used it to help teach our 2 year old different words, pictures, and letters. :)

Love taking notes on this thing! The way the pen feels when you're writing on the screen is great! The notebook portion of this kindle is very basic and not bloated with specific use-case featuees. Its not great for annotations or jotting down notes within an ebook. You'll have to highlight a word and place a "sticky note" to do your notes. So no writing in the margins. Built quality is pretty good! Light and easy to cary around without your arms feeling tired! I do have an issue with where the pen is placed though. I find myself taking it off every time i plan to just read. I do recommend this tablet if you need a note taking tablet and will primarily focus on taking notes in the notebook section.! But if you already have a note taking tablet/ need to mark up your ebooks/PDFs, i do not recommend this

My wife lives this Kindle. She went from the smaller regular Kindle to this one and is blown away. Price may seem steep but if you are an avid reader this is worth it.

I really like using. Takes some getting use to over using a regular notebook but it' worth the money.

Kindle Scribe Meets Most Expectations

I have had my scribe for a few days now. I do love the size and the light weight of it.
I was freaked out that as soon as it loaded, it already had my account info and automatically joined my Wi-Fi which is literally new.
I am not rating note taking in the books as it is not my focus. I will say that it is easy to do so, however it is more of sticky notes, instead of seeing the mark-ups as you flip through the pages.
NoteTaking:
I love the paper feel/sound when writing and the Premium pen is ok. I do like the “eraser” on the end of the pen, making it quicker to correct a mistake. I have not marked up a PDF, however, I see that any notes written on them stay on the PDF and not hidden like sticky notes are.
Templates: I would like a few more traditional templates. For instance, I prefer the college rule. The scribe has it, but the top line is not blank. Small preference, but it’s what I would like.
Notebooks: easy to set up. However, It does not have layers, like the remarkable does. Layers allows for all of the pages to be displayed and reorganized or deleted. The scribe only allows for one page at a time viewing.
I love being able to have my books and notebooks in one device. I had my Oasis and my 1st gen remarkable to carry around. Now, I have one device that I can use for work and play.
16GB: True size is just over 11GB’s once opened and set up, due to the programming software size.
Reading: Reading is a great experience as the options in lighting is excellent as usual. I don’t need buttons to change pages and the page turns are seamless. I have mine set to dark and adjusted the lighting to where it is perfect in the day or night, with no eye strain. I had no used this setting before, but am a huge fan now.
Although the cover is a separate review, be careful. My scribe has fallen out of it twice already. I got the pink canvas one.
Overall, I gave a 4 out of five stars because the programming software eats about 5gbs (probably should have expected this but Nope!!), the notes portion doesn’t have layers and the limitation on templates (18 but limited on style). The 4 stars are for my initial assessment and I will update within the next two weeks.
