What is there to say? The best value and performance in a desktop CPU. AM4 socket and Zen 3 performance increases make these CPUs the way to go regardless of which model you choose. The 5900x is the price point leader with best average cost per core/thread. No bad choices here get one and then spend a week choosing your mother board if you aren't upgrading in place.

I upgraded to the Ryzen 9 5900x from a Ryzen 5 5500 and noticed an immediate difference. The major thing I noticed was higher frames in games such as Counter Strike, Overwatch 2, and Minecraft. I got this at a steep discount (around 65% off) and I would highly suggest getting one of these if it goes on sale like that again. Definitely getting my money’s worth out of it.

Upgraded from a ryzen 7 3700x because it can and will bottleneck the rtx 3080. Saw this overkill cpu for 300$ and decided to spoil myself. Didnt expect to make such a difference but it absolutely did! I went for straight speed and even undervolt it to 1.25v while still getting over boosted clock speeds of 4950MHz.. undervolting is simple and is a must to keep this power house cpu temps in check. Didnt regret the purchase.

Really enjoying the 5900x . Been building pc's for over 30 years and can say this one is one of the best noticeable upgrades in years . ~ There was one downfall , as the first unit from Bestbuy did not work correctly (auto reboots/black screens mostly with games or benching , reboots when sitting idle , etc)and had to be returned (check the official AMD forums for more info) . ~ However opted for another 5900x and the repurchase/replacement has worked flawlessly . With an easy PBO setting and a few minor other oc settings , the chip does hit 5ghz . Iam using a AlphaCool 360 AIO (all copper system) for cooling , but only need to run the fans at 1/2 speed (and thats with 7 volt reducers) . ~ Dont let fact that I had to get the replacement as it seems there was a bad batch months back when the 5900x was super rare and hard to get during covid . Seems from what is read at AMD forums , that AMD will honor a replacement . ~ Again with my current chip , it runs beautifully and flawlessly (and overclocks nicely , with PBO or manuelly . Recommend!

Amazing processor for gaming & daily use. I was fortunate enough to buy it on sale for 340$ & was debating between the 5900x vs 58003dx & 110% glad I went with this processor. It runs cool, fast, and can handle anything you throw at it!

AMD always killing it, not the tip top, however this processor is blazing fast for gaming and recording and the price is great if you can't afford the top tier but still want amazing performance.

The best processor in the zen3 series IMO This thing is great both at gaming and at workloads like video editing. I thought the gap between this and the 5950x was a bit too steep for the 4 extra cores, and to add to that, this one hits better numbers than the 5800x/5950x in gaming loads (5800 3D is better in games i hear, but this is the "jack of all trades" for this generation for sure) I do a lot of gaming AND a lot of high-core workloads and while i'd love to have a threadripper in the coming months/year ... this is a great great processor for someone who just needs a powerful computer (i hve two of them -- one has an evga 3090 FTW3 the other has a 3090Ti FE) I also have a 5600x/3080FE combo which -- is still a really good setup but i would jump to the 5800x (3d) over the 5600x if you were to build a 3080-based machine right now... the price ponts on cpus have changed A LOT.

Powerful processor set at a solid price. It's recently gotten a bit of competition from Intel's 10000 series getting price cuts, but AMD still leads in single threaded performance in many games that I play. Runs a little hot on my Fuma 2. In hindsight, I may have been better off snagging a NH-D15 or a Liquid Freezer II.

Runs really hot, but pretty standard for a 12-core processor. Solid value for the price. Haven't had any issues whatsoever. Got a lot of hard use playing STALKER 2, and it did help a bit in the CPU heavy areas of the game. Upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600 and the performance is leaps better. Only complaint is that you do need a beefy cooler to keep it from frying itself. I'm using a Cooler Master 120mm AIO liquid cooler for the processor, and it still tops out at about 83C. I suggest at least a 240mm or bigger AIO cooler for this CPU.

When i built my pc 3 years ago, i got an x570 chipset knowing i would eventually upgrade from my 3600 to a 5000 series. Finally did so and the performance improvements were drastic. Good processor for multiple tasks. Video and audio encoding is very quick, and can also play games with no worries. Temperatures could be worrying at first glance , but if you look at AMD’s spec information, this generation of ryzen all run hotter than most cpu’s, and are designed to handle it. Just make sure you have a good heatsink and know how to properly install it.

I got the Ryzen 9 5900x CPU, and it's amazing. It makes everything faster, from gaming to video editing. It handles multiple tasks without any issues and uses less power. It was easy to install and works great with my setup. If you need a powerful processor, go for the Ryzen 9. It's awesome!

Purchased and installed AMD's latest processor and it's been working like a dream. Super fast, super smooth, acceptable temperatures and great performance under load. The only downside is that something faster is always around the corner!!!

It's a 12 core cpu, what more could you expect. It's insanely fast and while it's a bit overkill for my application I am happy knowing I will have plenty of processing power in the future. It runs a bit warm under a Cryorig H5 (50C Idle, 70-80C under load) but it doesn't thermal throttle. It doesn't include a cooler to incentivise the user to get something substantial enough to cool it but in terms of $ per core this is the best among the Ryzen 5000 series lineup. I have a 5600X as well but I needed more power for editing, but honestly the entire lineup is amazing.

Paired with a 3080 Ti. Having multiple things open feels smoother. Intensive games have better performance & frame rate. This is an upgrade from a 3600. I’m getting more usage of out pc as a whole & my bottleneck is severely reduced. This is all obvious things to expect with an upgrade. Under heavy load I haven’t seen temps rise over 55 c (my fans aren’t great either). Solid purchase, a step up with the gpu would’ve been a 3D but for price I am happy. UPDATE BIOS before upgrading

Best CPU ever. Was thinking about the 5950x but this seriously can tackle everything I need it for plus more. Great price. Was always an intel fanboy, but this series changed my mind. Intel needs to step it up.

What a beast. I bought this for gaming and audio production, and it works really well. As far as AM4 goes (and you don’t want to go to AM5), totally worth the value and worth the upgrade (I came from 5600x). Can run a little hot, but that’s what you have a water cooler for

If you're able to get your hands on one at the moment, its a fantastic cpu for the performance at nearly any workload compared to intel offerings at similar pricing. Beating intel at most games, and taking on highly multithreaded applications too. My very first cpu from AMD, hopefully they can keep cranking out winners like this. And in greater volumes so that everyone that wants one can get one.

Great cpu - 0 stutters Upgraded from an intel i5 7600k that had mild stuttering on the random occasion. Have had no such issues thus far. idle around 35-40C with a 360 aio. Browsing/streaming videos and cpu hovers below 3% usage compared to the 20%+ of my i5. Amazing all around. Only real issue is installation. Having to flash bios on motherboards require an older chip or has you tinkering around with your motherboard until it works. Definitely frustrating to troubleshoot but it'd a one and done thing so I guess I don't mind too much.
