Ordered it for pickup, my local store made it super easy. The processor is an absolute monster and doesn’t take much to cool it actually. I just have it on a dual tower air cooler and it runs about 75C with PBO active.

Excellent CPU for gaming or anything else. I’m using the AMD Wraith Prism to cool the CPU, and I’m getting clocks up to 4.9ghz, while staying between 65-75f for temps. Keep in mind my ambient temps are 68f.

Absolute monster of a CPU. Will handle anything with ease. Total overkill for my purposes. Gets a little a rowdy on the temps, so get an adequate cooler and plenty of airflow through your case.

I've owned this cpu since late 2021, and let me tell that it works great for needs. I had paired with evga 3070 ti ftw3, and they both worked great. Now, after purchasing the 4090 gaming oc, i am still impressed... both from Best Buy. I am running these 2 on the May 2023 bios update on MSI B550 mag tomahawk max wifi also purchased from Best Buy. I was going to upgrade from this one to the 5800x3d, after playing around with my setting through the bios, I have better performance in gaming, streaming and some video editing. For example I get average frames per second (FPS) 221 on Shadow Of Tomb Raider and 666 max. Even though the game is from 2018 and updated on 2019 for 4k. On Call Of Duty MW 2, I also get pretty hi fps 228 average which great on 2560×1440. I was also getting average 90 fps and 140 fps on CP2077 with no monitor capping. Using Cl14-15-15-36 is great for gaming. I do have the cpu topped at 4750 mhz and slightly undervolted. So is my 4090@1050Mv. Using a high end air cooler with dual 120mm fans on the cpu, and and 7 case fans for proper air flow. I hope this helps anyone looking to purchase this 5900x. Whether for streaming or gaming, it has been worth for use for the past 2 years. I found that upgrading to the 5800x3d just isn't worth the upgrade for me, so, I should be good for a couple of more years.

Don't think about it, buy it

Absolute workhorse of a CPU! and at $450 it's an outstanding value. I have this paired with an EVGA 3080 XC3 Ultra Hybrid and the performance is insane, especially while overclocking. Takes to PBO2 very well. Was able to optimize mine to 4,6 all core and 4,975 single core (with bumps above 5) while temps don't go over 63c under full load with the NH-D15. AM4 sockets into B450, B550, X570 although if your going for overclocking or performance, the Strix B550 series are outstanding and i wouldn't recommend pairing with B450. If you can't afford this and your purely need for gaming - the 5600x is an excellent alternative for half the price right now.

I upgraded to the Ryzen 9 5900X recently, and it's been a game-changer for my gaming setup. The sheer speed and responsiveness this CPU brings to the table have made my gaming sessions incredibly smooth. With its 12 cores and 24 threads, I'm seeing better frame rates and reduced load times across all my favorite titles. This processor handles multitasking with ease, which is great for when I'm streaming or chatting with friends mid-game. It's been reliable without overheating or causing any hiccups, even when I'm several hours into a gaming marathon. For anyone looking to keep their PC gaming-ready for the latest and future titles, the Ryzen 9 5900X comes highly recommended. It’s got the power to handle demanding games and the versatility for everything else. A solid purchase for any gamer!

Went from a 2700x to this. For what I do with a PC the 2700x was sufficient but I did have an Asus Tuf x570 motherboard so I figured get one of the best chips offered for the board. Tasks do seem zippier, and Cyberpunk is smoother. I did crash on Cyberpunk with the 2700x randomly, but have yet to have one happen with the 5900x. It doesn't run as cool as the 2700x but surprisingly its not that much warmer. Only difference is chips in my setup, I am still using the same 3200 mhz memory. I have a noctua chromax dh15 and phanteks p500a case. The 2700x would max out at 60 and idle 27-30 degrees celsius. Doing the same tests the next day in about the same ambient room temp the 5900x idles aaround 29-33 and has maxed at 67 degrees celsius. While playing Cyberpunk it sits around 60. Most cores idle at 3600mhz, single core gets up to 4950, all load synthetic around 4500 and gaming they will hit all core 4750. That is with popping it in and no tweaks. I figured to bite the bullet while I had gift cards and points. Even before the shortage nice cpus on the used market still sold for a decent price, so I went ahead and grabbed one before AMD stops this line and goes with the next gen.

It's a 12 core cpu, what more could you expect. It's insanely fast and while it's a bit overkill for my application I am happy knowing I will have plenty of processing power in the future. It runs a bit warm under a Cryorig H5 (50C Idle, 70-80C under load) but it doesn't thermal throttle. It doesn't include a cooler to incentivise the user to get something substantial enough to cool it but in terms of $ per core this is the best among the Ryzen 5000 series lineup. I have a 5600X as well but I needed more power for editing, but honestly the entire lineup is amazing.

Excellent CPU, used to upgrade an existing AM4 platform. CPU runs a little warm but a good solid air cooler or AIO will handle it easily. Runs anything I throw at it at max settings without breaking a sweat. If you have an existing AM4 and don’t want to do the big jump to AM5 I suggest this CPU.
