I was looking for something that would finally dethrone Intel in style. Out comes the Ryzen 9 5950X to give me everything I've asked for. I installed everything without an issue. The processor doesn't come with a cooler and honestly it's for the best. This thing runs great, but it runs hot. You'll definitely want to purchase an after market cooler (all in one cooler or an air cooler like the Noctua NH-D15). Delivers great performance and is great for gaming. I couldn't have asked for anything else.

I love this 5950X. You have not lived until you can rock 16 cores at once! This thing is simply a beast! It was probabbly overkill at the time , but its 2 years old already and I could not be happier. I like playing cranked up to 11. This cpu lets me crank it up to 16 !

This processor paired with an RTX 3080 has displayed insane performance and capability. Previously using a Coffee Lake, I had constantly been pushing 90-100% of my CPU power when using virtual machines and playing video games. Since upgrading to the Ryzen 9 5950x, I have barely pushed past 15% under the same circumstances. Would recommend to anyone who can afford to spend the extra money over the 5900x. Only use this processor with water cooling. A fan will NOT be enough. If you can't spend the $100 for water cooling, please do not buy this processor.

16 cores! Super fast, actually the latest desktop processor! Runs cool in normal days usage. It does run hot during heavy gaming but not notice too much throttling.

The 5950x has the best price to performance ratio for anyone that needs more performance than a standard desktop, but at thousands less than a Threadripper at five times the price. The 5950x, coupled with the x570 chipset has come down in price, making this pairing the best base platform on the market for video editing (couples with a video card), financial simulations, gaming, or any other processor heavy task.

Great proc! Nice upgrade from my 3700x. I'm on a MSI Gaming wifi x570 mobo and needed to update the bios for this CPU to be recognized. After I flashed the bios I was good to go. Games seem to be smoother and less jittery overall. Haven't been able to get my hands on a this gen gfx card, but hopefully sometime next year I'll be able to do so to take full advantage of this beast. I was going to go for the 5900x but they were out of stock, and with how difficult it is to find high end parts these days, I figured I just spend a few extra bucks and go all in.

I bought the 5950 because it was immediately available in the store, while I would have been happy with the 5900 if it was available. This CPU went into a build with 64G ram, 2 TB NVME Gen4 storage, and water cooled. There is no lag when working with lots of photo projects at the same time. Excellent performance. Does not seem to run exceptionally hot with the work we have done.

i think its a fairly good price if you just need more cores and already are on the am4 platform so you dont need to change everything else out.

This processor is an absolute monster! It destroys anything I throw at it without issue. Great for rendering and multitasking. I will say some games aren't able to make full use of its cores, but the ones that can get massive performance boosts.

Still good in 2023 if you already have AM4 MB

Got this on sale for $500! I already had an AM4 motherboard (with 8 core AMD 5800) and 128GB of RAM. While I do not game, I needed something more power to handle video editing and Virtual Machines. The 5950x does everything I need it to do at stock clock speeds with ease!! I reused my 2 year old Deepcool Castle 360EX and it keeps the 5950x at a cool 60C at full load! I don't see the need to update to new generation CPU\MB anytime soon! Bottom line; if you are building new, go for AM5 or 13th Gen. Intel CPU instead. For not much more (sometimes for even less) it'll be much faster and even support DDR5. HOWEVER, if you already have an AM4 with more than enough DDR4 RAM and you are finding yourself needing more cores for productivity work, then the 5950x is a nice upgrade for the sale price of $500.

More than you'll likely ever need. A beast for gaming and productivity. Does run quite hot, make sure your setup can handle it, you'll probably want it on water for any overclocking. And I will say, OCing is kind of a pain and somewhat counterintuitive. Took me a while to figure out how to best leverage PBO.

I've been an Intel fanboy all my life until I got this bad boy. The 16 cores, 32 threads is an absolute beast for multicore workloads. I also do gaming and it did not disappoint, I noticed a massive performance increase in the games I played.

Used a Ryzen 5 chip last, so much better! I utilize my CPU not only for gaming, but for music production and it just hammers out. Runs a little hot and would recommend at least a 3 fan cooler.

Amazing CPU for the price had a 5900x with an IO problem though I have another one without a problem the local best buy didn't have a 5900 to replace it so I grabbed this instead. I was able to get it working fairly well and I'm amazed at how well it works.

Of course, the 5950X is super fast and very powerful - able to chew through all sorts of workloads with ease. However, the most striking aspect of this powerhouse is how easy it is to keep cool and how efficient it is. My cpu cooler is a Noctua NH-U12S with two fans, and it has no trouble with the heat output of the 5950X. According to HWiNFO64, the CPU Package Power averages 47 watts, peaks at around 76 watts in my normal usage and it idles at 36 watts. My motherboard is a MSI X570 Tomahawk WiFi, and interacts with the 5950X seamlessly. A great combo! So far, I could not be more pleased than I am with this combo.

Very fast cpu. If you get this when on sale get it as of 07/26/2023. If there’s a con it DDR4 not DDR5 but it is on one’s budget. I saved about 1 to 1.5 year to Bulid my 3rd custom pc in late 2022. I am happy with it. Corsair DDR4 3600MHZ and Western Digital 750 1TB name both from Bestbuy also. The MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK Gaming Motherboard is what I am using works great and work right out of the box on first release of bios. If place the nvme drive the slot closer slot to the cpu socket it may get up 55-75c if rendering or editing.

Monstrous cpu! Everything is much faster (from 3600 to 5950x)! It generates enormous amounts of heat so get a liquid cooler with it. Noctua NH-D15 air cooler has to run both fans on high to keep it under 70c
