This is hands down the most powerful and reliable home router I have ever owned and would highly recommend it for those that want the best they can get.

I live in a two story home just under 3,000sqft. For the past few years I have been using the Netgear Orbi Mesh system, which was a big improvement on the single router and range extender that I was using prior. My Orbi was capable of a maximum 800mbps transfer speed. As my home has become more WiFi connected with smart bulbs, multiple streaming devices, Ring cams, etc., I was noticing some real performance issues with my Orbi. The final straw came for me when Netgear pushed a recent update that knocked me off the Internet for most of the day until I could ascertain the problem, but I was so annoyed I began looking for alternatives. I found the Amplifi Alien and started reading the reviews. I decided to roll the dice and buy the single router, not the router with mesh extender, just to see how it performed. Setting it up was super easy and fast. While I was very pleased with the performance, I decided that to really cover my entire home with 5g, I needed to purchase a second Amplifi, which I configured as the mesh unit and placed it on the opposite side of the house. Yes, it was somewhat expensive, but the performance is outstanding with no more "buffering" and my Ring cams all snap right to attention whereas before, there would be unacceptable lag when engaging live view. These things look and perform amazing. I've only had them in operation for a few weeks now, but so far, I am glad I made the investment.

Super easy to setup and provides a solid connection all throughout the house (using 3 of these, 1 on each floor). Our house is 3 stories with approximately 2500 sq/ft.

Works as advertised. Simple setup out of the box. Software makes sense. Slick and just works - the perfect combination. The touchscreen is informative at a glance, and functional. Bought multiple units to scale. This thing is rad.

I have been using the NetGear Orbi RBK852 for less than a year. It was blazing fast. But the mobile UI and the web UI left a lot to be desired. The Satellite unit started having problems about 2 months into owning it but I found a reboot fixed it for about a month so I was okay. Then after 8 months it all just stopped working. I did a lot of research and while not the most popular, the Amplifi Alien (made by Ubiquiti) was rated by many testers as just behind the Orbi's as far as speed but otherwise pretty equal. I like the look and decided to take a chance. I have been very pleased. The speed difference, maybe 920mbs, down from the Orbi's 970mbs. Not enough to even notice. I love the mobile UI and it is very configurable. What I really love is that you can extend it by adding another router, and another, if needed. Not a mesh point but a full router. If it detects a router it goes into mesh mode but if one does ever fail I can just switch the mesh to be the router. I would not only buy it again but I am buying one for my daughter to get her off of the very slow Google mesh she is on. One of these will easily cover what is currently taking her 4 Google "pucks" to accomplish and with a much greater speed and control. Go ahead and buy one. You won't be disappointed. My only negative is that a lot of Best Buys don't stock them but you can get it shipped pretty quickly.

Haven't had to separate 2.4/5ghz bands to prevent crashing like my older Netgear router+extender and signal strength is solid. Note that you can mesh two or more of these together, it's slightly more expensive than buying the mesh kit from their site and you get a nice screen instead of a blank tube.

This router is very easy to setup and has a ton of advanced configuration options. Most all items can be controlled from the display on the router and the rest can be easily be changed from the mobile application. I really like that the router displays when there is a firmware update available. Mixing AC with AX allows you to easily connect all of your old and new devices.

I was resetting my asus AC1900 for the third time that day just to get enough bandwidth to work from home when i was abducted by aliens. They took my router out of my trembling hands and placed on their transmorgafier pad next to the mclaren F1 they had stolen and atomically mashed them together, and sent me home sans probing. This thing is ridiculous. We have 15+ devices on it and its only running at half cap memory. My speeds have quadrupled over my ASUS gaming router and the ability to prioritize my streaming devices is my favorite feature. That and the touch screen that looks like the alien lab it was built in. Buy it now or suffer the curse of slow internet. Get abducted!

I have had aliens for about 6 months now. Recently I added another one to my mesh, but these are very fast and stable. Never need to reboot, just fast all the time. No doubt whoever wrote this knows how to code. I also tried the Orbi RBU852 and it was slightly slower after running iperf3 tests from many spots in my house. So I recommend this over Orbi.

Almost excellent/near perfect experience so far. Amazing packaging, amazing tech, amazing hardware, amazing software. Only hangup is the lack of instructions regarding an unplugged restart vs a software restart. A few days in I was tinkering with the online client and the iPhone client. At some point I lost all of my 802.11b signals although the Amplifi said they were still there on the app. None of my devices could see them. I restarted it multiple times and eventually even reset to factory settings (all through the app). Nothing would bring back those signals. I was just about to pack it up and return to Best Buy when I finally found something in a message board that told me that to unplug it for restart was a different boot sequence or something like that than a software restart. By unplugging to restart everything was back to normal. Such a crazy experience. Good old first rule in tech support (restart and then unplug and restart). I'm not sure why have a software restart option and why the restore to factory option doesn't work the same as an unplug restart but glad I was able to figure it out because outside of that one issue it's been perfect and an outstanding upgrade from the xfinity/comcast rental cable modem/wifi routers (I've tried two of them).

One of the best routers money can buy. This can be considered a long term review. I have been using this solid piece of network gear for over 2 years and it has been extremely solid. I have over 15 + active devices at any time. From multiple phones to tables to TV and a pS5. It can run all of them simultaneously. I have it on auto network mode meaning it handles creation of channels on its own to optimize my usage. A very solid buy. When this dies I will buy one more. I say this because if you keep running your router under heavy load like I do it will eventually die. Solid piece of gear none the less
