It's my third AmpliFi Alien. It's best piece I ever had, works right out the box and mesh is insanely fast with MIMO 6x6. If you have huge house like me it's your best solution without running cables and installing unnecessary switches.

I was very hesitant to spend so much money on a router, but WOW! What can I say? I'm so glad I did. I switched from an Asus RT-AC68U which was a pretty decent router itself. We always had problems with WIFI signal in the upstairs of our house. Not anymore! This thing covers our whole house. WIFI on our phones work better, our Ring cameras work way better too. The setup is a breeze, just scan a code on your phone, and in a few minutes, bam! You're done. I used the same network ID and passwords from my old router and all our devices connected right back up without having to input new passwords on everything. The touchscreen display is awesome too. I love seeing the network usage graph right there on the router along with all the connected devices and other info. Definitely the absolute best router I've ever owned. To top it off, BestBuy delivered it to my door for free!

I recently moved to a new condo, and for the first time I had access to fiber internet, so my little eero 6 was not going to cut it. Now, everyone should know by now that true gigabit internet speeds on Wi-Fi are harder to obtain the more devices and more nearby interference exists. This is a 14 unit complex, and I have 25+ devices active at any given moment, so I need a router that is strong and powerful. I tried so many different routers of all kinds: eero 6+, eero pro 6E, Nest WiFi Pro, TP-Link Archer AX3000, Linksys E8450, Netgear RAX70, and the Asus RT-AX58U, and so far the Alien has been by far the best. Previously, the best performance I was getting was through an eero 6 Pro, which would hit about 450-500 up and down at BEST on my desktop computer with an Intel AX210 6E WiFi radio. This was also unreliable and it could regularly drop to ~200Mbps. With my Alien, I’ve reached up to 750Mbps up and down on my desktop, and I’ve consistently hit 600+ Mbps up and down on my WiFi 6 devices, such as my iPhone. While I have not done any speed tests on my WiFi 5 devices, I have noticed my devices in general all have lower latency and more stability. During setup/the first 48 hours, I did have two minor issues. The first issue was that after setup, all of the Wi-Fi networks disabled, though Ethernet devices were connecting just fine. A reboot of the device and it was perfectly fine. The second issue was that my video doorbell, the Wyze Doorbell would not properly connect to the dedicated 2.4GHz network for IOT devices. Rebooting the router and resetting the camera and connecting it to the main network solved the issue (the unit supports band steering). The AmpliFi app is great if you’re an intermediate user who likes knowing network stats and tracking devices, but doesn’t want to get overwhelmed by too many technical details, you’ll love the app. No dark mode, sadly, and an account is required, but navigating the app and customizing it is very easy. The Alien itself a pretty unique device. It’ll blend into any environment, but I recommend disabling the screen and LED. Having a screen is kind of cool, but every data point it has is available in the app, and the screen is too small to really be that valuable in my opinion, but some may like it.

If you want a WiFi router that is power enough for gamung or multi streaming video content on different platforms in 4k at the same time. Easy 2 min set up, mesh capacity to 6k sq ft, great touch screen interface, an app that is easy to use and looks great. This is for you.

If you're in the market for a new router, you want a router that is a simple set up, and you have funds for this router. Then I highly recommend this router. Out all the routers that I've set up as an IT, this one is super simple, and the whole set up process is on an application "amplifi wifi" that you can install from your playstore, or appstore. The interface of the unit is awesome l, it only has one rgb strip at the bottom and it's defaulted to green only; but overall this router is very powerful and well worth the money.

Wow, Amazing performance. Super easy to setup and manage. I hooked it up with some gigabit service and used Speedtest.net app on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and got 846 down and 54 up. This router does not disappoint.

I have been pleasantly surprised, with how well this unit has been working out for me. It was a fairly simple process to get this unit setup and configured. I will note that initially I did have issues with getting an IP address from my modem. It kept looping through the process before failing. I had placed the unit in bridge mode which temporarily resolved the issue, however, it needed to not be in bridge mode to function properly. I factory reset the Amplifi unit and everything started working after that. Not a huge deal, just slightly annoying. It proceeded to perform a firmware update, no issues there. Everything else worked like a charm. All of my IoT devices connected without issue (unlike previous brands which required using guest wifi). As for connection speeds, I am getting everything I'd expect. Both wireless and wired connections. The LCD display on the front is "fun" to periodically look at and the overall look of the unit is awesome. I do like how there is a scheduled night mode so that the LED lights aren't blasting when not needed. They are also configurable in that you can control the individual brightness of both eh LED base and LCD display. The app works nicely. There aren't a whole lot of options with the WebUI so the app is key to managing the features and functionality. All-in-all, a great unit that has been working really well.

Had some areas in my home that couldn't get wifi or cellular signal in, tried a couple different routers but so far this has covered the dead spots in my home. The devices that weren't able to connect did, and they latency has improved. The router keeps my devices running smoothly

I'll keep this short and sweet. I bought 2 of these around 2 years ago when I bought my first house. My house is about 1700 sqft and was built in 1960's (I live in SF Bay Area, so houses are rather old). It has super thick walls and construction, so just 1 router wasn't going to cut it. Fast forward to today, I have about 45 devices connected to these (most of them wirelessly). I have smart light switches, smart plugs, 12 Ring cameras, Google Assistants, Alexas, a home theater PC, a DIY NAS, a network printer, you name it. These have been ROCK SOLID from day 1. I have to restart them maybe once every 3 months, most times because my cable model goes haywire and I lose internet connectivity. These pack all the essential features you'll need. An integrated ad blocker, the ability to define multiple SSIDs on different radios, and the "Teleport" feature which let's you VPN into your home and get access to all your local services remotely (I often use it for grabbing files from my NAS). The mobile app is very user friendly and exposes almost all these features to you (except the ad blocker). Also, I love the fact that I can see my home IP address in a matter of seconds when I'm not home. I recently bought my second home (a townhouse) and this is literally the first thing I bought. If you want the top-of-the-line routers that "just work" and are tired of dealing with all the crap that Netgear and other off-the-shelf manufacturers make, get the Amplifi Alien.

So glad I decided to go with this router instead of the 3 others I had picked up and set down. FINALLY getting the speeds I pay for every month. My last router was Nighthawk AC3200 which was a joke! Couldn’t even get a consistent download speed or even close to reaching a 1/4 of the speeds I pay for. So all in all don’t waste your money on anything else simply due to the profile, LED light & LCD touchscreen! Ok the 1 and only flaw is kind of childish I know, I wish you could change the LED color at the bottom

Upgraded from my Google Nest router. This router has Wi-Fi 6 which is an upgrade to my home network and is HomeKit compatible. Not to mention it looks really cool. Very easy to set up. If you know what you’re doing, you can have it up and running in about a minute.

Going from the rog rapture GT6, thus mesh AP setup is significantly more stable. The asus GT6 was plagued with wifi disconnects. Ive had this mesh up for 6 days and forgot about it, because it works like a good mesh should. Good setup. K bought two of these bad boys when they were on sale. Simple setup

I’ve installed larger Ubiquiti systems in two of my homes. I put this router into my mothers home. I have several HomeKit items in her house and getting things to work had been difficult. Apple lists one router on their list of approved routers for HomeKit, but when you read reviews of that router, you hear about signal drops and all kinds of things. I’m not here to comment on that as the router seems to be working fine as far as Wi-Fi. I can’t comment on the performance of high-tech gaming etc. because my mother doesn’t do that and she doesn’t have that kind of speed on her condominium Cable Internet. What I got it for is that it’s flawless in it’s HomeKit execution. Anything I want to add to the system I don’t get it a half hour of spinning icons and then a fail. It just makes the connection and everything works. It is worth it to leave at my mothers house, knowing that if there’s ever an issue, it won’t be the router.

I live in a 2200 square foot house and the router provided by my ISP was not reaching every room with consistency. Went to look at mesh, but the employee I spoke with at Best Buy really knew his stuff. The house is a 1996 build and does not have the newer “open” floor plan. Lots of walls to get thru for the office and guest bedrooms. Problem solved! Have as many as 10-12 devices on the network and they all run like a champ! Highly recommended!

Not a bad router, but not it’s great either. I bought it to replace the eero device that Frontier gave me when I signed up for their gigabit service. Using it with Apple Home kit is kind of hit or miss - one of my smart plugs keeps dropping the connection, even though it’s within line of site to the router. Pretty annoying when you tell Siri to turn off the lights and one tends to stay on. Final fix was to assign Channel 6 to my 2.4 network. Coverage is average but nothing spectacular. I will say that it is pretty fast - the Apple TV tops out at 750 Mbps download speed at 35 feet.
