I want to love it, but too many issues

First the good - the physical design of the router is *fantastic*. I really like the information screen, the app UI is great, and there are a ton of options for you to tweak. A lot of effort was put into the experience, and it shows. This is the only router I've ever owned that I want to show to other people - it's that cool. Unfortunately the positives for me end there. First off, at this time of this writing, if you want to use a secondary DHCP server with this device (such as the optional one included with a pi-hole) you are out of luck. You cannot disable the internal DHCP server. You can try to work around it by restricting the address range the router DHCP server hands out, but it's an ugly workaround. While a typical user probably wouldn't run into this issue, it is a fairly common feature on most routers. The other option is to set the router to bridge mode, which turns it into a glorified (and expensive) wifi access point only. If you do set the router to bridge mode, the guest network stops working. I realize that most normal users won't be running in bridge mode, but guest network is basic wifi router functionality. Next, this router doesn't currently support WPA3. This feature will become more and more important in the future and other routers in this price range do support it. Finally, the speeds just aren't amazing. I got roughly equivalent speeds out of the Plume SuperPods I replaced with this. Not a great first impression, especially since this cost a *lot* more than the SuperPods. I'm honestly not sure who this product is aimed at. Normal users who just want a set it and forget it wifi experience would be better served by something much cheaper, such as one of TP-Link's Deco line. Prosumers who want more control (which I like to pretend I am) will be disappointed in the baffling decisions surrounding some of the more advanced features, and the lackluster performance. These people would be better suited with Ubiquiti's UniFi line, or TP-Link's Omada. Maybe people dazzled by the design (which I totally am) and not price sensitive will be able to forgive the issues. I'm going to try the ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 and hope for a better experience. I was hoping the Amplifi Alien could fill my niche of not being interested in maintaining UniFi type access points but wanting more features and control than consumer offerings. Unfortunately, this router doesn't cut it.

Unfortunately this unit is only 1gb but it jas such amazing feastures. I was unlucky that the first one died within a day due to a cooling error however the one that they replaced it with has had 0 issues and such a strong connection that even goes past my neighbors.

I’ve bought 3 of these now and they are my absolute favorite and highly recommend routers. Mesh mode is amazing and super easy. The reason I’ve bought 3 of these, two are mine and got my parents one. I’ve never had issues with these, it’s a beast.

Amazing router. We recently got fiber and our nighthawk wasn't able to perform to its full potential. This Amplifi is amazing. Im going to get another one to put in the other side of the house to have a mesh setup.

Finally a device that’s worth the money! We’ve tried everything google nest, net gear, nothing would work for entire house. Our WiFi is amazing now thanks to this! Meant for larger square footage even picks up entire backyard for outdoor entertaining. You’ll pay a bit more but you won’t regret it.

Easy to setup. Very strong wireless signal. Cool and useful display and a silly green light that can be turned off. I had problems with Wyze cameras and this AP but otherwise performance and signal strength were great. One of these provided the same coverage as 3 eero Pro's. Not easy to extend this though, you need to buy an additional unit but you may not need it.

I have a multi-router network in a 2 story home. I have bought the higher end routers with mixed results. I want it to work and I want it to deliver speed, lan and wifi. I also use VPN when traveling. My ISP provides me a static ip for the VPN and a Windows server for hosting, programming purposes. I tried the Alien and it works. And delivers speed and stability I was looking for. I was so impressed, I added a 2nd A:ien downstairs connected thru an ethernet backhaul (LAN). Amplifi provides a peer to peer VPN without the need for a static ip which is a plus. Overall, I have been very satisfied with the system.

Was looking for an upgrade to my router and from seeing all the reviews on YouTube I decided to purchase this one. It worked well but not as fast as I thought it would fit wifi. One thing I did have s huge problem with was that out would interfere with my sound bar's subwoofer, it would cut off and come back every few seconds. Decided to return it and went with a different router.

Fasted router that I have ever owned. Finally getting the speeds that I'm paying for! I was previously using the Amplifi HD with two mesh points. System was great and easy to set up but the Wi-Fi was half the speed I was receiving. I upgraded to an Oribi mesh system, most horrible system to set up but the speeds were good. I decided to upgrade to the Alien and its wonderful.
