Upgraded from the AmpliFI HD and mesh point. This is an awesome router! The set up is simple and easy. The app is the best compared to the competitors and is very intuitive and makes changing settings or updating super easy. The coverage is amazing and the speeds on my devices are excellent and the best out of all the routers I've tried. Gaming on an Xbox (wired connection) and I get 800+ Mbps consistently with no packet loss. On my wired connection to my iMac I consistently get 900-940 Mbps. My iPhones get 500+ Mbps on Wi-Fi. I have about 10-12 devices connected regularly and up to 15+ and there's is never any slowdowns.

AmpliFi Alien is easy to set up - really fast. I have 4 in the house. I didn't need 4 due to the expanded range of the system - but I'm a speed freak and love having specific devices plugged directly into the unit (4 ethernet ports). A tall device but very stylish. The brightness of the green light can be lowered or turned off.

Yeah, it's spendy, but it beats the Deco W7200 I only had for 6 months by miles. The Deco, as well as its app, was not great. When it worked, it worked pretty well, but I had constantly had problems with poor speed, dropped signal, and buffering. I had to reboot 3 or 4 times per day. I pay for decent speed (500mps) and on a good day, would get around 450, but then it would drop down to 1-10 and I would have to reboot, then it would go up to maybe 250 or so. With the AmpliFi my speed has increased to a solid 800 and there is no buffering at all. Setup was easy and the app works well if I want to switch channels or do anything else, but it's not so loaded that I get myself in trouble by changing a bunch of settings. Also, in my 2400 sq. ft. tri level home, I'm getting great signals throughout my home WITHOUT an additional MeshPoint add on. I'm pretty stoked and I think this thing is the bomb. I think that when people say that this is a "set it and forget it" router, they're right.

This router was super easy to install and it has great range and is very fast. I now have wifi 6 everywhere. It even reaches my outdoor security cams. No problem. The screen makes it easy to use. There are a few confusing settings, but generally the default is all you need. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Bought 2 of these and I'm amazed at the ease of setup, the reliability of them, the coverage, and of course the speeds. Not only are they neat because of the OLED screens but they are quite reliable. I just wish it had either link aggregation or a 2.5G port for my modem to connect at even fast speeds.

This is a well engineered router. The router seems very high quality and has good material. The router covers my whole home which is a two-story, 2200 ft house.. no mesh needed. The front display informs you when updates are ready.. a good security feature. Additionally, you can run network tests from the display. The Android app is also very awesome. I can use it to toggle my DNS settings between my Open DNS parental control servers and ISP. I can also perform tests from the Android app to make sure my internal network is fine and my internet service provider connection is optimal. This router has many great features and is designed to work well. However, the trade-off is, if you're used to granular control of your networking gear, you may want to rethink this router. I can tell that the manufacturer wants it to run well so you may not have as many features to tune. I believe the manufacturer makes it this way so that, in general, the router performs extremely well. I highly recommend this router. 7.6 Gigabits per second and Wi-Fi 6 at this price is a steal

I'll try not to repeat everything mentioned in other reviews, I just wanted to list out the pros and cons, so people know before paying this much for a WiFi 6 router. Pros + Nice form factor with a small footprint. Doesn't take up a ton of desk space compared to other high-end routers. + WiFI 6 capable, but with a caveat (see first con below) + Screen is pretty cool and actually is somewhat useful. + Range is really good for our 3,000 sq/ft home, but I haven't compared it to any other WiFi 6 routers. + Speed seems fast, but again, no rigorous testing. Definitely faster than my previous router, an ASUS RT-66U, but that thing was 9 years old! Cons - No 160Ghz channel support (required for WiFi 6's best performance) - Doesn't support WPA3 - No client data usage logging - No system log. I only found this out after my Alien spontaneously rebooted overnight. I thought I could look at the log to figure out what happened, but there's no system log! - No HTTPS for web admin interface - The only way to add a mesh access point is to buy a second Alien. You could purchase the Alien + Mesh combo, for a SLIGHT discount, but that's not as flexible as just buying two Aliens and using one in AP mode. The lack of 160GHz channel support and WPA3 are reportedly in the works by Amplifi, but I'm not banking on it. The current firmware is three months old with no updates. Had I known about these cons before I purchased it, I probably would have tried the ASUS AX5700 (RT-AX86U) first, as it's ~$150 less. The "Dong knows tech" web site rates it higher than the Alien and it's much cheaper to add an access point by purchasing any ASUS AiMesh-capable device. Dong had a pretty good WiFi 6 round-up here: https://dongknows.com/best-wi-fi-6-routers/

Fastest router setup ever, literally one minute from start to finish. If there’s a firmware update add about four minutes or so. I get full ISP speeds over Wi-Fi and wireless with no issues. Incredible range, covers 2400 sq. ft. with no mesh, extenders, etc. I can stream front yard, back yard, even my neighbors yard five houses down the street with no dropouts or freezing. All of my Apple stuff, cameras, printers, speakers, computers, streaming boxes, TVs, all connect and work fine with no issues. You can control the Alien through the front LCD screen (very cool), the Amplifi app or the web UI. If you need to cover a castle or a really big house you can get the Alien Mesh system or add another Alien later and cover a huge area. So far the Alien has been rock solid, great range and speed both wired and Wi-Fi. A top class stand alone router. Highly recommended.

Great range, easy to set up, reliable. This router did the trick for a small 2-story condo - it reaches every part of the home. Beautiful display screen (Is it needed on a router? Probably not, but really cool). App to manage network is missing some features, but overall very impressed.

After considerable research I purchased this router. I had heard such amazing things about ubiquiti's amplifi systems and I ended up purchasing this on a whim. The setup was simple with a download of the app and I was ready to go within a minute. The main hub includes a touch screen and you can run a speed test direct from the unit itself. The default screen shows upload and download speeds, network activity and what devices you have connected. It also states temperature, cpu usage and memory allocation. Within the app you can change network settings and monitor devices connected. You can also assign icons to each device you have connected. The range on the unit seems to cover my entire townhouse with just one unit. So far everything has gone well. My only complaint is the price.

Excellent speed and uptime. I have had the Alien for over a month and haven't had to restart it yet, other than a software update after about two days. Constant 1gb up and down on our fiber connection. My house is 4000 square feet with three floors and the connection is strong everywhere. The Wifi 6 speeds are excellent. I went from a mesh system back to a single router and couldn't be happier. Additionally the customization options are great on the Alien, very similar to Ubiquiti's Enterprise manager yet slimmed down for a consumer environment. 10/10

Easy set up. Amazing speed. Great app to help set up and monitor your network. Adding a second one to extend coverage/mesh was a piece of cake. Only issue i found was that i wanted to integrate them with Apple Home (a major reason for selecting it). Which they will - except if you set two as a mesh. Oh well. Kept the mesh setup however to make sure coverage was decent upstairs on opposite side of house from main router.

I decided to upgrade my ASUS RT5300. After realizing I don't really use any of the "Advanced Features " often enough to justify the AX11000 I decided to try the Alien for it's simplicity. I am very pleased with this purchase. It is very fast, easy to setup and handles a family with three teenagers and two work from home adults with no issue. It was so easy to setup I thought I did it wrong. Everything works just fine. I see my iPhones on WiFi 6 (it puts devices on the best wifi for them automatically) and it handles security on its own. Setup took about 10 minutes for all 21 wireless devices (Security cameras set at full 4k streaming included). Not a lot to play around with in the settings, but that just stops me from playing with them to see "what happens".

Very easy to understand, powerful and reliable router with amazing coverage even with a single base unit. The Alien easily covers our moderately sized house and our yard. By far one of the most outstanding features from our previous router (Apple Airport Extreme) is not just the speed, but the ability to support many simultaneous devices at the same time without any loss in speed. Finally the front display with the updated UI and informatics is very useful and provides awesome eye-candy as well. Very happy with this router and while it was expensive, I feel the cost is well justified given all the features and performance.

Absolute beast of a router. The set up is true to their word and took only a few minutes to complete. Once the intial setup was complete I disabled my ISP's wireless bands and set up a DMZ between the ISP router and the Alien. The Amplifi Alien app allows you to do mostly anything you need (see your devices, set static IPs, open ports, etc.). My ISP's router was so weak I needed two mesh nodes to cover my house. The Alien is setup in the exact same spot and covers the entire house by itself. Worth every penny, I now believe the hype.

If you want the best router, this hands down the best router on the market. (NO CAP) Everything you want in a router, this does and MORE!! The price may seem high but trust me, it’s worth it. I’ve bought other high end routers, none touching AMPLIFI. From setting up, to connectivity, its a breeze. I’m finally getting the speeds I pay for my internet and it’s not dropping or lagging. I also didn’t even need an extender this time bc the WiFi signal is strong that it puts out. (Well over 15 devices connected) It has a touch screen and app so setup is easy and allows you to keep track of everything going on with it. So when looking for the best router money can buy, don’t waste your time looking at other brands, go ahead and cop the alien. You won’t regret it.

I recently went to Fiber only for TV (YouTube TV) and internet. I tried some mesh systems due to the 2000sq foot 3 level townhouse. The results were disappointing. I had mesh devices on all 3 levels but they would lose connection and had slow connections for some devices. Ended up getting this Alien device and absolutely love this device. We have 5 family members and about 20+ wifi devices, phones, computer, game systems etc. We can have 5 video streams going, gaming on PCs and consoles without any interruptions or lagging. This thing just works. It has 16 spatial streams... think lanes on a highway... the more streams (16 lanes), the more data is moving along at the same time compared to a 2 lane highway. Now, for people with their strange expectations of wireless tech... some things to consider. Your ISP max speeds may not get to your phone purely due to the devices max speed... you must check that first... e.g. my android device has max receiving speeds of 400Mbps due to its particular Qualcomm chipset and the antennae it contains, even if I have 1Gbps ISP internet service... I will never ever get more than 400 on that particular device. The newest iPhone can receive at ~1200 due to MU-MIMO (think 2 or 3 lanes being used by this phone) which this router fully supports. My MacBookPro 30 feet away and through 3 walls gets 400Mbps real world speeds due to its 3x3 antennae setup over Wifi 6. We also have 2 wifi 6 (AX) capable Windows computers and all have fabulously fast connection speeds (1000+). Please do your homework about your devices that are connecting via wifi when interpreting connection speeds. Your neighbors wifi, microwaves, and other electronics can also disrupt yours if on same wifi broadcasting channels. The Alien can auto switch to better, more open channels. Also now has 160MHz channels, and VPN service... something you usually pay a seperate company to provide, enabled via last firmware 3.6.2 update. VPN allows you to have all your phone traffic go through your Alien router when away from your wifi network such as at a hotel or a venue pending them blocking that function of course. It's essentially a secure internet connection when on public wifi. Either way, this is probably the best consumer router available, at a cost but as the saying goes... you get what you pay for. For me the $465 (bought 4 years extended care) is well spent keeping everyone in the house happy with very fast internet and no lagging. I figure a router typically is good for 5 years, so I'm spending less than $100/year. If you are a techy that wants to manipulate router settings all the time.... then this device is Not for you. This is a set it and forget it product. Took me 5 minutes to set up after plugging it in. Take the plunge... you can always return it to BB if your outcome is negative.

Purchased this to replace 2016 Google OnHub. I have 45 connected devices, so I was looking for a router that had similar ease of use. The router set up was very fast and it recognized all of my devices immediately. Simple app with features like VPN for mobile and chromebook devices and an adblock setting (my favorite!). New routers can be a hassle with an existing setup, but this has worked really well for my situation. Very stable, good range and speeds. Working from home, I needed something dependable and easy to set up.

I already had a 2 node mesh running in my house. Needed an addition node to extend my WIFI into our basement (which has a theater setup and game room) and to our pool for us to stream music and TV. Adding this node accomplished this. It was extremely easy to add this node, which I expected because AmpliFi is usually easy to configure. Had it up and running in under 5 minutes. As with anything from AmpilFi it is expense but to get WiFi 6 mesh it is a little high.
