Worth it, you get what you pay for
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was the second mesh setup I tried after first buying the Asus Zenwifi XT8 Wifi6 Mesh setup. I was replacing a TP-Link router which worked great for about 5 years (favorite router to that point, recommended at least 5 different times to people) but it was starting to show its age and couldn't keep up with the growing number of smart home devices on our network and bandwidth requirements (was an older 802.11ac model so of course). The Amplifi Alien was my preferred option to begin with, but went with the Asus based on fairly even reviews, the dedicated wireless backhaul of the Asus, and the Asus being much cheaper. My experience with the Asus was great to start (the first few days). But I ended up spending time weekly trying to get it working right (I'm a techie so know what I'm doing), and finally gave up after complaints from the family that "its worse than the old router" and 6 months of unending troubleshooting, reverting firmwares, resetting to factory settings every few weeks to try again, etc. etc. etc. So I finally gave up and bought two of the Amplifi Aliens to replace it, and couldn't be happier. It worked great to start, but a little tuning and it's been rock solid and performing great. I went in a bit nervous as this is billed as "the Apple of routers", so I was worried about the lack of configuration options (advanced users, do your research in case it's missing something you need). But the simplicity I see as a huge positive, even as a tech saavy user. 95% of people don't need all the bells and whistles, so for the rest of us this is refreshing and does "just work". You aren't chasing weird issues all the time with this thing. Even things like my wireless surround that I had to mess with to prevent interference between it and the router, just worked. This has become my favorite router of all time, and I couldn't be happier. It's fast, has great coverage, is dead simple to administer and customize, and it has everything most people need and then some. I haven't missed the dedicated wireless backhaul. Yes, it's a little pricier than some, but still competitive or even cheaper than it's high end competition (looking at you, Orbi). If you are on the fence and comparing to others, buy the Amplifi Aliens. You can thank me later.

Good replacement router for fiber service!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used this to replace my factory router for CenturyLink Fiber. Connected directly from the ISP provided ONT device to the Alien Wifi 6 using PPPoE. Get your PPPoE login information from CenturyLink by calling their customer service line or login to the administrator console it can be found there as well on select CenturyLink provided modems. VLAN Tag needs to be on with the code 201. Improved speeds, more than advertised. I am advertised at 940Down/940Up and am getting 970 down and 960 up now. Wifi speeds have improved dramatically. Absolutely recommend.

Amazing!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say I’m shocked! I use to have a linksy router and I always had WiFi issues in my home. We tried everything moving it around and even trying extenders and that even never really fixed our issue. We always had random drop outs and weak spots in the home. So we upgraded our router and load and behold it has a steep price but it works!! We don’t have any issues with drop outs or lagging or slow internet it actually works perfectly. And our WiFi actually seems to have more range!! It’s awesome. I honestly really recommend this router if you have issues with WiFi and if you have a lot of things connected to it. I really love it to be honest.

Very happy. Buy it.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Completely fixed our WiFi problems. We had a Orbi mesh system before and had nothing but problems. This has replaced the mesh with a single router and gives a much stronger signal and speed. Highly recommend it. It’s worth the money

Long range mesh system
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a mesh setup with 3 of these, works amazingly! I live on the second floor and I have 2 in my apartment and one downstairs in the garage and it gets enough signal to provide 300mbps in the garage.

Reliable and Fast Unlike the Competition
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not the most feature rich router to customize (if you're tech savvy and like to tinker) but more importantly it's one of the most stable and fastest routers I've used. To me that's more important. Range isn't as far as other's I've used but it's still way above average in speed and distance. I bought two of them to make a mesh. Do that and spend the few extra dollars rather than the combo package of router + mesh because if the router fails the mesh is useless and cannot be used with a different router.

The “Alien”
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We produce a podcast called Mysterious Radio so we had to have speed! We got rid of that snail from Xfinity and purchased a surfboard S33. Then we bought two of these right out the gate and OMG are they fast!! You will definitely need to upgrade the ethernet cable that comes with it. We searched online and purchased a Cat8 cable which is more than enough. The speed test went up quite considerably. Set the alien free and open up all the frequencies, Turn on the additional 5G radios, band steering and router steering. Enjoy!

Wow
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a technology enthusiast with a longstanding penchant for high-end routers, I have been consistently disappointed with the underwhelming WiFi and LAN speeds of my previous purchases. However, my recent acquisition of the Alien Amplifi Router has left me thoroughly impressed. The performance of my network has been nothing short of exceptional, with unparalleled speed and unbridled freedom. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this router highly enough for those seeking a truly exceptional networking experience.

A TOWER TO RULE THEM ALL!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is jaw dropping phenomenal! Made me return a pair of Orbi's and i thought i had solved my wifi issue P.S, i got rid of google finally i got tired of them being in my business and forcing me to use the home app!! Enter the Amplifi Alien! I stumbled across this monster on youtube! Everything in my house is using this one router and i mean everything! I like that you can turn off the base light as well as the lcd screen. And really like the customization such as being able to not only your devices but also put built in photo related icons. Incredible! Forgot to mention im in a two story townhouse rougly about 2000 sq feet.

Great router for the price.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easily the best router for the price. 2x faster speeds vs the unifi hd mesh. House is 5000 sqft and can get at least 1/2 our max internet speed in every part of the home.

Great router, strong signal, easy to use
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My decision to purchase this router after reading the reviews both on best buy and online was the right choice. I came from having the worst year and a half of loosing signal from a Linksys router to having no drops at all these past few days. The router was easy to setup, looks great, and provides actual status on the device itself. I don’t want to speak to soon, but my issues have been resolved with this router, 13 total devices and it has no problems handling the load.
