    Great album!

I was so excited to see that De La's album was available. The album was first marketed through Kickstarter, an innovation in and of itself, for a veteran group. I've been buying albums from these guys since 3 Feet High and Rising. This new effort is very different from their other albums in that there are lots of guests from many different genres of music. The eclectic nature of this album makes it unique among De La albums but it still maintains the beginning to end listening quality which engenders the other albums by these guys. It's a great quality album with lots of re-listening potential.

A Step Forward and A Welcome Return

I can't recommend this album enough to long time fans of De La Soul. The Anonymous Nobody has it all. Today's hip hop isn't afraid to use live instrumentation and put unique musicianship on display. This album has smooth, original music that is nods to their styles of the past while managing to be current. The album has a loose concept that it follows, but it isn't married to it so much that it takes away from individual tracks. There are a lot of interesting guest artists who contribute to the album. My only complaint, and it is a small one, is that I wish there was a spotlight on Maseo's DJ skills somewhere on the album. I am a big fan of cutting and scratching skills and Maseo is a favorite.

...been a fan since potholes in my lawn, and the the jb's were on the run to instinctive travels...This offering is just solid. Listen a couple times for it to settle in. The Pete rock/Estelle cut is a major classic for easy listening, but the whole effort is one for the record...very authentic and different from contemporary mainstream sound...dainnersoulyall...

They're back! Back at it as if they never left. If you are a true hip hop head, this one gives you life. Not like what is being played on the radio. Thank You De La Soul for putting this album out. Love it!!! One of the best albums of 2016!

    A New Classic

This CD was crafted to be listened to as a whole in the tradition of Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire or mid 1970's Stevie Wonder. Each track was crafted to join with the track before and after. Not just a couple hit radio songs with 13 additional tracks of filler like so many of today's artists put out. Buy this and open your mind to great music, hip hop and otherwise.

Wow, I'm very surprised by this cd

I have been a fan of the De La since the beginning and I have to say, this cd surpassed my expectations. Kind of reminds me a bit of Candiria with the hiphop tracks being live recorded instruments, but not in a bad way. This music is original and thought provoking. Been jamming this ever since the day it was released. Get it!

De La Soul Return With Smooth Hip Hop

    |
    Posted .

It doesn't sound like what you'd expect, but it's a cohesive well produced album with some pretty high points. Really like drawn, here in after, whoodeni, greyhounds, and exodus. Not a classic by any means but a really solid showing and I struggle to think of an album other than life is good that's this good this late in a rappers / groups career.

    Great Stories

Really different. Very eclectic. Each song seems to be its own story and has its own style based on which artist they collaborated with. DID NOT like it the first time i listened to it. When i read the lyrics with subsequent listenings I really LOVED it and appreciate what they did with this album. NOT OLD SCHOOL De La, but a GREAT JOURNEY

A Phenomenal Excursion Into the Familiar and New

For any De La Soul fan this is a must cop, from the production to the lyrics, the album plays beautifully from start to finish. For anyone that just enjoys hip-hip in general, this release is sure to please and provide a break from the hip-pop that has become monotonous in recent years. Give it a listen and you won't be dissapointed!

De La back from the dead

    |
    Posted .

De La Soul's last album, "The Grind Date", happens to be my favorite of theirs. Even though it's been 10 years or so since that one dropped, "And The Anonymous Nobody" feels like a direct continuation of that album in the best possible ways. It has a similar vibe, but there is plenty of musical growth.

This is what rap is supposed to be! This modern day syzurp mumble rap cannot hold a candle even though it supposedly is influenced by De la Soul and the like. I was most impressed with the music on this album.. jazzy, funky, old school and rock and roll! THANK YOU!

    Rap with musicianship

I've been meaning to check out some De La Soul, then this came out so I picked it up. What separates this from a lot of the garbage rap is these guys obviously care about the musicianship, and it seems to have more substance than most rap.

This is one of the best De La Soul albums I’ve ever heard. People need more music like this. It’s refreshing to know that there is still great hip-hop music being produced. It’s a hip-hop classic!

Stands mostly on the heels of good collaborations and a nice soundscape, there may not be a lot of substance here when looking at the big dogs of hip hop, but it's a fun album.

It's nice to hear a legendary group make a come back in this new era of hip hop. All tracks are great with them having a live band backing them up. A great album for those that grew up in the golden era of rap.
