Horrible video quality

It looks like it takes video at 480p and interpolates it to a higher resolution. Very poor image quality. See the extracted frame from a video which was taken at 1440 resolution.

The first mount wouldn't stick. Called their customer service and for the mere price of $10.00 received two items that probably cost roav
50 cents apiece. Very disappointed that they would treat a customer and potential reviewer in that fashion, but I guess they aren't looking for any referrals. Or maybe they just weren't listening to my problem.

Discreet Dashcam

Since writing this review a year ago, the dashcam is still going strong through heat and freezing temps.
Since I have recently started commuting 75 miles a day, I have been looking at dashcams and the Roav C1 has been on my list. When I saw the Pro version added GPS and 2k resolution, it shot to the top of the list. The camera itself is wedge shaped with a 2.4” LCD screen and four buttons below. The large power button on the side has a small light in the middle that blinks to let you know it’s recording. The is a small speaker on the same side as the power button. I don’t like my devices talking and beeping at me so I turned the “machine sound” setting off.
Installation
The camera attaches to the windshield via an adhesive plastic mounting plate. (this isn’t going to come off unless you really want it to, so make sure you like where you are mounting it before pulling the backing off). The camera has a small battery but it’s only for standby power (for the parking monitor). To use for your daily drive, it needs to be plugged in. That’s where the included 2 port charger and micro usb cable come in. The 10’ cable is long enough to wrap around the headliner, under the A-pillar and under the driver (or passenger) foot area to plug into wherever the 12V power outlet is in your car. The included trim tool is very helpful to get the wire into place. I don’t like visible wires in my car, so I ran it to the 12V outlet in my armrest compartment. It’s completely hidden, but was just long enough...in a larger car, you may need an extension (or longer cable). Once in place (I mounted directly under my rearview mirror mount), the camera is completely blocked from my view (by the rearview mirror). As long as it’s connected to power, it will power on and start recording as soon as you start the car, it’s really “set it and forget it”.
Settings/Usage
First of all, I would recommend inserting your micro SD card in the slot and formatting it (via the camera settings). The second thing I would do is to update the camera’s firmware. This can be done through the Roav app (available for iPhone and Android).
The app is also how you can easily access your videos via WiFi. Once connected you will see your video clips (organized by date/time). You can play the videos (along with a map of the route if GPS was enabled) or save them to your device. One option I would like to see implemented is the ability to save videos to an external card on the device. As of now, they will only save to the internal storage.
Conclusion
Overall, this is a great camera. It’s discreet, user friendly and seems well built. Video quality is good and the parking monitor (which will record a 30 second video if the gravity sensor detects motion) is a nice feature. I feel a little safer with the Roav C1 Pro stuck to my windshield.
Pros
2K Resolution
GPS
Parking Monitor
In-car audio recording is good
Roav app (overlay of speed and location data is pretty cool)
Set it and forget it
Cons
Should come with more than one mounting plate so it can be used in multiple vehicles
Could be difficult to angle the camera lens depending on the angle of the windshield

Had this installed by bestybuy 6 weeks ago. This is my second dash cam and by far the best. It is user friendly, very good video (day and night) and sync's with my iPhone with no problem. Downloading to the iPhone does seem slow (maybe 4 or 5 minutes) but it works. It is much faster to upload to a computer, I have not had any problems with this dash cam at all. It works flawlessly.

Purchased the ROAV 3yrs ago. It has lasted longer than any other cam I've owned. I liked all the features. I would still be using it, but for this one stupid thing. The android phone I had connected, died. Without the phone, I can't remove it from the unit. My new phone can't connect. You can't have more than one phone connected. It still works, but I can't use it without the app. It now is a paper weight.
