Customers are delighted by the PowerConf Bluetooth Speakerphone's excellent sound quality, long battery life, and ease of use. Users appreciate its simple Bluetooth pairing, compact size, and broad compatibility with various devices. However, some have noted that the speaker lacks bass and have experienced issues with the mute button's reliability.

You’d think that with the cost, one would have the best speaker/mic combo. The speaker and mute functionality worked great. The mic stopped working a few months after using, of course after the window of return. No one could hear me in meetings. It was a waste of money.

I purchased this device in 2021 and it’s worked great. Out of the blue it just stopped working. Now it will randomly start making a very loud screeching sound which is beyond weird. I unplugged it and it won’t stop. I literally had to take it out to my garage because it was so loud. I’m hesitant to purchase another one but maybe I just bought a lemon.

This device is complete for home, small office, or to travel. There nothing else to buy. You get the Power Conference device, a case, and a USB-C to USB-A cable for connection to your PC as well as charging.
The Power Conference device is what I’ve come to expect from Anker, an attractive well-built solid feeling device that looks at home in any office. The color in the description is listed as black, but it appears more like a dark grey color which looks contemporary,
The two mechanical buttons have a positive quality feel with no slop in them. The touch sensitive button on top work extremely well. There is a LED ring that gives you positive feedback when you press the buttons to raise/lower volume, mute, hang up, or play/pause media.
The Play button will also pause, though it’s not labeled as such. Play, Pause and volume up/down worked perfectly for me with iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Play and Sirius. This is not a great music speaker, surely low end, but far better than the laptops built in speakers for background music and podcasts while working. This is not the speaker you would use on the back deck or for a party.
The back of the device has a USB-C port. Use the included USB cable here and plug the other end into an AC adapter to charge, or your PC’s USB-A port to allow charging provided your PC USB port supports charging. You would also plug into your PC to use the PowerConf as a speaker and microphone on a conference call with software like Skype, Zoom, WebEx, and many others.
The battery is reported to last 24 hours, typically far more than you need to get through a day. You can use that stored power to charge a USB device. Just plug in its USB cable and it will start to charge. The PowerConf must be powered on to manage the charge. Note that a USB device will not charge when the PowerConf itself is plugged into a PC or AC Adapter. It must be otherwise untethered.
The form fitting case protects the device from scuffs and knocks, but does not need more room in your bag than necessary. It weighs more than other portable conference speakers, no doubt due to the large battery. Its usefulness is worth it to me.
I paired my iPhone 6+ to the PowerConf quickly with no issues whatsoever. Conference calls over Bluetooth worked perfect
This is one of the loudest portable Bluetooth conference speakers I have ever used. Plenty of volume for several people around an 8’ table. It is also the best sounding unit I have used. People on the other end come across very clear in a natural tone. I inquired how I sounded to others over the PowerConf and I was told good to better than normal. Apparently, my other unit, another brand, sounded a bit tinny. I apologized for a garbage truck outside my house, but apparently it was not noticeable thanks to the noise cancellation.
So far in testing, it works as a Bluetooth speaker/microphone with phones, as well as with Mac OSX and Windows 7 through 10 PC’s. I only tested on Windows 10. No drivers or software are needed to pair/install or for the functionality on the device itself. OSX and Windows 10, they have support built in for these devices. Initial connection and setup was not only plug and play, but very quick.
I used FaceTime and Skype on OSX and Skype for Business and WebEx on Windows 10 a few times. All worked as expected except for the mute button on the PowerConf. Though it showed muted, I was still heard on a Skype call. The sound was excellent. So much easier to make out was being said than with my older Bluetooth speaker or my laptops built in speakers and microphone. Not just louder but clearer. The six microphones around the unit worked great with the app set to ‘Multi-Person mode’. Everyone was heard well.
Anker has an app called Soundcore for iOS and Android that you will want. There is an option to create an account when you start the app, but it is not required. There is a skip button you can press to skip creating an account. I’m not sure what the account would be useful for, registration? The app supports other Bluetooth speaker devices, maybe it’s more for those other devices.
First off, you need this to update the firmware on the PowerConf. There was a 1.8MB update available when I installed it that listed improved noise reduction. It took about 7 minutes to download, install, and restart the PowerConf.
The app adds some extra features and controls not on the device itself.
• Pick a ‘Sound Mode’, Single-Person or ‘Multi-Person mode’. This will optimize the six microphones placed equally around the mid-section of the PowerConf for the best sound and noise cancellation.
• You can set the PowerConf to power off automatically after 5-60 minutes, or disable it. The default is 30 minutes.
• Enable/disable ‘Voice Prompt’ and ‘Indicator Light’. Default is on. These seem to do nothing. I toggled them off, exited the screen, the app, even rebooted the PowerConf. But there was no change to the LED lights on the unit and I never heard any voice prompts.
• Perhaps most useful is the app also has remote control of volume, mute, and power buttons on the PowerConf. Very useful if the PowerConf is placed in the middle of the good size table out of reach.
The PowerConf is a high quality device and aside from a problem with the mute button on a Skype call, all worked as expected with excellent sound quality. I suspect this will be fixed in a firmware update if possible. The sound quality is excellent for a phone box, it can play loud enough to fill a good sized room, and the microphones work better than any other similar device I have used in the past. This and the extra features in the app earns it a spot on my desk and in my bag as well as 5 stars.

The Anker Powerconference speakerphone is a must have device for anyone making conference calls, or for anyone who has a hard time hearing on the phone.
The Powerconference, is small enough to fit in your hand, yet made of good quality materials. The top of the speaker has a glass-type touchscreen, with 5 buttons: mute, answer/end call, vol +/vol -, and play/pause. Around the buttons is an LED light ring, that shines according to specific functions. There are 6 omni-directional microphones placed around the speaker, which can pick up audio in a 360 deg environment from up to 8 people. On the back of the speaker, there is a USB-C port that is used to charge the speaker, as well a a USB-A port that lets you charge your phone. There is also an AUX port if you want to connect older MP3 players. The speaker also comes with a nice finely crafted carrying case.
The Speakerphone has a talk time of 24 hours on a single charge, and with USB-C, the device charges up pretty fast. Connecting the speaker is very simple, just pair it as you would a normal bluetooth device with your phone, and you're connected. There is also an app called soundcore, that acts a companion app. The app doesn't offer that many features other then it lets you switch from single person use, to multi person use. I tried both methods, and they seem to work exactly the same.
I made my first call through bluetooth on my iPhone. Normally, I don't get the best reception in my home, so when I talk, my calls tend to cut in and out. With the Powerconference connected, I made a call, and I couldn't believe how crisp and clear the call came through. Not only that, but I could finally hear the person on the other end loud and clear and they could hear me very clear.
I wanted to test out the multi directional mics, so I brought the family in and made a conference call to other family members. This time, I tried it out on my MacBook via USB-C. The speakerphone picked up everyones voice perfectly, also the LED lights up in the direction a person is talking.
When you don't need to make a call, the speakerphone also acts as a bluetooth speaker that lets you play music. The sound quality is superb, and sounds very bright and clear. Like any bluetooth speaker, you can control the music playback from the speaker itself. With the play button, push once to play/pause, twice to skip tracks, and 3 times to rewind tracks.
Overall, the Powerconference, is an essential tool. I finally have no problem hearing when I'm on the phone, and the other end can hear me just as clear. The 6 omni-directional mics can pic up audio perfectly, not to mention does a fantastic job at noise canceling. The fact that it works as a great bluetooth speaker for audio is an added bonus. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has a phone.

After spending several days with the Anker PowerConference Bluetooth Speakerphone, I have to say I really like this device. Since beginning telework, I’ve been using a wired Jabra 410 rather than my computer and Android phone (with an adapter) speakers and microphone.
The PowerConference connects via bluetooth as well as wired if your computer does not support bluetooth. I connected the PowerConference to a PC, a Mac, Android and iPhone, I had no issues connecting to anything, wired and wireless. I especially like that you just have to press the bluetooth connect button to put it in pairing mode, no long holds like other bluetooth devices. Also, there are no PC drivers to install, both formats recognized the PowerConference immediately. When connected to any device, the Anker PowerConference Bluetooth Speakerphone does take over as the main speaker/microphone device.
I installed the Anker Soundcore app to the phones and as soon as it recognized the speaker it told me there was a firmware update, I believe this was to allow the speaker to be connected with a wire to a computer along with a bluetooth device at the same time. The update only took a couple of minutes and the PowerConference connected with both my phone and Mac like this. You can not connect to multiple devices with bluetooth however. There seemed to be a bit of a lag for phone sounds when it was connected this way, however, phone calls went through as soon as they connected.
I used Microsoft Teams and Zoom on both computers and the speaker worked as designed. The volume controls, mute and end call worked as expected. The mute was nice because it only muted the speaker and didn't show me as muted on Teams or Zoom.
Sitting around the dining room table, sound quality was better than I expected, the other parties could hear us clearly and background noise was minimal. This was the case regardless of how we connected to the speaker. Several comments on the sound quality. It was definitely better and louder than the speaker on either phone, but I would have liked the volume to be a bit louder at its highest setting; I would have also liked there to be a wider, more fluid range to the volume control, especially at the lower settings. When listening to music or video, the PowerConference does ok but the bass is severely lacking, just remember this is designed as a speaker phone, not a high fidelity bluetooth speaker. I also used the speaker in my car. The called party sounded excellent in the speaker and they could hear me but the PowerConference was not able to completely drown out the engine and highway noise. The called party said the sound wasn't painful and was more than acceptable to continue the call. Again, louder volume would have helped here as well.
The PowerConference says it has up to 24 hours of run time on a charge and it came with about an 80% charge. I’ve been using bluetooth for 3 days and there is still plenty of battery left for another day or so with my use. It did charge fully while connected to the pc’s with the USB C connection. The PowerConference does have a charging port that can power your phone as well. There is also an Aux Out connection to attach another speaker if desired.
I highly recommend the Anker PowerConference Bluetooth Speakerphone to anyone who doesn’t like to wear a headset or has a need for a professional speakerphone for their dining room table meetings. The portable convenience for this speaker, battery life and sound quality make this a must-have for any road warrior.

Professional Speakerphone for the Home

The Anker PowerConference Bluetooth Speakerphone is a powerhouse that brings professional level conference calling to the home. Measuring just under 5" square by about 1 1/4" high, it is completely self contained with massive battery power onboard: 6,700mAh to be exact. This battery provides 24 hour call time.
One of my favorite features is that the Anker serves as a battery charger for your cell phone! A portable power pack is one less item I do not need to carry on trips, since it is built-in.
Those familiar with using Amazon Echo & Echo Plus ("Alexa") are familiar with far field sound pick up. This speakerphone embodies the exact technology, including 6 built-in microphones that pick up voices from a moderate sized conference room to a home office. All voices are amplified and processed so they sound the same volume to the listener. My use is 1-2 people in a home office. Voices are picked up clearly and at equal volume, despite varying distance from the speakerphone and sound as clearly as if we are holding a cell phone.
Another feature I like is the Bluetooth connectivity. It simply works with any cell phone.
CONCLUSION: The Anker Bluetooth Speakerphone is a practical addition to the traveler & to a home office. It includes the massive battery to charge cell phones, it connects simply by Bluetooth, and most importantly, it captures clear, equal volume voices. I highly recommend it.

Well made conference call speakerphone

So in terms of what it was designed for, this is a pretty sweet product. Connects via Bluetooth in seconds. It has very clear audio to hear the other party; 6 mics all around the base of this speaker, 1 in each corner, 1 in the middle, and 1 on the opposite side of the last mic. It’s perfect for a room with several people as it picks up audio from all sides exceptionally well. An added touch is the ring light on the top as the ring shifts for various operations from raising/lowering volume and a mic picking up audio. It also shifts to red (from blue) when placed on mute which is a good visible indicator. It does exceptionally well with a single charge, assuming you’re not charging other devices off it, I’ve got about 16hrs and still has some juice to go.
As an added bonus it doubles as a speaker for music as well as a portable charger, although, admittedly it lacks much bass. In comparison, any of the popular smart hockey puck sized speakers have a better output in this area (and to my standards, entry model smart speakers still lack quality). As a portable charger, you should expect to get roughly 1.5 charges for any flagship phone. Don’t expect the same for a phablet or tablet.
So does it have any flaws/nitpicks/problems?
My only real complaint is that it should of had some type of feedback when pressing down the capacitive sensing touch buttons on the top besides the color shift. A light beep or vibration would of been perfect.
My second, 6700 mAH is a bit small. Yet there is a hefty weight to the speaker.
All-in-all, it’s a very nice speakerphone and for my limited uses it hits 5 stars. The included carrying case is a nice added bonus. Just do yourself a favor and don’t buy this with the intention of only playing music.

Regarding the hardware controls, our product team is working on this. And we will try our best to implement this feature in the near future. These days with so many people working from home, conference calls and online meetings have become more prevalent than ever before. For those whose professions require these activities, you know the frustration that comes from not being able to hear or understand the person(s) on the other end. Unclear voices that break up, sound like they are in a tin can, or echo as if they are calling from a canyon. Well this PowerConference bluetooth speakerphone from Anker may just be the solution we've been hoping for.
Setup is incredibly easy. I connected to an iPhone SE via bluetooth, and a MacBook Air via USB. Both were straightforward and uncomplicated.
Traditional phone calls were clear and crisp. Volume adjustments and muting worked as they should with the onboard buttons. Background noise cancellation is actually quite good. Those with whom I called stated they were able to hear me clearly, though they could tell they were on speakerphone. The six circumferential microphones do a fantastic job of picking up audio from any direction.
I utilized this device for online collaboration with Zoom, Google Meet, and Jitsi. With all three platforms I noticed the mute function on the device did not actually mute my microphone. I wondered if this was a limitation of the platforms, or possibly something with my setup. I went online to see if there was a fix for this, and noticed it appears other users seem to have the same experience. I honestly do not know why this occurs or what the solution is - if there is one. I simply used the mute button within the software for the specific platform I was using. Not a big deal. Other than that small issue, the call quality was fantastic. Again, very clear and easy to hear. So much better than the built-in speakers on both my MacBook Air and iPhone SE.
The battery life is great, and I appreciate the fact this speaker doesn't have to be plugged in for use. You should be able to get multiple days of use between charges.
Build quality is very good. Solid feel in the hand, quality finish. This does not feel cheaply made and is aesthetically pleasing. I love the small footprint and form factor which make this speakerphone easily portable. The included clamshell carrying case helps to keep your speakerphone safe from damage.
One additional benefit is the ability to charge other devices directly from this speakerphone using the built-in USB-A and USB-C ports.
I have to say, I'm pretty impressed overall with the quality and reliability of this device. Voices are crisp and clear. Noise cancellation is effective and above average. Microphones detect voices well. Solid build quality and battery life. All this while being easily portable. I have no issue recommending this to friends, family, or co-workers.
