Speaker sounds great but so-so outgoing quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many others, nearly all my meetings are virtual these days. I initially started out almost exclusively participating via laptop or desktop, but lately I have found myself frequently calling into online meetings from my cell phone. My phone allows me the freedom and convenience of joining meetings from anywhere but also has some drawbacks, particularly if others want to join me on the call but we need to adhere to social distancing. I decided to try the Anker PowerConf to see if it would provide me with a more efficient and better sounding solution when using my phone. This speaker is designed to function like a portable conference room phone. It has multiple mics for improved coverage and clarity, especially with multiple people on a single phone for a call. Sound quality through the speaker is very good for both communications and media. System sounds, media files and music all sound clear with little or no distortion. Cellular and online calls and meetings through apps like Teams also sound good on my end but sometimes I’ll hear very brief intermittent distortion like clipping. I don’t know whether the speaker or device is to blame but it’s very minor and not at all a big deal. I’ve received mixed feedback about outbound quality. Most people say I sound fine, but some say I sound a little muffled or like I’m not close enough to the mic. I tested voice quality against a regular speakerphone from several similar angles and distances and I agree with the people who reported the latter. I myself preferred the regular phone over the PowerConf because it sounded clearer and less like a speakerphone. The PowerConf’s outbound sound isn’t bad but it isn’t particularly good either. I’d rate outbound sound quality as fair. People on the other end can understand and hear me with reasonable clarity which is all that matters for most of my meetings. Despite the merely fair outgoing voice quality, the six omnidirectional mics do a fantastic job of picking up sound from any angle. It doesn’t matter which side of the device someone speaks from. As long as they’re within a 6-7 foot radius, all voices sound consistent with very similar sound quality and loudness on the other end. The PowerConf works with several different devices and can connect via Bluetooth or USB. A USB-C to USB-A cable is included and can be used for both charging the speaker or connecting to devices. The speaker automatically powers up in Bluetooth pairing mode on first use and easily paired with my iPhone 11. It also easily paired with my MacBook Pro and Dell Latitude laptops with the push of a button. I’ve had no issues with it in either Windows 10 or MacOS Catalina. It automatically powers on and installs on both operating systems when connected via USB. Both incoming and outgoing sound quality are the same over USB and Bluetooth. I haven’t observed any noticeable difference between the two. I use the iOS version of the Soundcore app. The app allows: • Firmware updates • Switching between single and multi-user modes • Remote volume control • Remote mic mute • Remote power off There are a few additional management features and controls in the app but those above are the most important and likely to be used. The app cannot remotely power the speaker on due to there being no Bluetooth connection while the speaker is off. I tried toggling between single and multi-user modes and also applied the latest firmware update to see if anything could improve my outbound sound. It sounds the same regardless of my efforts. Although the app can operate certain features remotely, the speaker also has hardware buttons for calls, power, mute, volume, Bluetooth pairing and a play button for music or other media. A rigid carrying case is also included but no AC charger. Power input is rated at 5V/2A, so I use my iPad charger with the included USB-C cable. Ports include a single USB-C port for charging the speaker, one USB-A charging port that can function as a power bank for charging mobile devices and a 3.5mm auxiliary jack for audio output to another speaker or audio device. The PowerConf is lightweight, compact, easy to tote around and battery life is good. Overall, it’s not a bad little conference speaker. Outbound sound could be better but as I mentioned above, it’s not exactly terrible either.

Perfect, Especially if You for Satellite Locations
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PowerConference Bluetooth speaker is so simple to use. It's great for any time I'm meeting with someone and need to bring other individuals for reference or networking. To be clear: it is easy to carry this in a small bag or briefcase (or even your pocket, but it is a bit big) to instantly turn any room into a conference room. IT sets up in moments, and works without any complex finagling; if you know how to pair a Bluetooth device with your phone, you are ready to use the Anker PowerConference speaker. It sounds crystal clear, and its battery is supposed to last for 24 hours, meaning that as long as it gets charged between meetings, it will ALWAYS be good to go.

Improvement over older competitors room to improve
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Working from home more than ever, I decided to opt in on an updated conference call speaker/mic (my other was a different brand - Sennheiser - but more than a few years old) for my wife as she spends ~10 hours a day on the phone and virtual meetings. Phone and laptop speakers being what they are (ie terrible), these conference speaker/mic setups are essential. To get it out of the way, the negatives. Volume control isn't precise at the lower side of the spectrum. It feels like it jumps from 0 to 15, then to 30, then finally falls into a nice 35, 40, 45, 50, etc etc pattern. I've noticed this on quite a few devices recently (other speakers, headphones, Bose Sunglasses) so while I'm not surprised, it is annoying nonetheless. It has a nice weight to it, solid construction, but the Sennheiser from a few years ago simply feels like a more quality unit. Lots of plastic and the buttons are just sort of there, not a lot of feel/feedback to anything. The older competitor has a lot of metal pieces, the buttons all have a quality feel to their action and nothing feels like it was short-changed quality-wise. Having said that, the Anker is no slouch, if I didn't have the Sennheiser I might never really notice it, but side-to-side it *is* something you notice. And that's about it, everything else is great. The sound quality is awesome for it's intended use. Music is not what this is meant for, you will not have full bass or good mids, so don't expect to use it for that. It could do it, and maybe for most it would be fine, but I find it a little limited in this regard, your mileage may very, though. But it's perfect for speaking voices and not sounding tinny or pingy, something that can get old really fast on a 2+ hour meeting. There are 6 speakers surrounding the perimeter and the lightring that runs around the center will illuminate to inform you which speaker is picking up sound, nice when you have multiple people in the area speaking on the same call, let's you know when multiple people speak who is cutting through the mix so others will give the floor to that individual. You'll get a solid days use out of it if you use it around the clock, and it also can charge your phone with it's onboard battery pack. Not something I'd rely on for non-stop power, but good when you're in a pinch. Improvement for next time around; better materials on some of the odds/ends (less plastic) but I'm splitting hairs and nit-picking there. At this price point it really isn't bad, but I would change it if I were able to. Even if it were just to had the top gated panel over the speakers be metal of some sort. The device itself is great, my only real gripes are aesthetic. Easy recommendation, especially if you can find it on sale.

Works great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very compact speakerphone which I have found to be useful even just using it alone on a call. When I am on a conference call the thing I am always nervous about is whether I am on mute, so I usually end up checking my phone constantly. On this device, the LED ring turns red when on mute so it is super obvious, and there is a mute/unmute button on the face which is very convenient. The volume can go quite loud and the sound quality is just fine for call. According to people on the other end, the mic quality is good too.

Add this to your holiday list
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We're all aware of how torturous conference calls can be when 1 or more people on the call are using a poor quality mic. Some of us are also familiar with the Airpod tango (where your Airpod batteries drain and you keep swapping them into the case 1 at a time in an attempt to make it through the rest of your call). --- The Anker conference speaker solves both of these problems. The speaker can be used wirelessly or via USB and includes a USB-C to USB-A cable which I plug into my Thunderbolt dock for a wired connection. I've noticed that after an hour or so, I get an error that the speaker is drawing too much power, but this seems to be an issue with the dock/Macbook Pro and not with the speaker. Luckily I can also use the speaker via bluetooth and sound is still crystal clear. The touch controls at the top let you mute and unmute yourself easily instead of fumbling with your mouse for the mute icon on Google Meet/GoToMeeting/WebEx . For whatever reason, the answer/call button doesn’t work with iOS, but once on a call, the volume and mute buttons on the speaker work perfectly. There’s an indicator light on the speaker to show you which mic is picking up sound and background noise is nonexistent (at least the background noise isn’t detected by others on the call). The companion app is useful for firmware updates and editing basic speaker settings. Sound and volume are quite impressive on this conference speaker. The Anker speakerphone includes a nice case for travel and the battery lasts all day if you’re using it wirelessly. With so many of us working remotely now, I’ll be gifting this to friends and family this holiday season.

Nice Solution For Constant Virtual Meetins
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's face it. We are in a new age with all the remote work and meetings we're having to do now and that's where this Anker PowerConference Bluetooth Speakerphone comes in. While I am not doing as much remote work as most the fact that my boss and a lot of the team "higher up" aren't allowed to travel means that we are doing a lot of calls. Every week. Multiple times a week. And while I have a decent phone in my office it's just a standard phone with a speaker phone built in. Not exactly the best when you have a room with 8 or 9 people in it trying to hear tiny sound and yelling to be heard by the insufficient mic. Plus, for some reason we do not have mics on our desktop computers at work and now we're doing WebEX calls all the time which means calling in on the phone and logging in with the computer. Enter this speakerphone from Anker. Problems solved. I can connect this to my desktop computer via USB without having to install drivers and everyone local in the meeting can be heard, and hear, clearly. On a recent call my boss asked why we sound so much better at our location. I mentioned having gotten this baby and now she has gone an bought one for herself. This thing is a life saver. It's small and light enough to throw in my backpack and take with me. The included carrying case is nice and provided plenty of protection. It's nice I can use this with my Windows PC at work or my MacBook Pro on home and on the go. Just for kicks I connected via Bluetooth to both my iPhone and iPad and it works like a champ. Best accessory of 2020, hands down!!!

Solid, most of the time!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device was mostly used from cell phones, so I can't speak to how it interacts with laptops. However! Calls were clear and easy, most of the time! Once we managed to mute someone, and couldn't quite figure out how to unmute them, so perhaps something a little more intuitive there would be of assistance. It is after all, meant for calls. The microphones were great, and they could capture voice from quite a distance! I could hear the person on the side with this device, even as he traveled around the house. Without the speaker moving! It seems to have an auto adjust, which worked well for the most part. It doesn't like sudden changes. There was a lid should from the television after a mute was accidentally turned off, and it took a good 5+ minutes for me to be able to hear the person on the other side properly again. It did eventually sort itself out, it just took a little while. The device itself is solidly built, and performs the task it was meant for well. It could probably also be used for a little music here and there, but don't expect it to pump out any heavy bass. Anker had plenty of other products that do, but this is not one of them. Overall, it's a fun, convenient speaker for group calls and meetings. It has the occasional quirk, but nothing that should prove too troublesome. Even mumblers can be heard! As long as they're nearby, of course. I would absolutely recommend this little box to anyone that is working from home, or in conference rooms at the office!

Compact and Clear
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Conference calls and virtual trainings are the new norm these days. This speakerphone is compact with a nice carrying case, easy to set up and use, and clearly picked up all participants in a small room. The presenter on the other end of the line said it was the clearest communication they’ve had since going virtual.

A Must Have
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I travel a lot between locations as I train staff and often I need to conference other folks in to the training. No longer am I tied to the wall or wherever the conference phone happens to be plugged in. Now I can easily pull this out of my bag and immediately connect to my mobile phone and bam.....I am connected. Right from the moment I opened this up I could tell this was going to be a pleasant experience. I love that this comes with a travel/carry case. I do not have to worry about it being tossed around in my bag, I know it will be protected and ready for when I need it. The connection to my phone was as easy as anything I have ever connected to it. I turned on the device and it is immediately in Bluetooth discovery mode. I went to the settings in my phone and there it was ready for me to connect. I could instantly stream music and then I was anxious to conduct my first call. WOW, I was quite impressed with the sound but also I heard from the others on the other end how well they could hear me. So the mics really picked up well around the room.

Super clear and very useful home office accessory
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As I have worked to adjust my home office setting to be the "new normal" in terms of work environment, I wanted to get something that had much better speakerphone quality than my current mobile device. While I am frequently on video calls during the day and use a headset, sometimes it's just easier to have a speakerphone handy. When I saw this product from Anker I was immediately intrigued and figured it was worth a shot. I'm absolutely glad that I did! The sound quality is pretty amazing for a speakerphone and other participants noted how clear I sounded as well. The device is really easy to use, pairs quickly, and does exactly what I need it to do. One tip - the device is rechargeable and you will want to pay particular attention to what you plug it into. I was having problems connecting from my mobile device initially and didn't realize I'd plugged the charging cable into my computer. This makes it an extension of your computer and that connection gets priority over your bluetooth. Once I figured out I was fighting myself it was a pretty easy fix.

Anker Bluetooth PowerConference Speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Note: We were provided a device from Anker (no strings attached) in exchange for our honest/unbiased review of the item. Three different people used this device with three different emphases. 1) As a standard 'speaker phone' connected to her computer, along with a mobile phone (both over bluetooth): As with many others, my daughter is attending on-line classes due to COVID. She used the Anker in place of her tablet's internal mic (which resulted in a dramatic improvement in quality for those listening to her) and also in place of her high-end logitech webcam's microphone (which was a wash, as both devices provided excellent sound quality). She also used the Anker to connect to her iphone 8 plus, which provided a slight improvement in mic quality. In all cases (computer, webcam, and iphone) the sound quality projected by the Anker on her end was excellent, and using bluetooth was easy and reliable. 2) As a portable battery (connected through an apple cable): My son's iphone X's battery doesn't hold a charge very well anymore, so he decided to use the Anker as a portable battery in order to keep his phone alive during a phone call he made in the back seat of our car while his phone's battery was at ~15% capacity. The Anker had been used for about two hours before by my daughter two days before, and had not been charged again afterwards. Regardless, the Anker successfully powered his phone through the duration of his 30 minute call, and he was able to use his phone to surf the web for the duration of the car ride. In the end, his phone ended up charged to over 30% while in use and plugged in to the Anker. 3) As a bluetooth speaker for listening to music and movie soundtracks (via bluetooth): We have a bare-bones 1080p projector that we set up in the backyard so we can watch movies outdoors while social distancing. While the projector has a built-in 3watt speaker that is convenient and does work, it is barely adequate for inside use: it's monophonic, the sound quality lacks detail, and it doesn't get very loud. These problems are magnified when we are using it outdoors. Since it has an 1/8" 'audio out' jack, I decided to pick up a bluetooth transmitter to see how the PowerConference would work as a speaker for the projector (we picked up a Anker Soundsync A3345 (bluetooth RX/TX) device to perform projector sound transmission duties. The two Anker devices communicated without any issues, and the sound that resulted from the PowerConference was far improved from the built-in projector speaker. While still monophonic, the PowerConference sound provided much deeper basses, clearer mid-tones, and less-shrill highs. It was also much louder than the projector's speaker. Being able to place it closer to the viewers was also a plus, as we could quickly adjust the volume (which didn't need to be as high since the device was nearer the audience). We used both devices for over 3 hours (watching Nick's "Victorious" reruns), and had no problem with rechargeable battery life (both were still going strong when we shut them down). Final Comments: While the list on this device is a bit pricey, the device is quite handsome, and the build quality is very nice - the device feels very solid and very substantial. The bluetooth was very reliable with Windows 10, IOS, and the bluetooth 5 transmitter. Having the ability to charge the phone off of the PowerConference is a neat feature (though the speaker is pretty big to carry around as a spare battery, it's nice to have the option to use it that way). The conference microphones worked much better than built-in internal mics, and at least as well as high-end webcam mics (for single users). The sound put out by the speakers - though not in stereo - was excellent, and made listening to music and movie soundtracks a pleasure. If you are in need of a conference call device, and appreciate practical versatility, it's easy to recommend the Anker PowerConference speaker.

compact, and easy to setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used these types of conference speaker phones in the past, and was surprised at how small and. compact this unit was. It found my cell phone in seconds, and the connection was strong and clear, as far as hearing who was talking to me. However, my voice, wasnt as loud and clear and what I was hearing, unless i put the speaker a couple of feet or closer to where I was sitting. Not a problem for me, but, in larger offices, where people sit far away from where the device is placed, it may not work as well as some of the higher priced competitors All in all, it works well for the price, and worth trying before buying a more expensive "business class pro" model...

Essential for mobile group calls
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Essentially a Bluetooth speaker that is optimized for voice and it is pretty amazing at it. Whether it is Android, iPhone, PC or Macbook via Bluetooth or USB you have crystal clear audio and six directional microphones. There is visual feedback on top that shows which side it is picking up audio and easily distinguish when muted. With steady background sounds it did pretty good with isolation. You can also use it as a battery bank for your mobile devices providing several hours of call time. Definitely useful if you have group calls through phone or computer applications.

Great performance in a small package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this thing. Seriously - there's no other way to put it. The Anker PowerConference brings the same quality sound that you have come to enjoy in the office conference room to your home office or even on the go. The device is about 4 inches square, with rounded corners and a large, intuitive control panel and rounded square status light surrounding the control panel. Two buttons on the front control power and pairing, and three ports on the back include USB-C, USB-A, and an Aux-Out. I have used this device with my iPhone, MacBook Pro, and iMac to communicate via numerous Zoom calls. The device can be connected to your computer either via Bluetooth or via USB-C. When connected via USB-C, the call quality is impeccable. Also, when connected via USB-C the volume controls on the device change the volume controls on my Mac devices. When connected via Bluetooth, the call quality is excellent, but not quite as good as when connected via USB-C. With that being said - both connections provide excellent call quality. I started to compare call quality, and I could tell a difference between the connections, but once I started to focus on the content of the call itself instead of listening for "digitization" or artifacts in the call quality - I really didn't notice anything wrong at all with the Bluetooth call quality. For the most part, I'd probably stick with Bluetooth - unless I happened to have a USB-C cord already out and the device was low on charge. Some cool features of this device are that it can perform double duty in your backpack - it can serve as a power source to charge your cell phone or other USB accessories. Another great feature is that when on a call the status LED lights up indicating the direction from which it detects sound. This is great if there's some kind of background noise being picked up, you can easily identify the direction of the source of that noise. Also included is a very nice travel case for the device. To be real, most of us road warriors are stuck at home - but I selected this device to enhance my Zoom call experience at home. However, some day we'll be back on the road and this device will be the star of the show when it comes to taking calls in hotel rooms, small conference centers, etc... The Anker PowerConference is another home-run from Anker. Anker makes quality devices for a mobile lifestyle and this conference speaker phone is no exception.

Excellent speaker for work!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the pandemic kicked off, I purchased one of these because I was sick of having headphones in my ears for 8 hours. My job requires a lot of meetings with different clients. This speaker has been fantastic! It’s plug in play. Easy to use. Has a mobile app you can use if connecting through your phone. I have used both with my computer and iPhone. I have had no issues in terms of sound quality, hearing people, or having people hear me. I would highly recommend! Excellent pro-sumer-grade Conference Phone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Anker PowerConference Bluetooth Speakerphone is, overall, a great pro-sumer-grade conferencing device, a device I would consider as more than sufficient for any sort of work-from-home (or otherwise remote) system when a speakerphone is needed. Although, with today's mobile devices more than capable of hands-free capabilities, it really does beg the question as to the true practicality of one of these devices. Overall, when paired with a device such as an iPhone, the device works well. You'll have to use the phone to actually make the voice call, but you can use the mute and volume controls on the speakerphone to control those aspects. Also, when connected to an approximately 5-year-old MacBook Pro using the included USB cable, while macOS does recognize the device, the only functionality I noticed was operable was whether or not you could pause any current audio/video source on the Mac; it could not directly mute the machine. Further, if the USB cable is directly attached to the speakerphone, you cannot have calls used on the device. While iOS (for example) will recognize the Bluetooth connection, as soon as the call is connected, the device will revert back to iOS to control the call. If I could have made a call unhindered with the device while still plugged in, I would have given this review five stars instead of four. Regarding USB, it does appear that this device doesn't automatically synchronize with iOS' Bluetooth function. I found that I had to explicitly go under Settings and Bluetooth to make the connection. Of course, as mentioned, once the connection was made, there were no issues. If you do find the need for a separate speakerphone device, I'd highly recommend this device in spite of some of the minor limitations that it presents.

Good product, but has connection issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it works good, it’s great. We’ve ran into where it disconnects from our system and we don’t realize it until we are signing onto team meeting and then don’t have time to reconnect and have to use one of our phones. When it is working, sounds is great Etc. It is just frustrating when. It does not stay connected.
