Beefy power bank with an identity issue

There was a period of time not so long ago that I started an obsession over power banks. They're not unlike office supplies in that sense…I will spend a stupid amount of money on things that I rarely use, but that I think are really cool. But rechargeable batteries aren't all that cool (just like mechanical pencils, as some might argue). It wasn't until about 5 years ago that I started to appreciate all of the battery banks I had amassed. When I began writing reviews as a hobby, I would connect external LED light panels to them to help with lighting when taking pictures. Their portability was awesome, and I used them a lot. And because LEDs take very little energy to power, they lasted a while. Around the same time, a few significant storms caused power outages that lasted for a while, and my battery banks came in handy again. Using those same LED light panels, I was able to make sure lighting was available when needed throughout the house, which made my wife and kids feel much better. The largest bank I owned before the Solix C300X DC Portable Power Station was an Anker 40,000 mAh, and after only a year I've needed it several times over. So naturally, this C300X with over double the capacity and the ability to recharge with a solar panel is a home run, right? Maybe, maybe not. I will admit, it's portable enough that it becomes a no brainer to take on long road trips or camping, as it doesn't add that much bulk and provides some basic niceties if you really want to use a phone or laptop and have no other power sources. It has 4 USB-C ports (2 of which offer simultaneous 140W charging, provided you have power bricks and an extra cord) that offer from 15W all the way to 140W output, 2 12W USB-A ports, and a 12V car charger port. Any of these can be used, in any combination, for charging devices, although using them all simultaneously will impact total output (the C300X has a total output of 300W). It can also be charged via solar panel at a max of 100W; the device uses a standard XT60 port so I don't think you'd *have to* use the Anker-specific panel (but it does fold up very nicely and pack away for easy trasport). It also has a very clear display, providing power information about input and output activity, and built in lantern-style light that pops out of the top, and a companion app. But I'm not 100% clear what the target audience is. According to the website, it can power a cooler for over 5 hours, a projector for over 3, can recharge a camera 18 times, and power an air pump for over 4 hours. It can power LED strips, recharge portal speakers, handheld gaming consoles and phones a bunch of times, power fans, lamps and CPAP machines. And weirdly, if you're tailgating, it can run a coffee grinder for 1.1 hours. (I'm not judging the bougie tailgater who likes freshly ground a brewed coffee, in fact I support you…it just seems kind of niche.) And 'niche' is how I can best classify the C300X. Sure, powering your CPAP machine while camping or inflating a tent or a flat tire in the outdoors is probably a good use case, but all those other things… grinding coffee at a tailgate, going on camping trips wherein you intend to make significant use of your laptop, etc., seems too specific. Again, no judgment…maybe this is how it's supposed to be done and I'm missing out; who else wouldn't want to watch a full length feature film via projector while spending a night in nature? None of that is to say it is without merit, however. As I said before, my obsession with power banks means this device is right at home with me, but specifically, in my home. It's not going to power any major appliances, but the built in lamp can run at it's lowest setting for over 100 hours on a full charge. If we did lose power for a few days, for whatever reason, this thing could definitely keep (at a minimum) my family's phones charged, which is key for emergency situations. So, I kind of like it, but in that nerdy office-supply obsession kind of way. Not because I think I'm going to get a ton of use out of it, but because when I do need to use it, it's capabilities will give me just a little bit of 'peace of mind' at a time when it will be really nice to have. And, the price is right, at least on a kWh capacity-per-dollar basis with the added benefit of a built in light, solar charging capability, while contained in a small enough package that it's not a burden to move around. But for most people, I don't know…I'm not totally convinced. Because of my unstable power grid at home, I've been contemplating generators that can run small appliances, and another $150-$200 might make a difference in a device like that. Generally, I'd advise everyone to invest in some power banks and cheap LED lights just in case, and maybe this is a one-stop shop that does that. But like I said, I'm not convinced this is a good investment for everyone. But if you do invest in it, when you need it, I'm sure you'll be glad you had it.

The Anker SOLIX C300X Solar Generator is a convenient portable power supply for anything that will charge from a USB or USB-C port. This provides a convenient power supply to keep all your electronics powered up in locations without electricity. This will come in very handy in the event of power outages and would be great for camping or anywhere outdoors where power is not readily available. - In the box, you get the portable power station, a 60W solar panel, a solar charging cable, extension cable for the solar panel, and a 60cm 140W USB-C to USB-C charging cable. - The power station is compact and weighs only 13.5 pounds. It has a carrying handle and also comes with a shoulder strap, making it very easy to transport anywhere. - The power station will supply 90,000mAh and 300W of power and is able to charge up multiple devices at the same time. - It also has a pop up light on top with three different brightness settings, providing extra convenience for outdoors. - This power station can be recharged three different ways. You can charge it via either one or two USB-C 140W PD Two-Way Fast Charging Ports, via the included solar panel, or via a car socket. I used the USB-C charger from my laptop in one of the USB-C 140W fast charging ports and I charged the power station from 25% to 100% power, using approximately 63W from my charger in around 2.5 hours. You can actually charge via both USB-C fast charging ports at the same time for faster charging. - There are a total of 7 charging ports for your devices. You can charge your devices from two standard USB-A 12W ports, or four USB-C ports, two of which are the 140W Two-Way Fast charging ports that can also be used for recharging the power station, plus one 100W port and one 15W port, and there is also one car socket. You can charge multiple devices all at the same time, allowing a lot of flexibility and the ability to keep your devices charged for the entire family. - The power station has an LED screen to show you charging times, Watts of power in or out, whether you are connected via Bluetooth or Wifi to the Anker App, so you can see what is going on at any given time and how much power the power station has left. - When connected to the Anker App, you can use the App to see the various power in and out settings, change the brightness of the screen and turn the screen on and off, power on the light and change the brightness, change how fast the LED screen turns off and the device timeout length, as well as update the firmware when needed. You can also pull up the user manual. - It also comes with a 3-year power station Warranty. Overall, this unit will work well for me and will keep me working from home during power outages. It will also allow my family to ensure our critical devices can keep power in the event of a power outage and the included solar panel will allow me to keep it recharged so I can use it on my devices in the event of a prolonged outage. I feel this will also come in handy to power speakers and other devices I may want to use outdoors, where I don't have access to power. The portability and flexible charging options make it very convenient.

The Anker Solix C300X Solar Generator is a great battery back up device that is super portable. I love the smaller for factor, compared to some of the other battery generators out there, and the 4 type-C ports is amazing. With everything being type-C these days it’s nice to have those extra ports. I own a couple of other battery generators and they literally have 1 type C port which isn’t enough. Using the Anker app was a breeze to get everything set up. You get a load of information in the app like total input/output, port status, remaining charge time and more. Solar charging worked as intended. It will take several hours to charge if the generator is completely drained but it is a great option if you are in a pinch. My favorite thing about this battery generator is the size. It’s so easy to just pick up and throw in the truck or take it wherever I need it. I use it quite a bit, and when not in use, I usually set it on my desk and recharge everyday devices with it. Oh, the pop-up light is pretty cool too! There are many battery generator options to choose from, of course. I own two different brands and I have to say the Anker Solix C300X is my favorite so far. If you are looking for a battery generator that is more portable, but very capable, you should definitely consider this one. Highly recommend!

Life saver during a power outtage

During a recent power outage, the Anker SOLIX C300X proved to be an invaluable asset. With its 288Wh capacity and 300W output, this portable power station ensured that our essential devices remained operational throughout the blackout. During the power outage we heavily used the lamp feature which had various brightness settings. The built-in lamp feature was more useful than I expected—it provided just the right amount of light to navigate the room without being harsh on the eyes, making it easier to stay calm and comfortable in the dark. The brighter the lamp, the shorter the battery life, and this is obvious but the C300X’s screen told us specifically how much time was left based on how much power we were using. So the time left dropped when we plugged in two iPhones, a tablet, and a laptop to it all at the same time! I haven’t taken the C300X camping yet, however I did used the included solar panel to charge the C300X and see the utility for when I go to the beach, camping, or in any area where an outlet/power source is limited. Just make sure to clean the panels and angle the panels so that the sun is hitting them directly. The compact design, coupled with the handle, made transportation effortless. Whether moving it between rooms during the outage or taking it outdoors. The Anker SOLIX C300X is a reliable and efficient portable power station, especially during emergencies like power outages. Its ability to charge multiple devices simultaneously, combined with its solar recharging capabilities, makes it a top choice for those seeking uninterrupted power access when the conventional power supply is not available
