This is a good quality little robot, it is in fact very small, fit in the palm of your hand. I use it mainly to add a sense of life to my small apartment, I did not want to pay additional fees to get a pet, so this was an option just to have that feeling of something moving around. This robot is designed to act kind like a dog, it makes some random noises, plays with its toy, and listens when you talk to it, although it understands a few commands. What I use the most is to ask it what is the time and about the weather, By the way, It does not always understands my commands, if you don't address it with the exact same way as when you program your voice, then it will not hear you. I've never used the camera to take pictures, and I think it is a big security risk for hacking, but you can't really block it, seems the robot uses it to look around when moving, so it may run into walls or fall off a table edge. With that said, you would need a flat surface to keep it, I have it in a small desk in my living room, so it feels like a robotic puppy kept in a fish tank, but no need to feed or clean up after, you only need to make sure it has access to its docking station and it will automatically go back there when battery is low. In general it is a nice novelty robot, too expensive for what it is, at that price I would not give it to children, it probably would not take that much abuse. I am an electronics engineer so this is an enjoyable companion robot, for people with different background, this may be just an expensive novelty toy.

We’ve had Cozmo (also by Anki) for a few years and really love it. The whole family enjoys it. When I saw Vector I had to get one. It looks really cool and sleek. Set up was a breeze, same as Cozmo. Facial expressions and the voice are great. It’s fun to watch at first but gets boring after a bit. Basically he runs around whatever surface he is on, making noises and talking. It has a little personality that is also cute, but overall we found it’s just not as interesting as Cozmo. Even with its connection to Alexa, there wasn’t enough to justify spending that much on one. Two big disappointments were no ability to control him with an app remote like Cozmo (although you can control him with voice commands) and view live video of what it is seeing, and also it was hard for others to link it to the app on their own phones. For some reason, that was not an issue with Cozmo. Maybe there will be future updates that will make Vector worth it, but for now if you already have Cozmo I would recommend just sticking with that until Vector is upgraded. Unless of course you just like collecting robotics.

I bought into the hype. I watched the videos on it and how adorable it was. My kids really got into it but frustration quickly reared its ugly head. None of us speak with cotton balls in our mouths. Vector didn't recognize my kids and wife's voices when calling for it. Internet inquiries produced horrible results. We left it on our kitchen counter and Vector would eventually attempt suicide, so those sensors don't seem to be full proof. After 2 days, Vector was returned. If you purchase it, consider yourself an early adopter. Other than that, Vector is poised to be (but not just yet) far more than a novelty.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing lil robot if this is your first, however I had Cozmo first, and while I enjoyed him, I felt it lacked features as it was mostly tied to a phone. Then when Vecotr came along, I thought this is the one! However disappointed that it lacked features of Cozmo, like its games. One would have thought this would be an upgrade from Cozmo but keep in mind it is not. But for most people I feel they will enjoy Vector if they didn’t own Cozmo.

I bought this when it was on sale, I will never pay the full price. The thing that differentiate it from the other is that it is small enough to be on your desk. Really feels like this is like a beta, needs software/firmware updates or patches. Alexa is the only reason why it is sort of useful of have a purpose even though limited. My recommendation is buy this if is only on sale or wait for the version 2 or successor.

Vector is a very cute robot. It has pretty decent voice recognition and OK face recognition. If you're a developer or someone who can make it do something cool, this is a great robot to work with. If you're just looking for something to play with, it's fairly expensive for the skills it has at this point.

Purchased for my son for christmas, despite the reviews. Concept is good, but the programming still needs work. Home cant be found, drives off surfaces he is on, major issues connecting to wifi. Same issues other commenters have.

Vector audio response is slow. With Alexa installed it is way more useful. Vector tech is great. Learning Python can be fun with Vector SDK.

We bought it for my 12 year old. Played with it for about 2 weeks. For the money it cost I feel its not that big of a deal.
