My original Anova is probably 3 years old, 1,000 watts and easily has a thousand hours of run time. That unit is just a war horse. The nano is the new sleek kid that lacks some punch in terms of the ability to heat smaller quantities of water in a respectable amount of time. The WiFi/app combination is good, but certainly not great as the connection is lost repeatedly. One design challenge is the fact that the clamp can't be adjusted and you have a narrow window of how much water can be in the vessel. The Nano will sit in the middle of the vessel you don't have as much room for varying water levels This unit would be good for smaller water vessels and smaller items to be SV'd. That lack of wattage really makes a difference. My advice is go big on wattage, as that's what drives the water temp.

Fast, easy setup including phone connection. I've made steaks, lamb, chicken, all cooked to perfect temperature and with excellent tenderness. I'd recommend this to anyone, and its much easier than smoking or grilling.

I was introduced to this cooking apperatus but a few friends that are complete grill hounds..once I learned to immersion cook all my meat first then kiss it on the grill, it can make anyone a master chef!!

If you ever thought of cooking the perfect steak without having to stress over cooking times and temperature probes, this is the solution for you. I like my steaks medium rare and this unit cooks them to perfection every time. It takes some time (about 45 min to an hour), but the results are amazing. The unit is a bluetooth version, so you have to have a phone/tablet connected to it and the app installed to take advantage of notifications, recipes, etc. but it's not required. Once I set it up in my stockpot, I set it for the temperature I want, drop in the food when it's ready, and set a timer. A quick sear to give the texture I want and the steak is done! I've also used it to make excellent pork chops and tender, juicy chicken breasts. It also makes a great gift.

After reading about Sous Vide cooking, I was instantly curious. After a quick search, I found that this model was available at my local Best Buy for same day pickup. I went ahead and purchased the item and used it that same day. The app is relatively simple to set up and the cooker is mostly carefree! You pick your temperature, set a time and place your sealed food in your container. After some research, I did find that one of the best containers to use with this device is an igloo cooler. Keeping the heat in is very important. Overall, I really like this product and I use it every few days.

She has wanted on for years...and this the wife got one....Steak is amazing (still needs a sear in the pan before serving) but never under cooks or overcooks. Quality design and simplicity.

This is my first sous vide machine - it works VERY well, simple to use, holds cooking water temp within 1 degree. I'm quite satisfied. So far I've done a few steaks and chops and they came out perfectly cooked edge to edge.

My third anova cooker this one I got my parents. Love how great and easy they work. Have not cooked a steak without using it ever since I owned one. Come out perfect every time.

Steak done perfect every time! Sous vide and sear! We even did a leg of lamb and the results were fabulous. It's easy to use and almost no limit to what you can create.

The Anova works OK but is not as reliable or easy as the Wiiclo it replaced. The cooker sometimes randomly shuts off and leads to having to monitor it more closely. It cooks the food very evenly, heats up quickly, and maintains temperature well when it doesn't turn off. When running the units gives a high pitch whine, which doesn't impact function, but people in my household find irritating. My biggest complaint is cleaning. Inevitably, a bag will leak or scale may build up. The instructions say to run the unit in vinegar, but that is pretty ineffective. Other units allow part of the housing to be removed to clean the unit and remove scale. For the price, I thought it would perform better than cheaper ones I had purchased.

We use this tool almost every week to meal prep for the following week. It's so simple and easy to use and the food turns out just like we had been to a five star restuarant.

The only way to cook a steak for me since I have it. Highly recommend for people who overcook their meat.

Great product. Very easy to operate. No fussing just leave it alone and it “cooks” at a consistent temperature. Worth the investment.

My brother has been doing sous vide cooking for years and I can't believe I waited so long to join him! You cannot get more perfect results. This little guy, like his more expensive cousins, get the job done. Temperatures are consistent and it heats up in only about 15 minutes. The app works great over bluetooth with my iPhone and my iPad. And let me tell you, after an hour in the water and a sear on both sides to finish, I'd never had a more delicious filet mignon in my entire life!

The job of the unit itself is great. My lack of 5 stars is due to, 1. The app… it’s got potential, but it has some serious issues, especially with notifications, which are kind of important for any cooking you walk away from. 2. I wish the clamp was adjustable up and down and a little more durable. This thing hangs at the top and I feel like it wastes a bit of water now being able to lower down. Im sure what container you use makes a difference. Overall, I am very happy with it. *just fix the app.
