I've only had this thing for one day, so I can't say anything about reliability, but the performance is spectacular. I had a cheap antenna before and replaced it with this one because the cheap one brought in too few channels with unsatisfactory clarity. This one brings in about 50 channels, all with clarity of audio and video ranging from acceptable to great. The assembly directions are non-great, but there is a URL included which claims to be a video of the assembly process. I didn't look at it because I didn't notice the URL until I had the job done. There are no installation instructions except for the most cursory. That would have been worth subtracting a star if I hadn't already known how to do it. Here are the steps the instructions should have explained: 1. Download the antennapoint finder app and install it on your smartphone. That app finds the direction of transmitting towers near you. See www.antennapoint.com . 2. Use the antenna finder app to find the nearby transmitting towers. The app explains how - it's easy and effective. 3. After determining the direction of the TV tower you want to aim the antenna at, mount the antenna in a place where it can be pointed in that direction or where it can be turned toward as many directions as there are transmitting towers within the nearby range. 4. Connect the antenna to the tv, turn on the tv, set the tv input to "Antenna" rather than Cable or HTMI. 5. Scan for channels. On my tv that means Settings, Antenna, Autoscan, Done. The scan takes 10 or 15 minutes. Your tv might have a different method. You need to scan for channels every time you move the antenna. 6. Surf the channels until you have an idea about the number of channels you get, whether the selection is satisfactory, and the quality. If you are not happy with the number, selection or quality, use the phone app to find a different transmitting tower, redirect the antenna to that tower, and repeat the channel scan. The manufacturer should have provided those instructions.

    Mixed feelings

This antennae feels very solid and is heavier than i thought. I did return mine because i have put ota on hold until summer when i can put up a tower. This antennae did pick up all of my available channels in my area just from using indoors. Some will drop out though. I think this is a good antennae for mounting in the attic or on the roof/tower etc. The cost is a bit expensive compared with some cheaper models, but this one is very solid. Also it's bulky so i don't think it would be good for indoors looks wise. Everyone has a different antennae requirement for their area and placement. I have a small circular antennae placed in a basement window just below ground level with a metal window well around it that will pickup channel 15 and hold it. The exact antennae in a first floor window on the same side of the house will not hold the signal. I tell you this to point out how placement is critical in picking up signals. Sorry for rambling. Bottom line it's, pricey, bulky, and very sturdy built and best suited for attic or outdoors.

This OTA antenna brings in over 80 stations, although we only watch 5 of them. The clarity of the picture is great as well the PVR we use is a Tivo and is simple to hook up. I was disappointed in Geek Squad who refused to install this antenna on an outside wall and instead wanted to install it in our attic with almost 4 feet of insulation and would have required a cable run of 120 ft with an amplifier and power, whereas an ordinary handyman installed it above the TV where it was required, with only 15 ft of cable, some of which was redundant.

The antenna worked better than expected. I live about 42 miles from the broadcast towers, mounted it in my attic and I’m surrounded by woods, my signal strength is 75% on most channels and the picture is great.

Got tired of paying ridiculously high monthly cable fees and installed a ClearStream antenna in my attic. Installation was very easy and was able to use existing coax cables to my four TVs. Within an hour I was able to watch dozens of local and network stations in crystal clear high definition. I am located approximately 50 miles from the tv transmitters. There have been no service interruptions due to storms etc. This antenna is everything it’s advertised to be and I am saving lot’s of money ever single month! Free tv is a good thing!

I live in a rural area about 6o miles south of Cleveland, Ohio; which is the major source of the television transmissions in our area and I must say, I was surprised and very pleased that we are able to receive the number of stations we do. We are receiving 32 stations which includes all of the major networks and a fairly good variety of others stations that interest us. And they all come in very clear with excellent high definition. We were told when we bought this antenna that position was very critical to getting good reception and I can confirm the truth in that statement. Positioning the antenna is very precise and a small movement can change the reception a great deal. It is also very important to position the antenna so that it facing in the direction in which the program is being broadcast from. But once you find the right position just scan your tv and you should be good to go. This is an indoor or outdoor antenna and I had planed to use it outdoors but when I hooked it up to the tv and saw how many channels we were receiving, we decided to leave it where it was, which is right next to the tv. I can't say from experience but I believe we could probably get still more stations if we put it on the roof. But since we are pleased with what we have we will leave it where it is , at least for now. I know that getting good reception with one of these antennas can be difficult and it depends on a number of variables in the area in which you live but I can say in all honesty that it does work very well in my area. One other thing that should make a difference to anyone considering buying this antenna is, that when I purchased mine I was given a two week trial period to try it out, with a full money back guarantee if it did not work out as expected. You can't really ask for anything more.

Our tv started spinning and saying weak signal. Sometimes the station would come and go so much we would miss whats happening. We had sn indoor antenia but it wasn’t enough. This product when hooked into a Directv cable left over from the past, it brought in tv stations we didnt know we could get anymore. Now we can watch all channels with zero problems. The signal is strong. Wirth every penny and took about 10 minutes to connect to outside roof antenna.

    Clearstream 4MAX - free ATSC 1.0 & 3.0 4K signals.

Purchased this Clearstream 4maX antenna which is connected to a HDHomeRun device that in turn to split to 2 key parts of my home which are directly connected to the antenna port of my TVs. I also have this setup supporting my PLEX app which is sync with my Synology NAS to save my DVR recordings. I am located less than 50 miles from the concentration of broadcast TV stations which makes pulling in those digital signals problem free. I am also able to pull in free ATSC 3.0 4K signals from broadcast stations pixelization free, although, I can't confirm this maybe is due to the fact I have a pre-amplifier at the front end to boost the incoming over the air signals. If the FCC does not stop broadcast stations in many parts of the country implementing DRM encryption, I may just need to go back to acquiring ATSC 1.0 signals. I submitted a petition to the FCC to stop this effort by the major broadcast channels. Overall, I am pleased with this antenna and recommend it to anyone looking to get free local stations within 80 miles of their home.

Great way to pull in local channels for free

I have been getting discouraged over the ever increasing cost of watching TV via the major satellite and cable companies I have used. I had heard of the possibility of being able to pull in local stations via one of the new age antennas, for free. So I did some research and bought a Clearstream 4MAX Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna that boasts it is able to pull TV stations up to 70 miles away. I installed it outside on an eight foot pole. Once I purchased an additional 75 foot cable (it did not come with any cable) and connected the TV to the antenna, I was amazed when I was able to pull in 44 stations. The closest major city from my house is 60 miles away. I am now thinking seriously of dropping cable altogether.

Provides great reception from the roof. It is not that high but works well. Probably would be even better if we had put it up another 6-8 feet. Where it is protects it from strong west winds. We get several stations very clearly and most of them offer several channels. It is much better than previous indoor antenna.

I bought this to check if I could cut the cable or not. I can now cut the cable! I have some work to do, but this antenna works GREAT. I have to point out that your location is critical. I have 36 channels with HD and DTV, without moving the setting 1 degree! Keep in mid that I have 65 Stations within 70 miles. I have no trouble getting over 30+ miles away. Well worth the effort and cost. Enjoy the view. My antenna is in my attic on the third floor.

If your cutting cord and want local channels this is the antenna to get. I tried many and none were very good until I got this one. I picked up 50 channels and all come in crystal. Easy install. Highly recommend. I live real with a lot of trees and this thing works great!

Is a good replacement antenna from the one I had. I'm in a campgrounds about sixty miles from closest major city. I mounted it about twenty feet above ground (really easy to install). Getting about a dozen channels. I did buy the best cable to cut down on noise. Still get some interfence from some golf carts driving by.

I was a little worried because i had just bought a Yagi antenna, and it wouldn't pick up every station without adjusting the antenna when switching back and forth. someone mentioned getting an multi directional antenna, so i did. I picked this one up yesterday. i live about 50-60 miles out, and pick up all the major channels that i was hoping for (ABC,CBS,CW,NBC,Fox) with their secondary channels as well. There are still a couple of channels that i don't get, but don't really care about them. Also, i haven't spent much time calibrating the antenna. I'm sure if i calibrated it, it would work even better. Also, I did not need an amplifier to pick up the channels. the major networks are averaging between 50 and 60 % signal as well. Great Antenna; very pleased so far.

Greetings from Antennas Direct! The signal strength will vary and your specific location of where you install the antenna, attic or outdoors. Try placing the antenna up higher as trees and building can block TV signals. Here are a few other tips to try: Face the antenna towards the largest cluster of towers in your area. You can download our FREE app Antenna Point from iTunes or Goggle Play or visit our website using the following link to see the towers in your area https://www.antennasdirect.com/transmitter-locator.html. You may need to may need to move the antenna to several locations to find the best reception. Remember to rescan for channels at every location you place the antenna before permanently attaching the antenna to any surface. If you need assistance, call us toll-free at 1-877-825-5572 or send us a message at https://www.antennasdirect.com/customer-service.html. The call and support are free. I cut cable and went all streaming about two months ago, but started missing the local live network stations for local news and sports. I looked into Hulu with Live TV, but that costs almost as much as Cable once you add all the add-ons for local. I got this antenna, and it works great. I mounted it inside my attic of a 2 story house, antenna is about 20 feet in elevation. Roof construction is 2x4 trusses, plywood, tar paper, and concrete tile. Light tree cover that reaches about that high. I have a regular 2-way splitter (non-amplified). With one TV with a 30 foot RG6 coax run, the other TV with a 60 foot RG6 coax run. I have one cluster of stations 25 miles away, both TVs pick up those stations with full bars (4 out of 4), and HD picture and sound are fantastic. I have another cluster of stations 65 miles away, and they get 1-2 bars out of 4. But even those stations 65 miles away look perfect. This antenna is advertised at 70+ miles, I can get stations at 65 miles perfectly, so the advertised rating is correct. High quality construction, should last for years (maybe decades). This product seems to be the best model Best Buy sells. It's easy to see why Antennas Direct products are the Cord Cutter's choice.
