I have 4 towers that I can connect to: One is 25 miles away and the other three are 47-57 miles away. I have NO view of the horizon. I have a tree line that starts about 50 ft from the house. I have a tree branch right in front of the antenna. The antenna sits about 25ft attached to tge roof and the degree angle between the 4 towers is 3°. I can fet a totla if 18 channels. FOX, NBC, CBS and PBS towers come in. But no ABC which is 59 miles away. The stations all come in clear, storms causes pixelation and channel drops but thats expected. I use quad shielded coax that I bought at Lowe's: 50ft and 15' connected with a coupler that was also purchased at Lowe's. The reason I purchased this was because Spectrum jumped my cable bill to $108.00 for basic tv and advanced basic tv. this includes 24.97 for the 3 boxes I needed to descramble the channels and 13.50 for local broadcasting fee. We literally watch the weather, family fued, wheel of fortune and jeopardy (lol). Ob top of that we have top tier internet which is currently 89.99/month. My bill came in at $198.96. Two months ago it was $127.00 then we tried auto bill which then went to 160s then the last bill. They offered to lower the bill significantly but we were done. This antenna, plus the set up will be paid off on 2 months from the momey saved by switching. Installation has a lot and yet it doesnt have everything: You will need (ok aybe not need, but I used...) a socket wrench, a cordless drill, a drill adapter to attach sockets to, a drill bit slightly thinner than the roof mounting screws, a compass (apps are nice but not reliable and walmart sells a decent enough one for $4), philips screwdriver, 2 sockets to help put in wooden mounting bolts. The antenna comes with the adjustable roof mounting plate and bolts and a pole to attach the antenna and mountain plate. It took me about an hour to install but I spent time looking it iver and had stuff slide off the roof. If you can bring a friend, do so. We have no regretdls. Oh and also get large staples sobthat you can attach the cable to tge house so its not dangling. And lastly, this antenna is not grounded nor has a power boost. Antennaweb.com says I can get 16 channels, I have 18. Decent antenna, not the greatest but Mrs. didnt want a large goddy antenna on the roof, something discrete. This fit the bill.

Best antenna that last for years

I bought this antenna about ten years ago and it is still working like the day I bought it. I did add a Signal booster because I live about 54 miles away from the closest signal. I get all of the local channels in high definition most in 1080 i. I use Tivo that also works great. Get 64 channels and even more that I don’t watch because of language. I get ion tv actually two different ion channels which have great shows like NCIS LA and Chicago P.D. FREE YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! I have three TVs split off it that also works perfectly! No upkeep no worries just WORKS! If you want to cut the cord and have great entertainment FREE then this is the way to go and this is the best antenna by far!

At least as good as traditional roof top TV antennas. Smaller profile means wind won't move it. More consistency in holding reception but not perfect.

I cut the cable cord two years ago and bought this on 1/13/18 to try to bring in the networks so I could watch the NFL games. I worked for about half the day trying different locations for the antenna and auto programming every time I moved or turned it. Even the slightest shift can matter. At first I could only pull in 1 network (ABC). Eventually that went to 2 and finally all 4 including all the Greenville area stations. Mission accomplished. This is mounted in the finished room over my garage. I have it propped up on the back of a chair, near a window, but not pointed out. Reception is amazing!

Replace cable tv for FREE TV

I had three Free TV antennas and replaced them for the ClearStream antenna. Connected it to the location where a dish was located, not in use. My son removed the dish, connected the antenna to the metal arm used for the org dish. Connected cable, there were three, found one that worked. Could only get 11 channels. I called the help number, which was on a Sunday, and the person was great. He walked through how to direct the antenna to the right direction, location to receive the signals. Then explaned I needed to by pass the two small boxes on the outside of the house and conncect the cable directly into the one cable that was going inside the house. These are coaxial cables. The house was pre-wired for the dish. I now have all rooms running of the ClearStream antenna and get over 66 channels. With my Amazon Prime who needs dish!!! Oh I changed from Direct TV to Free TV three years ago and saved over 250.00 a month for the service. Thank you.

I've had many rooftop antennas over 40 years. They all were much more directional and ugly than this Clearstream 4 MAX. I purchased the antenna only. The aluminum elements of the traditional antennas eventually corrode and slowly go bad. I tried a large Televes Ellipse Mix antenna. It worked great but made my house look like a science experiment. With the 4 Max I am getting all area channels, including the ones off the back of this antenna. It gives a higher and more stable signal to more channels. I have to point it SSE through and under 2 big trees. I lose 2 or 3 channels in rain during summer but not 3,8,13,17. Wet leaves. Better in the winter. Pure Michigan! Southern GR area. I painted an RCA tripod and short mast black. The supplied mounting pole seemed a bit weak for outdoor windy conditions. This unit can catch a fair amount of wind. I did end up adding a Channelmaster medium gain preamplifier because of my 75 ft RG6 coax run. This amp is up at the antenna, which is recommended by The Antenna man on YT. The Clearstream amplified version seemed expensive for what you get over the plain antenna. Their included amp is not at the top.

This antenna was really easy to set up and worked great! I had my doubts about signal quality in our area. I thought the transmitters would be over the hill in the main city. But once I looked them up, I found the ones I wanted were to the south. It pays to look them up! I first set the antenna up inside the house, hoping to find the best antenna angle where I could see the TV. I was amazed that I got a clear picture on the channels I was interested in. But if someone walked in front of the antenna (blocking the signal), the picture would stop. That's to be expected. Of course, I always intended to put this in the attic above the second story. There, it worked like a champ, picking up 50+ channels easily. I like the fact that I didn't have to put it on top of the roof, like the old days. I usually get my son involved with projects like this, so he sees how to do home maintenance. This was his first time in the crawlspace above the house, which made it really fun!

Best antenna ever. Bought two others and got a signal but it would pixilate constantly even with amplifier. No issues with this one. Great constant picture with no hiccups. I also got the rocket fish amplifier and i stalled close to antenna. Again 50+ channels free.

Clearer picture than cable. Once in awhile get static or streaking and added a Channel Master signal amplifier and that improved everything alot. The installation was pretty straight forward and mounted the unit on about a 18' pole and attached it to the side of the house with good qualty cable wire. Get stations from about 45 miles away. We have a newer smart tv and that gets well over 125 channels while the older smart tv's get around 25-30 channels including local news. I was worried when we bought it as we have alot of tall trees around our house but that hasn't been a problem. It works quite well with occasional static but nothing is perfect. We are very satisfied and recommend it.

Simple to assemble. Mounted on fascia of roof of one story house outside of Charlottesville,VA. TV transmitter is 35 miles away. It replaced a very large 20 year old metal antenna that worked just fine & picked up 31 channels. I replaced the 20 inch mount (pole) with a longer 4 ft light weight galvanized pipe from Lowes to clear the roofline. I had low expectations that this plastic fairly small antenna would do anything. I was shocked to find that it also picked up all 31 channels and with a clearer picture and not dropping any. I then replaced the old Radio Shack amplifier with a Channel Master CH7777HD at "High" setting. It picked up an additional 4 stations. I now have more channels, clearer picture, and a clean looking roof without the old antenna. Remember to run the Channel search on your TV after mounting to add all channels captured.

I live within 30 miles of most of the broadcast towers. I was having trouble receiving over the air broadcasts from NBC, ABC, CBS on an older antenna. The installation was in the attic of a 1 story house. I also added a broadband RF amplifier as I have several cable splits feeding multiple TVs in the house. I am receiving 64 channels over the air now. Some of the channels are standard definition and or are duplicates channels of HD broadcasts. The HD broadcasts are just as clear as if I had satellite or cable. Even though the antenna is not supposed to be directional, I did have to rotate the antenna in order to receive the KSCW channel as it has moved from the Epic Center to the tower by Hutchinson, KS. Overall the antenna was easy to put together and install.

We were trying to view a station that was 60 miles from our house. We found that our powered antenna was rated for 50 miles. The 4 max is rated for 70 miles. So we bought one. Our TV is older and lives in a console not mounted on the wall. I screwed the antenna to a piece of wood so it was free standing and set it on top of console placing it near the roof (higher is better). Then we hooked the antenna cable to the back of the TV, turned the TV on and selected new stations. Several new stations including the one we wanted. (of course it could be mounted to the wall or just set up there without a base the instructions say you could mount it on a wall or pole outside and run the cable through your wall) Took about a half our to set up and works great. We are very happy with it.

We used the existing wiring and roof mount from our old satellite dish and get about 40 channels, many of which have a noticeably better picture than we did with the dish. We simply unscrewed the dish from its stand and put the antenna on in its place. Very easy installation.

Excellent antenna for especially inside your home, it picks up so many channels. We purchased this for our living room after the last bad snow storm so being prepared is the smart thing to do for the next bad weather time. All seasons can produce times of bad weather and you can lose your dish or cable TV. We wanted to have access to local weather channels during those times. It was so easy to connect this antenna and our 82" Samsung TV. Basically we just connected it and the TV did the rest, almost instant connection. The picture is clear with more channels than just local because it will scan for signals pretty far away from your home. I think our signal goes close to 100 miles away from the house. Very Happy with this purchase.

I just installed the the antenna yesterday. Relatively simple to assemble; however most of the components are cheaply made and confirmed it as I could not get a fastener in one of the inserts. The threads had to be chased to correct the problem. I have the tools to correct the issue, most folks don't. That is why I gave it 4 stars. You would think that for the money, the quality would be a little better. If you don't mind the quality, but want a very good picture, this is for you. As mentioned, performance is excellent. I was able to get 167 channels in my area; however a lot of those channels are repeated within the bandwidth.

I've only had this thing for one day, so I can't say anything about reliability, but the performance is spectacular. I had a cheap antenna before and replaced it with this one because the cheap one brought in too few channels with unsatisfactory clarity. This one brings in about 50 channels, all with clarity of audio and video ranging from acceptable to great. The assembly directions are non-great, but there is a URL included which claims to be a video of the assembly process. I didn't look at it because I didn't notice the URL until I had the job done. There are no installation instructions except for the most cursory. That would have been worth subtracting a star if I hadn't already known how to do it. Here are the steps the instructions should have explained: 1. Download the antennapoint finder app and install it on your smartphone. That app finds the direction of transmitting towers near you. See www.antennapoint.com . 2. Use the antenna finder app to find the nearby transmitting towers. The app explains how - it's easy and effective. 3. After determining the direction of the TV tower you want to aim the antenna at, mount the antenna in a place where it can be pointed in that direction or where it can be turned toward as many directions as there are transmitting towers within the nearby range. 4. Connect the antenna to the tv, turn on the tv, set the tv input to "Antenna" rather than Cable or HTMI. 5. Scan for channels. On my tv that means Settings, Antenna, Autoscan, Done. The scan takes 10 or 15 minutes. Your tv might have a different method. You need to scan for channels every time you move the antenna. 6. Surf the channels until you have an idea about the number of channels you get, whether the selection is satisfactory, and the quality. If you are not happy with the number, selection or quality, use the phone app to find a different transmitting tower, redirect the antenna to that tower, and repeat the channel scan. The manufacturer should have provided those instructions.

    Mixed feelings

This antennae feels very solid and is heavier than i thought. I did return mine because i have put ota on hold until summer when i can put up a tower. This antennae did pick up all of my available channels in my area just from using indoors. Some will drop out though. I think this is a good antennae for mounting in the attic or on the roof/tower etc. The cost is a bit expensive compared with some cheaper models, but this one is very solid. Also it's bulky so i don't think it would be good for indoors looks wise. Everyone has a different antennae requirement for their area and placement. I have a small circular antennae placed in a basement window just below ground level with a metal window well around it that will pickup channel 15 and hold it. The exact antennae in a first floor window on the same side of the house will not hold the signal. I tell you this to point out how placement is critical in picking up signals. Sorry for rambling. Bottom line it's, pricey, bulky, and very sturdy built and best suited for attic or outdoors.

This OTA antenna brings in over 80 stations, although we only watch 5 of them. The clarity of the picture is great as well the PVR we use is a Tivo and is simple to hook up. I was disappointed in Geek Squad who refused to install this antenna on an outside wall and instead wanted to install it in our attic with almost 4 feet of insulation and would have required a cable run of 120 ft with an amplifier and power, whereas an ordinary handyman installed it above the TV where it was required, with only 15 ft of cable, some of which was redundant.

Got tired of paying ridiculously high monthly cable fees and installed a ClearStream antenna in my attic. Installation was very easy and was able to use existing coax cables to my four TVs. Within an hour I was able to watch dozens of local and network stations in crystal clear high definition. I am located approximately 50 miles from the tv transmitters. There have been no service interruptions due to storms etc. This antenna is everything it’s advertised to be and I am saving lot’s of money ever single month! Free tv is a good thing!
