    Great Antenna for Cord-Cutters

After trying several indoor antennas with unsatisfactory results, I did some research and found very good ratings for this antenna. Best Buy had it on sale at the time, so I picked one up. It took a little while to assemble it, but instructions are pretty straightforward. I have it mounted on the highest peak of my roof and I'm getting great reception from our local stations, whose transmitters are over 30 miles away. We've had some real strong winds during a couple of storms lately and the antenna has come through just fine. Be sure to properly ground the antenna if you install it on the roof (it can also be installed in the attic, but the roof will provide the best reception).

Rural living in a heavily wooded area 6-21 miles from the transmission towers this antenna mounted in the attic works. After trying three indoor antennas, one with an amplifier this antenna has proven to be a great improvement . I have a four tuner DVR and an external hard drive to record over the air television shows. Since purchasing the recordings are rarely flawed and only one recording was dropped nine minutes into the recording. Since "Cutting the Cord" with our cable provider I am saving $118 per month

We needed an alternative to cable for the two weeks we are home in the winter since we are seasonal residents. I was skeptical that this would work since we are on the fringe of two major TV markets. Amazingly we receive 12 channels and simply placed the antenna inside near a window. The reception is crystal clear. This paid for itself in the first two months.

This antenna is not made to be out on the weather or wind. I guess it would be ok if you have a attic to put it in. I couldn't pick up any channels with it either. Took it back.

When we decided to cut the cable cord, I bought one of the amplified flat antennas. That was not a good idea. I finally bought the roof antenna and now I am really happy with the decision to cut cable. It gives me about 36 channels. I am sure I could get more if I lived closer to Milwaukee. I have only had a few times of tiling and that was on me tv. The major channels have had no trouble. I added the antenna to a TiVo system and life is good. I would buy any roof antenna soon if you do not want to slide off the roof from the frost, ice or snow.

Bought this when it was on sale for $89. Went with a high price antenna since I live right at 55 miles from the big network towers. Got it out of the box and it felt pretty flimsy and junky. Wasn't expecting much from it but hooked everything up from my upstairs attic and it came in with perfect HD. Picked up right around 81 channels. I was only worried about 2 5 11 46 and 69 so everything else was just a bonus. I would recommend it for inside use because I do not see this lasting in the weather.

The first antenna I bought did not get any stations at all. This antenna I got many UHF stations from towers over 30 miles away and the towers are not at the same location but near each other. I did buy a preamp to go with this antenna which also helped. VHF did not work for me I am to far away from the VHF transmitter. I even tried the more powerful db8e bow tie antenna which did not work as well as this one. I got more channels and a clearer signial with no break up on this model. Well worth the investment.

I did some research online before purchasing this antenna and am happy with my decision. My local cable company refuses to issue a plan that includes local channels only, so I had to resort to using an antenna. I wanted to avoid mounting the unit on my roof or a pole outside, so I positioned the unit in the "attic" area of my garage. With the unit ~20ft off the ground, I am able to pickup about 22 channels. For comparison, I had a 40+ mile range indoor antenna which only received about 9 channels (stations range from 20-35 miles away). I added a small signal booster, since I split the signal 3 ways and stations come in very clear.

It Works Most of the Time

5 stars are because I can get standard channels most of the time. The fact that I'm over 60 miles from a tower is the reason the channel strength isn't always reliable, not the antenna's fault. The antenna actually works better than an older antenna I was using. Make sure to look online for the location of your nearest TV towers and make sure you point the antenna in that direction. It makes a big difference I connected a signal amplifier to it yesterday and that seems to have made a big difference. Oh, the antenna has to be put together - sort of a pain and a nuisance, but I enjoy that kind of stuff, so it still gets 5 stars.

Antenna Direct Antenna Does Great Job--As Expected

I own two Antenna Direct Antennas. I purchased the ClearStream 4v as a Christmas gift for my brother who lives in the country about 40 miles from the nearest broadcaster. He used an old-fashioned boom 2-83 boom antenna. He had good reception, but suffered dropouts on some of his favorite stations whose transmitters were about 60 miles away. I expected great reception, but my brother was skeptical. He refused to remove his old antenna from the mast until the new antenna proved itself. The ClearStream 4v changed his mind. He does not receive any new channels, but he does receive all of his old channels--only without dropouts.

Great product, less problems than Clearstream 2V

We had the Clearstream 2V for close to 2 years. At first that did a great job but after a while we started getting our normal stations pixelated constantly. Every fitting was tight, we would adjust the angle very slightly, and all would be ok for a little while, than not ok. Frustrated, we took a chance and purchased this one. It did pick up more channels, although most were in Spanish, but so far, no problems with capture or pixelating. My only complaint was the instructions to put together. Took me a long time, but finally done and up. I think the double 8 , 2 antennas, works better at capturing the signal.

Assembly took 15-30 minutes simply because of my fat fingers and tightening the screws - but was simple. Installation in our attire was very simple and reception was fantastic right out of the box. We did not even have to adjust the direction - just pointed East (we are West of Orlando) and we easily began to receive 30+ stations. I was only looking for the few major ones and once we identified them I programmed them as favorites on all of the TV's (5 TV's total). Highly recommend

Got great reception inside but after mounting on the side of the house the reception was amazing. Was able to get all of the local channels available.

It states that it is for indoor AND outdoor use. So I gave it a 4 star because it pulls in the same local stations, on the one TV it is hooked to, as good as a different brand that I am currently using inside the house on one other TV. My plans are to move it outside when winter is over and we can get on our roof. Then we plan to connect it to an already cable ready system to have more than one TV wired to this antenna. If this works then it will truly deserve 5 stars.

After trying three progressively more expensive antennas, with spotty results, I finally went all in and bought this one. I was not disappointed. Once you spend a little time aiming it, it pulls in stations from 40 miles, with it mounted inside. If it was mounted outside I could easily see it pulling in stations from 60 miles out. As long as you're not intimidated by the Erector set assembly required, and have a place to mount this monster, it's the perfect solution for cord cutters.

Getting stations over 100mi away - Best Free TV!

I have this mounted inside the house upstairs about 25' from the ground. Pointed in the right direction I get stations over 100mi from where I live and in HD (720p). I also get around 50 channels (depending on the weather) for free! Bad thing is some of them are duplicate local stations in other cities (NBC, CBS, ABC, ETV). I do get Comet though and Antenna TV. One weird thing about this though is that I get these stations 100mi out but can't get some of the stations in the city 50mi from me. Must be the terrain or something messing that up.

Bought this on a deal of the day to save a few bucks on the cable bill. I'm only 23 miles east of Mt Wilson, but may have some foothills in between. I leaned it against the chimney and got 154 channels, although a bunch of them are foreign language and some duplicate. It's a keeper, so I mounted it a few feet away from the chimney. I returned two of the four cable boxes to save $22 a month for now. We mostly watch the local major networks, but still have an addiction for a couple cable channels, so will keep it until it becomes cost effective to stream them.
