Got this epic monitor on sale for $499. I have tried a more expensive LG variant and I wasn't happy with the image quality. I've got this one running at 4k 60hz on Mac Pro (via DisplayPort). Worked perfectly right out of the box. Colors pop, no flicker, and I love the semi gloss finish. Looks very nice along side my thunderbolt display. I haven't tested it for gaming, but I am mainly using my computer for audio recording. Couldn't be happier!

Looks very good. No complaints of how it looks and how it sounds but I got one thing to say:
Has Nao REMOTE which sucks because if you aren’t patient with technology trying to find that tiny button in the back and play with the settings it’s frustrating.
Also I believe it’s a little pricy for a 40” monitor display.

Man, I love this monitor. It is way bigger than I expected. I have not had any problems with it yet. This monitor offers great colors in 4k. I wanted bigger than my 32 inch 1080P and this came through. It has many ports for any kind of hookup you may have on your computer. It is recommended that you have a graphics card that can push all the pixels I have a 3 monitor setup and I do not have any problems. I cought it on sale and it was one of the best investments I have made.

I compared a few 40 inch monitors and fell in love with this unit. In the $500-$600 range you get amazing screen size and dot pitch, it pairs perfectly with 22 inch monitors on the sides.
This was my absolute favorite gift to myself.
I recommend this to anyone who has 3 monitors but wants higher resolution.
Don’t forget to buy a better video card, this beast needs some juice to run.

Nice for software development, at least

It's great for my work computer. I develop software and need a lot of windows open. This monitor is great for that. Most importantly, the "4K" pixels span a screen large enough so that you don't need to scale up the fonts via your operating system. (That is a waste of pixels! If you buy a monitor smaller than 40", don't waste your money on 4k because everything will look too tiny.) This 40" display makes text look a bit smaller than my old 24" HD display, but it's OK. I wouldn't go any smaller with 4K resolution.
I do see the red blurring some people mentioned, when moving a window quickly, but strangely I haven't noticed the effect when watching a video, so it hasn't been a problem at all. (Note that the red blur is a side-effect of the LCD tech used in this panel. It comes with both pros and cons. It's not simply a question of good or bad. It depends on your priorities.)
Other reviews complained about the height--about 4" above the desk--but I think it's fine. When I sit in my chair, my eyes are slightly above the center of the screen, so I think it's fine. If anything, I notice a slight darkening on the left or right if my head isn't perfectly centered, but it's pretty mild.
The PIP is cool, but the computer filling the main part of the screen doesn't know a corner is being stolen, so windows and cursors can disappear behind the PIP display. The side-by-side view is probably more useful if you need to hook multiple computers up. Either way, it's pretty cool that these features exist.
Regarding the branding, the AOC logo is applied with stickers. This monitor was likely designed/built by a third party, probably Philips, or who knows these days? The Philips BDM4037UW appears to be identical (at least the hardware), so you can probably buy whichever is cheaper at the time.
The on-screen setup is pretty good, I think. I've never had a monitor with the rear joystick controller before... It's a welcome advance for TVs. A handy shortcut is to press "up" to change vid sources, without having to enter the main menu system. I use that often.
One minor quirk... The audio input has to be from the main video input. I connected my main computer to some nicer external speakers, and so I figured I could use this monitor's speakers as a slight upgrade to my secondary computer's internal speakers, but that didn't seem possible since the sound source options get grayed out when you choose an HDMI or displayport video input (since the audio is usually bundled in those cables). There's no technical reason for the limitation; the menu software is "too smart" to let you attach a random audio source.

Better than 4K tv for PC laptop or Mac!

This is the perfect balance of price, size and resolution for a large monitor. The key is the fast response time. If you just use a 4k tv for computing, you will not be happy because the mouse, video and audio will all be out of sync and too slow. This is made to be a monitor. The image is near perfect with only minor color drop-off from extreme viewing angles. Very well built, sturdy frame which does tilt. No height adjustment, but for me, it wasn't needed. The look of the monitor is very nice and clean and the curve is slight and the perfect amount when viewing from ~36". I'm using this to replace a dual screen setup and it's working awesome!
It's not perfect and the controls are a little strange, but for the price and what you get (it came with all possible connection cables), I'd give it a solid A. If you can get it for $599 or less like I did, do not hesitate!

*Brutal* reflection off this monitor

It's a great monitor. Performance is good, colors are good, resolution is great, ports are okay, sound is a little inadequate. Glare makes it unusable. I don't use this monitor at all. Sits on the desk powered down. There is just so much reflection of items and light sources that it is literally exhausting to try to use this. I've rearranged my office/studio a few times and still the reflection and glare is so bad I just can't use it. Other than a pitch black room this monitor is a waste of money. The image I attached shows the reflections - they are not on-screen images.

Best monitor I have used so far

I bought this monitor pretty cheap and initially I was a bit dismayed because it was doing 30hz refresh rate on HDMI and my eyes were hurting. I bought a USB-C to displayport cable and now it is doing 60hz and things have completely changed. The clarity of the fonts and the soft colors make this monitor a pleasure to work with for hours on end. So far, the best monitor I have used and I have been doing this a long time.
For the curious: I compared this monitor to an UHD tv with 4k and 120hz refresh rate as I thought that a TV with those specs would outmatch the monitor and save me $$. The result however is this: The colors on the TV were more vibrant, good for watching movies or video games, but when it came to the actual rendering precision, which became evident by jagged edges or color artifacts on edges of fonts, it made using the TV as monitor very uncomfortable compared to the monitor. So, the TV went back.

2 PC's with dual display all on one monitor!

I read the reviews and did notice some that said the red blur trails as objects were moving across the screen. I don't game, but do play some online games occasionally and will confirm that there is a red blur trail on things moving. So from a Gaming standpoint, this may be an issue for some people.
However, I use this monitor for both my work and home PC's, which gives me 4 separate sections to use as dual monitors (you will need to have 2 cables per each PC to get the dual monitor capabilities). This is great in that I can be working on items in the bottom two monitor sections and have a movie or an internet browser open in the top two monitors going at the same time.
As a work/home PC solution, this is a great monitor especially using the 4 monitor functionality. I wouldn't suggest using the 2 monitor functionality as it doesn't use up the entire screen and you will have some black dead space at all times. But to get around this, simply use the monitor as a single monitor and then utilize the Windows functionality to snap programs to the sides of the monitor to have them act like a dual or quadruple monitor.
I can't say anything about the speakers since I am not using them. There is no headphone jack on the monitor if you want to use them (which I generally do) so I have retained my existing speakers and wired headphones.
The $800 standard price was a bit much for me to go to this monitor, but I lucked out and caught a Deal of the Day promotion and got it for $450, which was a steal for what I am getting and can accomplish with all this video real estate. For someone who works from home (programmer) and needed additional monitors to be more efficient, this monitor is a great choice!! Coding, testing, troubleshooting, and research all visible at the same time is a great thing! If I was a gamer, I would probably be a little disappointed with this (which is why I gave it the 4 stars).

Great colors and quality.
It includes all the ports you need except DVI.
Good number of USB ports on the back.
Average viewing angles since non-IPS display.
I would suggest you to wait and watch for better models if you can.
However, I took geek squad protection for 4 years for peace of mind.

I love this screen. You can split it in 4 screen. When my boss got me this screen I didn’t like it. After the first day I fall in love with it. I bought one for myself. It is amazing. Love it.

Wow! Excellent computer monitor for the price! All cables included with USB 3.0 x4 hub on back of monitor was a nice bonus! PIP with multiple inputs was cool too. No input lag or ghosting. Couldn't be more happy with this purchase! Price was so good, I bought the Geek Squad 4 year warranty!

Very good monitor with this price, the screen is very large and display is clear and sharp. Include all kinds of ports and speaker. The shortcoming is its very low refresh rate and panel response speed, the picture will blur when display a fast moving object.
