My experinece with most APC and that they dont give you a very long battery life regardless of cost. Gives you enough time to shut down if you are close.

I don't know if mine is defective but it doesn't put out much power.. my gaming PC is verifiably low power, I have use a multi-meter to confirm this UPS should be fine but it beeps all the time randomly.. might change this if I RMA and that fixes it..

Review for APC - Back-UPS 600VA Battery Back-Up System - Black I’ve had a UPS for years and have always been happy when it was needed to do its job. When it died, I replaced it with this APC unit, and it seems to be working just fine. It’s easy to set up, compact enough to sit on the floor or mount on the wall and it can support up to seven items (two for surge protection only and 5 for surge and battery backup). It also has a USB connection which is convenient for everyday charging of my phone or other device. During a power loss, the USB outlet serves as a backup to recharge the phone up to 7 times. Although you can use this UPS to keep your computer and router running for a few hours during a blackout, I like it best for properly shutting down the system. I think I would save the rest of the battery backup for my phone, as mentioned above. During an extended outage, such as a hurricane, I’d have less need of my PC and more need of my phone. This unit provides much peace of mind in that regard. You can get cheaper units and you can get more powerful units, but in my opinion, this 600VA unit seems to be at the sweet spot between price and capacity.

Thank you for taking the time to review our BE600M1. We're sorry to hear about your experience with our product. Please do take note that a UPS' main purpose it to give ample amount of time to save anything you are doing. In addition, it is not recommended for a UPS' battery to get fully drained as it will affect the battery's life span or worse, it won't be able to recover anymore. Should you need more battery runtime, you may consider a bigger UPS or a model that has a capability of adding extended battery packs. Our UPS Selector tool may help https://www.apc.com/us/en/tools/ups_selector/ or you can contact us at https://www.apc.com/us/en/support/ should you need further assistance. APC

I am a huge APC fan, having used their battery backup products for years. I started long ago with a unit for my computer. Later, as I began to upgrade my TVs to increasingly smarter and more expensive models, I got two more APCs for the TVs and their peripherals. Rarely have I had to depend on them for power for any significant length of time, but when a power outage did occur, they were on the job. The 600VA is a new, sleeker model than my 3 other operational APCs, making it ideal for backing up my modem/router, which is located in a closet. I had not previously thought of using one on the modem, but as we are in hurricane season with a storm approaching, it might just come in handy. It's advertised as providing up to 4.3 hours of power to a home network. Depending on how many devices you are trying to power, I don't doubt the claim. After fully charging, I tried it out on just one laptop with minimal use and got 6.5 hours before I stopped testing it out. The 600VA has 7 surge protected outlets, 1 USB port, and 1 data port providing lots of backup opportunities. That said, if the power does go out and you want to maximize battery usage, remember to unplug any devices that aren't critical to you during the outage. Also, it comes with a 5’ cord and a 3 year warranty. In the years that I have used APC, I have had 1 device that finally needed to be replaced (well after the warranty period). Instead of buying a new battery, I simply bought another device, because it didn’t cost that much more than just buying a replacement battery, especially if it was on sale. I love APC and do recommend the 600VA.

Having used several APC UPS in the past and present I can say this unit is very simple to setup and hookup while still giving you the basic surge protection and battery backup you may need. All of my other UPS are much larger than this unit with a screen with information displayed however this unit has just one button which turns green when powered on and blinks when on battery mode. It features seven plugs all together including five battery backup/surge and two surge only. One feature I felt was very nice is a wall mount right on the back of the unit itself. Being fairly small and compact it surely could be mounted up out of the way which is something I have not seen on any other UPS so far. This unit also features a 1.5a USB port which is great for charging phones or other devices however I did wish it had a USB Type-C port that its larger brothers have. Depending on the draw this unit is rated from 30 minutes to hours of run time on battery power. Again this unit is not like its larger brothers which allow hours of run time but for the price and size it is a very good sweet spot for those looking to protect their pricey electronic equipment! Although a very simple unit the 600VA Battery Back still provides the basic needs to power routers/PC's/or anything with a plug/USB for a short time when you have no power. I would highly recommend this unit!

I’ve been using APC products for 25+ years now and they are the only UPS product I recommended and still do. I really like this newer design, it doesn’t take up as much room as the older squattier design and with all the outlets on one side it’s easy to push this up against the wall and keep it out of the way. After unpacking you will have to connect the internal battery before use, there are plenty of warning labels stuck to the outside of the unit warning about this. It’s a simple process, just flip the unit over, slide open the battery compartment door, take out the battery and attach the red wire to the positive terminal of the battery. You will probably see a spark once the end of the cable touches the battery terminal, that’s normal. Once attached, put the battery back, put the cover back on and you are ready use. This one is rated at 330W max so you will want to keep the combined power rating of all devices attached below this number. This model has 5 battery backup plugs, 2 surge protection plugs, and even has a USB charging port providing 1.5a. I haven’t had any problems charging any of the devices I hooked up to it, be it my cell phone, Bluetooth headphones, tablets, or anything else that accepts USB charging. It also has a USB port “cable included”, so you can connect it to your computer and use the PowerChute Personal software “downloadable on the APC website”. With it you can monitor your UPS unit and the software can also shut down your computer/laptop before the battery drains. We get a lot of power flickers here in MS during storms and with these I know my devices won’t be shutting off all of a sudden which is harmful to electronics. I have more than one of these APC units around the house and this particular size is perfect for putting small computer, TV, modem, router, or anything that doesn’t draw a lot of power. I have one hooked up to 16gallon reef tank just in case of a short term power outage. It provides at least 30 minutes of power, to keep the water / air pumps and heater running. I do keep the lights on the surge protection plug so they don’t drain the battery too fast. For any possible outages longer than 30 minutes I have other solutions available. I also have another unit hooked up to my 3D printer, it will let it continue printing for at least 10-15 minutes, after an outage, “I haven’t had a power outage longer than 15 min lately so I’m not sure exactly how long it will last while the printer is running”, this at least provides enough time for the power to come back on, or for me to pause the printing so I don’t ruin a print job due to a sudden power loss. This is another great APC product if you are looking for a good UPS unit that isn’t too expensive and can be used for many different things I’d take a look at this unit.
