Everyone should have a battery backup and surge protection for their computers. It is essential for me as I use my computer for work, and where I live, we have frequent power outages. It is a must for me so I can make sure I get my work backed up and then properly shut down. If I didn't, it could result in a loss of work when the power flickers or goes out completely. I have had that happen and it is not fun having to redo several pages of work. This is my second backup that I have bought. I have several things that I like to keep plugged into the battery backup and one was just not enough. And it is great with 3-year warrenty.

The APC UPS is a great product and very reasonably priced. I used to own a Belkin UPS and switched due to lack of support for software associated with the unit.
I purchased the APC system online from Best Buy and picked it up from the store on the same day. The process was seamless and the Best Buy employee that assisted me was great.

This unit takes up far less space than APC's earlier products and has very tight & secure outlets. Quite easy to put in use and get going. Power Shute is much easier to set up and really helps you manage your system.

Have 5 APC backups. I've got one hooked up to each TV and 3 for the computers at different locations in the house and office. Can't say how many times it has saved my equipment! If the wind thinks about blowing...my power cuts out. The APC backup allowed me to shut the machines down properly. So glad I have them!

I bought this to replace an old (4 years?) backup power supply/surge protector that was ceasing to work properly. I was very pleased to see that this one has a replaceable battery for when it dies, as it SHOULD be cheaper to replace the battery than the entire unit. So far it is doing a good job!

Works great for a home, or office. It keeps your computer and monitor going when the power goes out. Most outages in my area are less than 2 seconds, but I have run my computer and monitor for over 20 minutes with no problems.

This is probably my 3rd or 4th APC UPS - not because they fail, but because the batteries do have a shelf life (as do all of them). I usually get 2-3 years out of mine and it runs constantly with a PC, modem, and monitors attached. We have at least a dozen brownouts or power outages a year, so it does its share of work! I'm satisfied with the battery life, and have found it's usually cheaper to wait for a new unit to go on sale rather than order a replacement battery. APC also has great warranty if their system does fail (it did on one rare occasion, but that was a direct lightning strike to my house, so it's not surprising). They replaced all my electronics completely!

This item has saved my work. Keeping me online, with time enough to close down programs when power is out. Keeps me working if just having short intermittent power outs. Plus the added bonus of having my expensive net drives protected. Lasted about 12 minutes on my last power outage. Great!!!

8 plugs, 4 attached to the battery side, a long cable with a twisted plug, so as to not block your other wall plug from use. Powers my PC, speakers, and two monitors without issue. This was a replacement for another I had that lasted 7 years. Hope to keep this one around just as long.

Bought several of these for small office. Each one has a workstation, monitor, printer, speakers, etc. plugged into it. We do get some power surges here at our office and the computers do cut off sometimes or go into hibernate mode. Not sure if a more expensive UPS model would do better when we have the surges, but I'm still very happy with the product. If you can get it on sale it is definitely a great deal.

Satisfied with the APC UPS. One annoyance is the frequent cycles to the back-up battery when one of my printers is turned on or comes out of sleep. Originally, I plugged in my printers on the "Surge only" side and this caused nuisance trips. After contacting APC, I was told the high power draw of the printers will cause the unit to momentarily go to battery power and that the printers should ideally be plugged into a different circuit altogether. I ended up plugging them into a separate power strip from the other wall outlet and, true to what they said, the nuisance trips continue. I changed the sensitivity to a medium setting but it continues. Reluctant to go to Low since that setting is designed for a "dirty" power supply. The nuisance trips are actually a good thing, I suppose, but it's still a bit of an annoyance. Overall, pleased with the purchase and the PowerChute monitoring software is pretty good.

I was never one to use a UPS until my PC fried and now I use them all the time. My APC was easy to set up and easy to manage. Comes with everything that it is required and have definitely saved me since I bought it! Would definitely recommend it. Only complaint is that it doesn't have any USB ports. Seems like nowadays everything has USB ports for charging items. This device unfortunately doesn't.

Purchased two units to help iMacs through the occasional bump in the power. Unit has 8 outlets, 4 are supported by the battery and four are not. One outlet on each side is spaced a little further apart to handle the wall-worts common these days. Have had them about a month but haven't had power issues to confirm their behavior.
A note for those using OS X. The Powerchute software is not available for OS X, so there are features you will not have access to. That being said, the modern versions of OS X support a UPS without the need for additional software. Simply plug the UPS into your iMac or other Mac and configure the profile in the System Preferences, Energy Saver panel (a new tab called UPS appears after the device is detected). I took off a star because I had to contact Schneider Electric to find this information, as it wasn't easy to locate that from the software section on their web site.

Living in an area where brown-outs are common occurrences, this protection is a mandatory piece of equipment to protect all of our valuable electronics from the surges and shut downs. At present we have four units in our house protecting all of our televisions, game systems and computers. The protection provided by these units is worth way more than the price paid and I recommend them to all of my customers. They are small compact and actually look nice in the living room and game room. It offers peace of mind knowing that our electronics are safe from lightning strikes, line surges and static discharge.

With all the storms we have had here lately this battery backup has saved our butts numerous times in the last few weeks. This is the same model I have on my computer at work, so I figured if it is good enough for them, it's good enough for me. Great investment.
