After several years using an APC Back UP for my computer, printer and other items, it quit working. No problem! Go to Best Buy and purchase another APC Back UPS! This item works as a surge protector and with the battery it contains will keep your devices running for over an hour if the electricity goes off at your house or office!

APC makes a very robust and reliable battery backup system with a very good array of power ports for power supplies and regular corded devices. Easy to use. Important to estimate how much time and/or how many devices you would want to stay online during an outage.

This APC battery back-UPS is just what you need if you'd like to keep your network equipment up and running during a power outage. Right after I received this unit, we had a series of storms that rolled through over 3-4 nights. My house is prone to lose power since it's in the woods, and although the outages are usually only a hour or so at the most, it's annoying. Sure enough, the power went out the first night I had this new unit, but this time I didn't have to make a judgement call as to whether I should fire up the generator (usually if I do that, the power is back on before I get back in the house), because the UPS kept the modem, router, and security camera base station working for about 1.5 hrs until the power was restored, allowing me to stay connected to the internet with my laptop the whole time. l was even able to charge my phone at one point because I didn't want it going below 30%. Set up was a snap, and it blends in with the other items it powers, so it's not an eye-sore. I'm quite pleased with this product so far.

Right size to keep my server on line for those annoying power bounces. Works well, keeps it online for a short period. Not looking to run server for hours if power goes out

I've owned a number of these devices over the years. There's not much that has changed; invariably the batteries wear out; and you find the cost of replacement is just not worth it. The manual for the 650 states that the battery is NOT user replaceable, that makes it a disposable item. Better to get a new device anyhow; so that aspect of it doesn't make much difference to me.
One feature I did appreciate off the bat is the inclusion of a battery connect/disconnect plug. Previously, one would have to do a partial disassembly of the unit to put it in operating condition - so thanks for making that task a little easier.
I do have two issues with the unit though. The first is - it smells! This is an issue that is not unique to APC though, and the manufacturer's claim is that the odor dissipates or "burns off" after a short period of use. Well, in my opinion, "short period" is kind of dependent on the sensitivity of your sense of smell.
The other issue is the use of a single button. The one power button not only controls on/off, but also programming mode depending on whether you hold the button down for more or less than 2 seconds. There should at least be one additional button for silence as most UPS's provide.
There is one other thing not specific to this unit, but to all lower end UPS supplies. I have a home generator. The generator operates on 63 cycles - normal utility power is 60 cycles. Whenever I lose power, the generator cuts in automatically, and at that point, all my UPS's will refuse to charge & start beeping - they look at it as "dirty power." So during an extended outage, they become basically useless, and I have to unplug any device attached to them. It has to do with the sinewave of the electricity, suffice it to say if you want a UPS that charges on generator power, you need to invest a heck of a lot more dollars - most start in the $300-$500 range and go up from there.
All that said, this unit performed as designed, I would've just appreciated a separate mute button and a little less fragrance. And if you want one with a replaceable battery - it's not this model.

Great price for the piece of mind. I use this to supply power to my 27" iMac, printer, lamp, phone charger, docking station, etc.... I love that this model has an additional USB outlet and how many normal outlets there are. This allows me to power everything I need for my desk, and gives me the ability to provide unlimited power supply to most of the items plugged in!
I have several APC devices, and will continue to buy APC for my battery backup surge protectors!

I bought this because my wife and I both work from home and are often on conference calls. Unfortunately we live in an area prone to power outages.
We have a stand-by generator, but when the power switches from grid to generator, our modem and router have to fully restart.
Within 3 days of buying this the power flickered on and off a few times but the internet kept chugging right along. This was a great purchase!!!

- We use these little APC's for all our electronics.
- We live in the lightning capital of the world.
- We have many close lightning strikes, but never a lost an electronic device due to lightning.
- These are inexpensive to buy and the batteries last about 5 years.
- It's a bit of a challenge, but the battery can be replaced if you are handy.

So far so good. I bought this to prevent delays in connecting my work from home equipment after small power blips in storms etc. Works great and has kept my connection steady. I cant say how long the battery run time is with my modem and router, but so far it has met all of my needs with ease.

When the power "browns out" for a moment from lightning or some other anomaly this little unit keeps the juice flowing! Great for keeping your PC going under "regular use" aka web browsing, word processing, etc. But Not White Gaming. This is not intended for high power draw scenarios or use cases and if you try to use it on a PC, stereo, TV, console, etc. that is looking to pull a lot of power, it will not work. Used as intended however on a laptop, small TV/monitor, low power draw PC, etc., this works like a charm
