I returned about 30 minutes later to discover that a power outage had occurred. No, wait, one of the circuit breakers must've tripped because my PC was still on. I checked the breaker box downstairs, everything looked fine. What gives? That's when I realized my whole neighborhood had lost power, but my PC was still running thanks to my APC - Back-UPS 850VA Battery Back-Up System. I thought it would only supply 1-2 minute's worth, but this had to be a good 5-10, maybe more. I was able to shut down the system in an orderly fashion with no disruption. The darn UPS worked so well I didn't even realize it was the reason my PC was still up. How about that.
