Customers regard the Back-UPS Connect 450VA highly, praising its long battery life, strong performance, and ease of use. Many appreciate its compact size and reasonable price, while some wish for more space between the outlets and the inclusion of a USB port. The surge protection capabilities are also frequently highlighted as a positive feature. A few users noted some noise during operation.

It is simple to setup and works perfectly. It has a quality feel and works as intended. I have it hooked up to an expensive milk cooler/espresso machine. Every so often the power would go out and the milk would turn but now with the back up there is no funky mess to clean up after a storm or power brown out. It works perfect for my needs.

I would never buy this battery backup again. Biggest waste of money I spent in 2018, Bought in August, died 12/31/2018. When it died there was no battery backup, had to send a couple of hours bringing up and reconfiguring equipment that it was "protecting". Please take my advice it's inexpensive, and total not even worth the `$45 I paid for it. Steer clear of this one!

I ordered 2 of these I used them to hook 1 fish tank pump to each unit. The first unit started making a loud beep sound about 2 months in there was nothing I could do to silence it. The second one just stopped running my pump. I took them back to best buy and they could not help me told me to contact the manufacture It has been a couple of weeks and I still have not resolution.

Thank you for taking time to review our units. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with our unit. It sounds like the unit could potentially becoming overloaded because fish tank pumps can pull a bit of power in some cases. This unit is designed to be connected to small electrical equipment like a modem and router. When you have a chance please reach out to APCbySchneider directly at [email protected] so we can assist you further with the issue. We would just a little bit more information about the setup so we can determine if the unit is truly faulty or if the pumps are pulling too much power from the UPS.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that the runtime wasn't as expected. The runtime will depend on how much power the equipment draws. There is a chance that the equipment is pulling more than expected which would reduce the runtime on the UPS. If you are interested in more runtime you can check out our larger BackUPS units.

Exactly as advertised, a small and simple battery backup that is intended for keeping home networking equipment up and running during outages. I have my router, modem, and network switch all plugged into the battery backup portion which has 4 plugs, and a couple other things plugged in for surge protection on the other 2 plugs. The unit is nice and compact and other than height doesn’t take up a ton more space than a nicer surge protector would. It also has two holes on the back for wall mounting. I have tested it’s backup capability by unplugging it to see how my equipment handles and it’s like nothing ever happened. I believe it will be able to produce power for my gear for sufficient time to get things wrapped up when needed. I’ve been wanting something like this for years and I’m glad to finally be able to keep myself online for awhile whenever the power fluctuates. If you work at home and need to ensure you’re always connected this is a must have.

This UPS is perfect for keeping my computers on between loss of commercial power and my backup generator supply power. This prevents an abrupt computer shut down. In addition to supplying power during power failure, it also has built in surge protection.

Still running

I bought this back in 2018. It is now 2025. The battery is still perfectly running. I have multiple devices connected to it. All outlets are filled when power goes out. I still have power. It’s able to keep things running quite nicely. Obviously the battery is not as big as other competitors or other sizes that you can get so it does limit how much you battery power you do have when it does need to be Turned on but right now I have it set up in my office so if I were to lose power during the day or any type of glitch I still have access to my CPU/computer and my monitors as well so I can continue to work temporarily or at least get documents saved appropriately. That’s what this is used for. It’s a Band-Aid in case you lose power not necessarily a source to provide consistent power so I highly recommend this unit if you have a small office with laptop or desktop PC in a couple monitors it works wonderful Highly recommended

APC are great, They do their job. At my work recently we had an overload due to amps not being correct or something weird and technical above my pay grade. (pretty much we heard a huge bang and the generator turned on). Needless to say it destroyed some of our APC's but the computers were unharmed.
Anyway I am a believer in these and this one in particular is a good compact sized one that can and should be used for networks. I have camera's in my house so love the idea of ensuring that my cable stays on as long as possible during a power outage.
Cons? It does have a burning smell a bit, but that can be normal, it is my second one that has that burning type smell and both function without any issues or concerns.
It gives me some piece of mind for my electronics and some added time to keep my cable on during storms.

Bought 3 of these. The power flickered and the entire thing turned off with a loud beep on one connected to a computer. The other connected to a computer only 2 ports stayed on during the flicker. The one connected to the modem stayed on but the modem rebooted. Don’t waste your money.

Lasted for 3 years then died. The stupid alarm won't shut off which means the battery is dead. No way to replace said dead battery. Do yourself a favor and buy a UPS that supports changing the battery out.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that you ran into issues with the unit. You are correct that on the BN450M does not have an user replaceable battery. We went this route because it is generally not much more to replace the UPS compared to just the internal battery. This way you get a new unit that would come with a 3 year factory warranty on it.

Only had these (bought two) for 24 hours, so I can't comment on longevity or performance. I can only say at this point that they appear to be well-made, and are acting as they should. I've tested them with electrical appliances, and they do what they're supposed to.
I had one issue, and contacted Customer Tech Support, Jeremy from the Philippines was easy to understand and very helpful.
One of my units acted perfectly, steady green light under AC power. But the other one was green for two seconds, then two flashes etc etc. The guide says that means the unit is supplying battery power to the outlets, the way it would act if the power went out. Yet it was plugged into an outlet. First thing Jeremy suggested was try another outlet. Duh...the ground fault on the original outlet was tripped, and the outlet was dead. As soon as I moved the unit and plugged it in, BINGO. Forehead slap.
Now...as far as complaints about the battery being non-replaceable. There's a guy on YouTube who takes out the four assembly screws on the bottom, and removes a perfectly replaceable 12V, 4.5AH battery. Easily. Yes, you void the warranty, but after two years or so, I'm no longer going to worry about that. Shipping cost to return for service will cost more than the battery. So if this thing lasts a while, I don't see a problem.
I paid $24.99 each for these. I think they're a steal at that price.

Nice protection for Home Network!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The APC Back-UPS 450VA 6-Outlet Battery Back-Up and Surge Protector provides nice peace-of-mind for your modem/router, VOIP phone and mobile devices. It is estimated to give you battery back-up for 2hrs & 10mins for your Network Gateway (internet modem and router), or 1hr & 25mins for your Network Gateway and VOIP phone, or 22 minutes for your Network Gateway, VOIP phone and mobile devices, although those times can vary a bit by type of devices. It also provides surge protection to protect devices from surges and spikes.
As someone who works from home, I have had the unfortunate experience of having my power go out, thus knocking out my wifi, as I was remotely working on a document that was stored on my work network and suddenly not able to save it, as well as not being able to access other documents on the network. With the APC Back-UPS I would have been protected. While it won't keep me connected all day, in the event of a long power outage, it will at least let me save anything I am currently working on and I could access other network documents and save them locally to keep working with after the APC battery goes out and my wifi dies, at least until my laptop battery also dies. In the majority of cases, power usually comes back on in a short enough time that I would rarely miss any work time. At the very least, having enough time to save things you've been working on can be such a time saver, so it's worth having this battery back-up just for that. I have also had electronic equipment fried by surges/spikes in the past, so the fact the APC Back-UPS also provides surge protection means it covers me on both fronts.
The APC Back-UPS has four outlets which provide battery back-up plus surge protection. These four outlets are also nicely spaced to allow for larger plugs. It also has two additional outlets that provide surge protection only. With six total outlets, I was able to replace my former surge protecting power strip, providing me with the same surge protection I had before, but also allowing me to choose the four most important devices to cover with the battery backup. I have plugged my router and modem into the battery backup outlets, along with my laptop and mobile charging pad and use the two surge protector only outlets for an additional monitor and printer, both of which I can live without if the power goes out. I tested the unit by unplugging it from the wall and didn't even notice a change in the devices plugged into the battery back-up outlets.
The APC Back-UPS has various battery indicator modes, allowing for no alarm, or just flashing lights until the battery is low and it starts to beep, or full alarm where it beeps continually while on battery. There is also a status indicator to show power, battery on, low battery, replace battery and detected overload. You may lay the unit flat or it can also be wall mounted.
This unit is approximately 10" x 4" x 6" and weighs just over 5 pounds. While this unit is meant specifically for networking and mobile equipment, APC has larger units for supplying battery to things like TV's, gaming equipment and such. The price is low for these units, making it a very worthwhile investment if you work at home and can't afford for the power to go out in the middle of anything you are working on! I highly recommend it to provide that peace-of-mind!
