For over 15 years, with one minor exception, I've had nothing but good experiences relying on their gear to provide battery backup solutions. This home network battery backup has been living up to my expectations. Setup is dead simple. Plug it into a wall outlet, plug what you want to have battery backup to the clearly indicated plugs, and go. Easy as pie! I currently have this providing battery backup to my cable modem and a. network switch for my wired internet needs and it is working perfectly. Excellent piece of kit to keep you home network up and running through brief power outages.

The second time I use it with my laptop and mobile only for ~4-5hrs straight and some smoke come out and then it doesn't work any more.

No beep no warning just instant power shut off. The non battery side still works but not the battery backed up side. Not a good sign.

Worthless when needed

You would want to keep the load under 255 watts so it doesn't overload the UPS. It is designed is power your essential electronics during power disruptions, surges, and storms, It is primarily used with your home network system and is rated at 450VA/255 Watts to provide up to 2.1 hours of backup runtime for home networks. I recommend this if it is important for you to have your home network available at all times.

Backup battery with lots of outlets
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The APC Back-UPS 450 VA 6-Outlet Battery Back-Up and Surge Protector can be a lifesaver if you live in an area where power surges and short outages are common. Plug your cable modem, router, and/or wireless mesh system into the Back-up Battery to protect your equipment from power surges and to provide uninterrupted power for over two hours. This UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) battery by Schneider Electric comes unactivated. To activate it, pull the tab on the bottom of the battery and plug the tab in to the unit where indicated. Plug the unit into an A/C outlet to charge it. The unit provides four backup power/surge protection outlets plus two surge protection-only outlets. The outlets are widely spaced to accommodate large power supply plugs. I connected a cable modem/router and a wireless mesh system to the back-up outlets and still had plenty of outlets for a computer, printer, and more. The unit charges quickly. A green light indicates a full charge. A nice safety feature prevents turning off the backup battery accidentally; the power on/off switch has a delay. It operates quietly, does not generate excessive heat, and has a small footprint, so you can place in under or on top of your desk.

Posted .Thank you for you taking the time to review our UPS. By default our UPSs will beep when the power goes out to let you know that the UPS is on battery. However this unit does have the option to mute the unit so it doesn't alarm when the UPS goes to battery. The unit offers a quick mute option by shortly pressing the power button for less than 2 seconds during an alarm. There is also the option to turn off the on battery alarm completely. With the UPS turned on, you can configure the on battery indicator modes by holding down the power button and waiting for the third beep. At the third beep, the power button will cycle red/green. Release the power button and its color will indicate the mode it is in. You can mute the on battery alarm permanently by pressing the power button so the mode selector is flashing red. Once the mode as been selected please wait 5 seconds for the settings to be saved to the UPS.

Posted .Thank you for taking time to review our unit. Unfortunately our UPSs aren't designed to be ran in a cars. They are designed to be ran with utility power. If you are using a power inverter in your car likely what is happening the power is too dirty for the UPS to stay on. If this is the case you can try dropping the sensitivity down to low to see if the UPS will continue to provide power but there is a chance it may not. If you aren't using an inverter unfortunately this unit isn't designed to be ran for long periods of time either. Pulled the plug from the wall to test it and it beeped alerting me that there was no AC power and everything kept running fine. I hope this backup lasts for many years!
