Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the Back-UPS Gaming 1500VA's long battery life, multiple USB ports, and effective surge protection. Many appreciate its ease of use, clear display, and solid performance, noting the positive design and pure sine wave output. However, some find the unit heavy and large, and a few customers have expressed concerns about the brightness of the logo and the lack of control over the lighting. The price point was also mentioned as a potential drawback by some users.

This is a phenomenal upgrade from my old APC that finally quit. Setup was incredibly easy. Love the amount of ports that are available for battery backup. I’ve got my desktop, monitor, PS5, and tv plugged in and still have 2 more ports available. The front panel interface is very easy to understand as well. Overall I am extremely happy with this UPS.

About a month ago I purchased this item as a replacement for an APC XS1500, which was powering my gaming equipment in the family room (the APC XS1500 then became an upgrade for an APC XS1300 that I had in my office). So far, it's been a great upgrade and I am strongly considering switching out the XS1300 in my office with one of these as well.

1500VA provides extra minutes to keep working and the unit looks great - the least 'industrial' and most household friendly design I've seen in a UPS. Front ports for charging a phone are a nice touch tho I still use a charger plugged into the rear to get more power/faster charge to a phone.

This is the 2nd unit I buy for my home for this model. It has a nice look to it (for being a UPS) and provides true sine wave. My only complaint is that it tends to have a low buzzing noise, but I don't hear since it's under my desk.

    First UPS not disappointed

This if my first UPS, I got this mainly to be able to back up my new gaming PC with a 3080. I looked around for a while making sure I was getting enough juice to keep it running if there was a power outage and to protect my hard-to-find graphics card against any power surges that may happen. I haven't had issues with power surges in the past but wanted to play it safe. Although the footprint is kind of large, I think that is the same for most UPS devices. The styling of it at least looks nice and I used the 2 USBs on the front of it all the time to charge devices etc. The display is easy to read and I like that you can change the color of the lights on it. It was a little more than I was wanting to spend but I think it was well worth it to have peace of mind.

I have been running this unit for roughly 6 months now. I've experienced some power blips, and extended loss of power while using this unit and have had no issues. I have my entire home theater connected to this, which includes a gaming PC, PS5, LG OLED TV, NVIDIA Shield Pro, Network Switch, and other tertiary electronics. I also use this to charge my USB powered devices, so no need to have additional power bricks floating around the living room. The PowerChute software is a must as well, as it gives you a clear understanding of your utilization and estimated run times off power. I highly recommend this product.

A UPS with Class and Great Specs

Judging by the specs in their respective user manuals, APC has taken their top of the line, conventionally packaged, line interactive topology, sine wave BR1500MS2 and repackaged it in gamer's finery with LED trimmings and tweaked the Automatic Voltage Regulation, AVR, for the Arctic BGM1500 and Midnight BGM1500B. And an additional USB A port. The AVR is unique within this category of consumer grade UPSs as the competition offers boost only. Where the boost and trim for under and over voltage protection is ±11% in the BR, for the BGM it's +15.7% and -13.6% respectively. One can only wonder why these specs, as critical as they are, are not posted on their respective product page web sites. Seems like the engineering and marketing teams don't communicate outside of gatherings where there's cake. For power outages or serious power company problems (voltages go above or below the AVR range), battery power kicks in, otherwise known as standby topology. Surge/spike protection of 1080 joules, mutli-pole noise filtering, Green mode and automatic self-testing are additional features of note. Unless one opts for SOHO class UPSs at much greater expense, the BGM1500's will offer all the best protection and run time you can expect for your hard earned cash, the gorgeous design and tweaked AVR setting you back about $40-50 versus the tactical, test gear BR1500MS2. Given a life of at least 10 years, how much difference does that make? None. I purchased two of the Midnight. One for my desktop PC setup, an i9-9900K tower and a 25" monitor; 83 minute backup run time. The other for my LAN gear (cable modem, Wi-Fi router and 8 port switch), 55" QLED TV and Onkyo AV receiver; 30 minutes for all, 90 minutes for the LAN gear only. They replace two 20 year old Tripp-Lite SU1000XL online topology UPSs, having grown weary of their maintenance expense and tedium.

Needed a new UPS for a high draw computer, and this one was on sale. I usually buy Cyberpower, but since this was on a better deal I gave it a try. Pleasantly surprised, very clean design and works just fine. Desktop software is just meh, but you don't really need it anyways. Only complaint I have is that for the display to stay on, it has to be on the % of load view; you can't put wattage up and have the display stay on. That seems a bit shortsighted. As far as a ups goes, it seems to be working great, would buy again.

Set-up was super easy. It updates the battery usage time pretty quickly, so you'll have a good idea on how to get the best use out of it, in case of a power outage. I do with the lights could turn off or dim, as they are a bit aggressive at night. Overall an ideal investment for gamers, live streamers, video editors, or someone who just needs an emergency backup.

I bought this because I recently purchased a 77" OLED and I needed an extra layer of protection for my expensive purchase. This was one of the few Back-ups that had pure sine wave. So far it handles the TV, Ps5, and sound bar with ease. The most load I've put on it is 49%. One annoying feature is the display; I can't get it to stay off. It will be off most of the time, but once it is pushed above 41% load, the screen comes on to show you the status. This can be distracting and makes you want to hide the unit. I LOVE THE LIGHT ON THE BACK! I can actually see where I'm plugging things in. This should be standard!

Looks great and has enough power to run the high end gaming PCs. I have a 5900x with a 3080 and my smaller UPS would beep from all the power being used, and this one hasn’t beeped once. It gets to about 50%-60% load with 2 monitors running a game. Plus who doesn’t love some RGB in their build. Can’t turn off the APC logo so that white light will be on forever. Put something over it to block it out if it gets annoying.

It's exactly what it says it is. Alerts and properties are reasonably customizable. The power cord and cord for connecting diagnostics are longer than most similar units from APC. It doesn't do anything special aside from that. The software is still clunky garbage that hasn't changed since the late 90s. But it will do what you need it to. It's also overkill for almost anything.
