I have purchased a number of these units and am extremely satisfied with them. They are easy to set up - just plug in the unit and plug in the devices you want to have surge protected or surge protected and battery backed up. There are also 2 USB ports on the front to charge cell phones, etc. or to allow you to monitor operation/events from a computer using supplied software (I have never used this function so I can't comment on that). Protected devices will receive clean, 120 VAC power during wall power surges or brown-outs. This helps reduce power surge damage to sensitive devices and help keep computers from rebooting due to a temporary outage or brown-out. You should ensure that the total wattage needs for your devices don't exceed the rating of the unit but for most audio/video or computer systems this should not be a problem. If you do exceed the wattage (which I have done on one A/V + computer system) you should buy a 2nd unit and split (balance!) the load across 2 units. The units provide some outlets for surge only and others for battery backup + surge. Put critical items (e.g. computers, etc.) on the batter backup outlets. Battery backup duration will vary depending on the total load your devices draw. Information about your loads, battery life, etc. is available from the front panel display (cycle through displays via push button). An audible alarm can be turned on/off to alert you when a brownout or power outage event occurs. The display goes to sleep unless an event occurs. The unit also provides error diagnostic codes to help you determine fault conditions. One item of note: The battery in these units do not last forever. 2-3 years is not an uncommon battery life expectation, after which you will need to replace the battery (or entire unit). Additionally, excessive surges (e.g. close lightning strikes, etc.) can damage or degrade the surge protection circuitry. In general, though replacing a battery is easy and cheaper than buying a new unit, I typically replace units when the battery dies as you're never sure if the surge protection circuitry has been damaged/degraded.

APC Typically is my go to UPS

I work in IT and we typically use APC UPS backups. I have an older startups 1100, but needed a second unit. I like the display showing the load, battery runtime, input/charging, etc. It has outlets for surge protection only as well. You can install the software for your computer that will auto shut it down. It has some outlets for larger power supplies, so that you don’t burn up two for one. The telecom provider we have service with uses a well known brand (not sure if I can post the brand here), that we’ve had issues with. If the battery starts to fail, it will cause the power to flicker. This is even if your facility power never flickers. I know the power never flickered because the UPS was in our data center which all the outlets are backed by our large UPS. To my knowledge this has never happened with our APC units. You can buy less expensive units, but I like the size and again the ability to see the stats.

    didn't work with my pc

I work from a home office and bought this solely to protect my pc during outages, especially since we had a couple recent incidences of the power flickering off and on. Had the power go out this morning and this didn't work with my pc. It looked good for a few seconds, then the pc went dark. After some mouse jiggling and key tapping it came back asking if I wanted to resume Windows (which is not a natural sleep mode). After it finished restarting it went back down a couple of seconds later and wouldn't come back. On the display the battery showed fully charged (has been plugged in for several days) and load only one bar. Will be returning to try something else.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear about the issues you are facing with the unit. I would double check in the Power Saver options to make sure you have it set to go to sleep during a power outage instead of hibernating which sounds like what it went into too. If you need assistance in finding this option please do not hesitate to reach out to an APCbySchneider support team. We offer email and chat services through our support site. APC

BB replaced the defective product at no time flat

I received the first unit which appears someone has already opened it before and returned it because it was defective. I unpack this first unit and spent 20 minutes setting it up and troubleshoot it and deem it as defective also. I contacted BB support and got a replacement with in a week, and UPS came to pick up the defective unit soon afterwards. It was the easiest return / replacement I ever experienced, but I just wish I have a bit more notice. The replacement unit appears to be working for 3 weeks now, but I have not yet experienced a power failure yet. I hope the defective unit is a one off unit, and it is not a norm.

I bought this because my power supply had died the night before because of a power surge. I picked up another psu and ended up buying this also. I gave it 4 stars because there is an audible noise coming from it but its not noticeable if you have headphones on or if you are in a louder than normal scenario. This things is amazing because I was gaming and another power surge happened and it took it like a champ. This ups is a real life saver.

So long story short my server kept getting yanked off the mains when I didn't want it to. Had to rebuild my windows home server image (which was a massive pain, I'm a busy guy after all) bought this--zero issues since. don't be like me and wait until the fix eats hours of your time just get a UPS now. as for this model in particular battery capacity is adequate and the software it comes with is oddly alluring, no I'm serious I spent way longer than I'd like to admit just starring at the power statistics, real time power usage, and estimated battery life based on current load.

I have purchased several of these APC - Back-UPS units for both home and work. These have been purchased for work. If you want to assure that your equipment doesn't get fried from a Surge, and also make sure that you have time to turn off your equipment due to an extended power outage, go with a name that you can trust - APC. My daughter made a claim several years ago, and APC made good on their warranty. These units have a 3-year battery. Should the battery fail before then, they will make good on replacing the battery.

Purchased this as a replacement for an older unit that was smaller and the battery finally quit. Since I needed an immediate replacement, it was this one or a smaller unit. I chose this one and am happy with it thus far. It has enough places for connect our computers, wireless router and cordless phone. We've had one extended power outage and the unit kicked in immediately and provided uninterrupted access to my laptop. We have random power surges and this is when i'm glad to have my laptops on the power surge and battery back-up connection. This unit should last me a good while.

    APC BN1500 Battery Run Time

Purchased this unit after an older BX1500 failed even after replacing the batteries. My only need was to protect HP PC, VISIO 32 inch Monitor, ORBI Router from brief power loss. Initially the back up power reading was 57 minutes, not what I expected. Ten days later when I ran a self-test, the reading was down to 27 minutes. Not sure why the drop as battery showed 100% charge on both self-tests. I don't shut down my computer, my point on purchasing an APC was extended runtime which I thought would be 90-120 minutes, not so. I realize the more you connect, the less time you have on battery backup. Reviews can be misleading.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that the runtime wasn't what you expected. It may be because the Back-UPS Pro 1100VA is slightly smaller than your older BX1500. If the runtime does keep reducing please reach out to an APCbySchneider support team. The batteries need replacing eventually. They aren't all metal cases any more. But I've used APC UPSes of various types for decades now, and they've all been good enough (i.e. they've saved a lot of equipment over the years). Run-down time isn't that great, but mostly good enough to shut a system down without losing anything, once power's totally out. Endless power dips have gone by with (almost) never an actual outage from those. Good units and so far this one lives up to 'the usual'. Equipment replacement 'guarantees' I've never really had to test so far, so nothing to say at this point on that.

Works well but emits a high frequency sound period

It's alright for the price. Apparently these units emit a high frequency chirp periodically. Mine does it but it does not bother me as much as it bothers some of the reviewers. However, because of that, I feel this product should not be rated over 3 stars even if it functions well. I have never used a UPS before that makes noises like this. I have another APC UPS (Back UPS Pro) and it's silent. The only time a UPS should make any noise is when it's providing backup power.

The power goes off in my home very often. usually the power stay off and on for less than 10 to 20 minuets for 3 to 5 times a day. I finally decided to buy 3x1500VA & 1x1100VA battery systems after I lost couple of routers few weeks ago. During recent storms the power went out as usual but my 82" tv, desktop and other sensitive electronics was on until the power back on.

This is an upgrade from my old APC UPS. The APC PRO 1500NET I replaced was a serial interface and when the batteries failed the cost of replacing the batteries vs a complete new USB unit was only a $50.00 difference. Easy setup. The battery showed up with almost a full charge on it. It was pretty much just plug it into the outlet and plug in my computer, monitor. Very easy display to read. Only disappointment was that there was no PowerChute software included but it was easy to down load

I have been using APC Backup UPS units for many years and haven't had any issues with a total of four UPS Backup units purchased durring the last 14 years. This unit has the EMI and RFI noise filtering technology and it works!! When I run the washing machine, a light not plugged into the UPS unit pulsates and drives me nuts. When I plug the light into the unit, it no longer pulsates :) This just proves that the EMI and RFI noise filtering really works. Plus the LED screen monitoring of events and watt usage is real handy.

I've had this thing for just under a month and it's already saved me thousands of dollars in damage. Lightning struck between myself and my neighbors house just last week. Everything else plugged into the same electrical circuit this device was plugged into is totally fried. Everything plugged into this device, totally safe. As far as electronics go, this is the best investment I've made in the last two years.

When an older APC unit started beeping due to a failed battery, it was time to get a replacement. I looked at some of the cheaper APC units and they apparently don't have replaceable batteries anymore. This unit fit the bill and seems to work well so far. The reason why I required a replaceable battery is I have since repaired the other unit with new batteries and put it right back in service. No reason to throw out perfectly working devices if they can be repaired.

APC makes great UPS's and this is no exception. The new design of the cases looks a lot nicer and the display has a lot of information for you geeks out there. The front USB charger (type A and C) is very handy and has a 3A output so it will charge just about anything. It has 6 UPS outlets and 4 surge so I can plug in my PC, 3 monitors, printer and speakers all into the backup outlets so I get full blackout protection on my whole system and the 1100VA is enough to run it all.

Get the higher capacity 1500VA if you can afford it, otherwise the 1100VA should be adequate for a single computer to last 20 minutes (depending on your PC's wattage requirements) UPS batteries typically last a couple years so be prepared to replace if you don't get a lot of time out of the battery when the power goes out. I deployed a few dozen of these around my office complex, helpful when the power flickers and everything stays running.

Helps ease the mind when severe weather comes through, has a fantastic support capacity for the price point, and is incredibly easy to use. For everything I have plugged into it, I get an astounding amount of battery life, which should be more than enough to allow me to power everything down safely instead of potentially devastating losses to power fluctuations.

Although I did buy a little bit of an under powered UPS, it works as advertised. I have quite a few power interrupts at my house, especially during the rainy months with the Thunderstorms and stuff, so I was especially interested in protecting my investment. This is just the right product for anyone looking to ensure they don't have any power issues when the time arises.
