It’s good. There are two batteries on the inside of this unit. You will need to connect the red wire to the batterie before you start. This part was a little uneasy as I felt like I was going to shock the heck out of myself. But I went ahead and connected the wire and put the side panel back on. I tuned it on and it acted like it was goin blow for a sec. It started going thru channels. The sound was unpleasant. After that everything was right as rain. Seem to work just fine. It appears that only some sockets are protected while the others are normal ones. It outlines this for you so you know. My computer is not here yet. So I’m keeping it in the box till I get that. I’ll post some pictures of it off.

Works well, but all the outlets are right next to each other, and most of my electronics use a converter. Would nice to be able to rotate 90° so the converter block wouldn’t block adjacent outlets.

This APC Back-UPS Pro 1500VA arrived well packaged, with the retail box securely placed inside an outer shipping box. The first thing I noticed when lifting it out was the weight. It’s much heavier than I expected, which I actually see as a good thing. It immediately gave me the impression that this is a solid, well-built unit and not something flimsy or lightweight.
Unboxing was super easy. You just pull the unit out, remove some protective tape and plastic, and you’re basically ready to go. One important step is that you do need to open up the side panel and connect the internal battery. It ships disconnected for safety reasons, which makes sense. Connecting it takes just a few seconds and doesn’t require any tools. Once that’s done, it’s just a matter of plugging everything in.
You can run your cable connection through the unit if you want surge protection for your modem, which is exactly what I did. I have a cable modem, so the coax goes into the UPS and then out to the modem. All of the outlets on the back offer surge protection, but only six of them provide battery backup plus surge protection. The rest are surge-only, so you’ll want to think about which devices are critical and plug those into the battery-backed outlets.
One thing I do wish APC would consider for a future version is adjustable outlet orientation. Some of the power bricks I’m using are designed to stick out sideways when plugged into a normal wall outlet so they don’t block the outlet next to them. On this unit, those same bricks end up pointing downward and covering adjacent outlets, which means I can’t use every outlet on the back at the same time. It would be really nice if the outlets could rotate or be positioned differently so you could choose how those bulky plugs sit. That would make an already great design even better.
When I first plugged the unit in, I noticed that a red indicator light came on for a building wiring fault. After doing some research, this likely means the wiring in my home isn’t properly grounded or isn’t fully up to code. It could also mean that a two-prong outlet was converted to a three-prong outlet without a proper ground. I tested several outlets around the house and got the same result each time. This isn’t a fault of the UPS at all, and I actually appreciate that APC included this feature. It’s better to know there’s a wiring issue than to assume everything is protected when it isn’t. It’s something I’ll eventually have an electrician take a look at.
I decided to use this unit next to my home entertainment center in the living room since that’s where a lot of my important electronics are located. Right now, it’s protecting my cable modem, router, television, and a gaming desktop that’s part of my home entertainment setup. That’s a lot of gear, and having it all on one UPS gives me some real peace of mind. If there’s a power outage, I feel much better knowing my computer is protected, my TV is protected, and there’s a chance I may still have internet for a bit, depending on the situation.
Overall, I’m really happy with this APC Back-UPS Pro. It feels solid, it’s easy to set up, and it’s doing exactly what I wanted it to do. I’m honestly considering picking up a second one for my office to protect another computer setup. If you have valuable home electronics and want protection from power outages, surges, or voltage fluctuations, this is a great unit to have. I highly recommend it.

I have a variety of 3D printers, some of which run jobs that take literal days to complete. A power outage, even one that only lasts for a moment, can cause a print to fail, costing a ton of time and material.
The obvious solution? Battery backups.
The machine I have this APC hooked up to has a 400x400mm heatbed, and it temporarily takes a lot of power (a full kilowatt!) to get it up to printing temperatures before it levels off at around 200w. This 1500VA model screams at me when starting a print, but it holds. I deeply appreciate the simple alarm mute button.
Setup is super easy. Take it out of the box, remove the battery cover, plug in a cable, replace the cover and you're done. A USB cable is included if you want to control some of its more advanced features. The power cord is six feet long. and flat-angled.
The display is crisp and easily readable. I like the fact that I can cycle through different info panels, though mostly I use it to monitor power draw, as I also have several filament dryers and a resin printer connected to it (though obviously, they can't all run while the big guy's heating up).
Out of ten total power sockets, six of them have battery backup and four are surge protected, which is a nice mix.
A pair of USB ports (one A, one C) allows me to easily plug in the variety of cameras and other USB devices that I move around around my workshop for monitoring, so having a quick-access USB power supply front and center is always a welcome thing to have. In an emergency situation, you could probably charge phones for days on this thing's battery.
Battery life seems impressive. I lost power for about a half hour the other day after accidentally tripping a breaker (I didn't immediately notice), and it just kept powering through.
Overall, I'm very impressed with this battery backup. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to keep high-powered devices functional during short-term power loss.

I have used APC for over 20 years. This model is 900 watts or 1500VA and has USB and Type-C ports in the front. A total of 10 plugs total with 6 battery back-up and surge protection. You can download the Parachute software that allows you to track usage, power conditions, and power draw. With new gaming PCs requiring up to a minimum of 1,000 watts, a better way to protect your equipment and monitor your power draw and usage cost.

This is my UPS for general use in our office. I have one for each employee desk and we get an average of 150 minutes of runtime if the power goes out. Plenty of time to wrap up work and shut down normally.

Great UPS Battery Backup

What's included: Safety Information guide, User Manual, Warranty Information, Warranty Registration, 1x USB Ethernet-to-USB communication cable, and a UPS device. The battery device is very heavy, so you need two people to move it or use a stable cart to transport it. Once unpacked and after reading the manual, I connected the dual battery, since the UPS ships with the battery disconnected. Then, I charged the battery for more than 12 hours before initial use (before connecting any device or computer). This UPS works with the optional PowerChute personal edition software. During power outages, this software will save any open files on your Windows computer and shut it down. After power is restored, the computer will restart. I have a student at home who takes a couple of online courses, and it is critical, especially when taking tests, that he has a functioning device and internet connection. I am using this UPS and other older APC backup batteries to maintain a continuous, uninterrupted internet and device service. The computer, computer monitor, modem, and router will be connected to the battery backup outlets with surge protection. The UPS Pro comes with 10 outlets (8 with battery backup) and surge protection. The front panel buttons and display interface are easy to use and read. The interface gives valuable information like (1) On, (2) Load Capacity, (3) Battery Capacity, (4) Low and Replace battery indicators, and other useful indicators. The system beeps every 30 seconds during a power interruption. Since using UPS Pro, I have had no issues or system errors. Overall, I am delighted with this product and glad I am protecting my devices.

I own 4 of these and keep them connected to entertainment setups and computers in the house. You would be amazed how many events are reordered in a day. Hot summer so every ac in the neighborhood is going. These help regulate the power to my devices and assure me I have power to properly power down my electronics.

APC Really Has Your Back With This One!

A few weeks ago my power went out and I still needed to work! I work off a laptop primarily and have a power bank for my laptop that can keep me going for a few hours which in this case, would have been more than enough time for the power to come back up…. BUT my modem and router went out. My work papers and files sync real time and I need to be online to get the job done. Some of the programs I use can sync post reconnection but I like it to be real time if I can, the thought of losing the papers and having to redo them…. NO THANK YOU. I used my phone as a hot spot but I don’t really like to do that, I would much rather have my modem and router do their job. So when I saw the APC it dawned on me that I could keep my wifi and router going and work away sans phone hotspot. I also knew that the modem and router are very sensitive to minor ups and downs of voltage and the AVR (automatic volage regulator) feature would stabilize their performance. I have heard that for years and deep down I knew that to be true… a quick AI search confirmed that it should “significantly help” my router and modem performance. I didn’t realize that was as big a deal until I dug a little deeper! After a few days I am frankly shocked how my wifi seems a lot more stable. My devices do not glitch or drop off…The whole network is notably more stable…. Man I wish I would have just got the APC from the start.
Why the APC Back-UPS Pro, 1500VA Tower, Quality through and through and a brand reputation that no one in this space can touch. Some considerations though… It’s heavy. With 150 minutes for a PC load you need a big battery. NOTE: the battery comes unplugged so you will need to hook it up. It is super easy but follow the instructions. It is also swappable in a couple of years if the need arises. So back to being heavy, So where ever you set it…I plan to just leave it their…It’s not portable! I am going to use it for a modem and router…I would guess I could multiply the 150 run time by multiples for just that! 6 battery back up outlets and four surge protectors only. The battery backups also surge protect as you would expect. I love the LCD its big, clear and easy to read. They also offer a 250, 000 lifetime equipment protection policy and a three warranty and “Ontrack data recovery services”. Due to my company policy I can not use that service but if you lost family pictures or something you might just get them back if you had your computer plugged into this! I like that it runs internal testing every two weeks. It also has some software called “Power chute” that will shut down and save files in the event of a power outage. Not important to me, but might be for some. And two usb ports ( A and a C) which kind of seem unnecessary but cool to have I guess.
Over all this is an amazing Battery back up/ AVR/ Surge protector. They are number one for a reason. Again, I am very surprised just how much of a benefit it has provided to my wifi network! That alone is worth the purchase.

Unreliable, randomly fails with error F02

A UPS only has to do one thing right in my eyes and that's provide back-up when the power goes out. This is the first APC unit I have encountered that fails to do that. Worse yet, the unit fails intermittently so I'm expected to accept that behavior and "hope" it works when I'm not home to reset it. When street power fails, it might work flawlessly OR it might shut-down, emit a blaring alarm and display F02. Unfortunately, if disconnecting and reconnecting the battery resets the unit, it's considered working by tech support. So, it's actually an Occasionally interruptible Power Supply. Do not buy one.

Thank you for taking the time to review our BN1500M2 unit. We appreciate the feedback. There are 3 possible reasons for an F02 error on your unit: 1.) there's a true short at the load side and excessive current is detected 2.) there's a weak internal battery 3.) excessive load. If the error comes back what you can do is to remove all the loads first from the UPS, then turn the UPS off and unplug it from the wall. Once UPS is off, remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for 5 seconds while it's completely off. After these, put the battery back on, plug the UPS back to the wall and power it on - UPS should return to normal operation. If the Fault returns with no load connected, please contact us immediately. Otherwise, consider reducing the loads connected to the UPS. To test the condition of the battery, you may run a self test. Just press and hold the power button while it's on and while the loads are connected - wait for 2 beeps then release it.
