I have a variety of 3D printers, some of which run jobs that take literal days to complete. A power outage, even one that only lasts for a moment, can cause a print to fail, costing a ton of time and material. The obvious solution? Battery backups. The machine I have this APC hooked up to has a 400x400mm heatbed, and it temporarily takes a lot of power (a full kilowatt!) to get it up to printing temperatures before it levels off at around 200w. This 1500VA model screams at me when starting a print, but it holds. I deeply appreciate the simple alarm mute button. Setup is super easy. Take it out of the box, remove the battery cover, plug in a cable, replace the cover and you're done. A USB cable is included if you want to control some of its more advanced features. The power cord is six feet long. and flat-angled. The display is crisp and easily readable. I like the fact that I can cycle through different info panels, though mostly I use it to monitor power draw, as I also have several filament dryers and a resin printer connected to it (though obviously, they can't all run while the big guy's heating up). Out of ten total power sockets, six of them have battery backup and four are surge protected, which is a nice mix. A pair of USB ports (one A, one C) allows me to easily plug in the variety of cameras and other USB devices that I move around around my workshop for monitoring, so having a quick-access USB power supply front and center is always a welcome thing to have. In an emergency situation, you could probably charge phones for days on this thing's battery. Battery life seems impressive. I lost power for about a half hour the other day after accidentally tripping a breaker (I didn't immediately notice), and it just kept powering through. Overall, I'm very impressed with this battery backup. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to keep high-powered devices functional during short-term power loss.

    Effective Battery Backup System

The APC Back-UPS Pro is a very effective battery backed power support system, featuring easy setup and configuration, reliable operation, and it's great to see that replacement batteries are readily available. The 1500VA Tower version is very capable with 10 NEMA 5-15R outlets and a 900W total load capacity. All 10 outlets are surge protected, and 6 of the outlets are battery supported. The Back-UPS Pro ships with an instruction booklet and other documentation, a custom USB data cable with a connector specific to the Back-UPS Pro data port on one end, and a quality assurance final test summary taped to the side of the unit. Setup instructions are clear and easy follow. A side panel is removed to access the sealed lead acid battery unit, the red (positive) power lead is connected to the battery, the battery panel is replaced and the unit is powered on. The battery was initially almost fully charged. The included instructions say to install PowerChute Personal Edition software. What you find on the Schneider Electric website is that PowerChute Personal Edition is discontinued (the most recent version is v3.1.0 for Windows from June 11, 2019) and has been replaced by PowerChute Serial Shutdown software. After connecting the USB data cable and installing PowerChute Serial Shutdown on an up to date Windows 11 Pro system, a desktop link is created and the Back-UPS Pro configuration and status interface is available through the default web browser. It's pretty easy to get your arms around the PowerChute web interface by exploring it, and the help information is good at providing additional information. Status information showed that the battery was fully charged, and the equipment connected to battery supported outlets (a desktop PC, two monitors and a router) should run on battery for 45 minutes. The Back-UPS Pro was configured through its web interface to shut down the desktop PC after 10 minutes of power outage, and to turn off its battery supported outlets 3 minutes later. The PC was left with a couple web browser tabs, a PDF document and a file browser open, and power to the Back-UPS Pro was disconnected. Windows was shut down after 10 minutes and power was turned off 3 minutes later, exactly as configured. AC power was reconnected, the PC was restarted and the Back-UPS Pro brought its batteries back up to full charge. The only small issue I notice is a slight coil whine when the batteries are charging. I noticed this when I first plugged it in and again after checking power outage response, but don't hear anything when the battery is charged. The APC Back-UPS Pro 1500VA is a very welcome addition to my office. It is easy to set up and configure, and does exactly what I expect it to do. It protects the PC, router and other connected equipment from power disturbances, allows the PC and router to stay up during brief outages, and makes sure the PC is shut down normally in the event of a prolonged outage.

I opted to get this battery backup device because our area has infrequent blips in the power transmission. It only goes out for maybe two seconds at a time but it’s enough that I worry about my PC and especially my PS5 Pro console. I have an 8 TB external drive attached and every time the power cuts out and back on I get a warning message on the Playstation that my HDD was disconnected improperly and needs to be checked. Hasn’t caused an issue yet that I know of but I feel better knowing that this device is there to protect my equipment from surges and help during these power dropouts. The unit is equipped with a loud alarm so I will know when it activates. It has 10 receptacles, six are surge and battery protected, the other four are surge only so I plugged my clock, audio amp and powered subwoofers into the four surge receptacles since they don’t need battery backup and then plugged my television, PC, Playstation, both external hard drives, and my powered usb hub into the battery and surge receptacles. You might think it’s odd to want to keep a usb hub powered but my son games with a third party controller that requires a dongle so if he’s on when the power cuts out the hub has to stay powered for him to be able to initiate the shutdown. I usually keep my PC shutdown if I’m not using it so I don’t worry so much about that device, but the Playstation is either on or in rest mode always and even in rest mode it will flag that error message if the power cuts out. I was leery of pulling the plug to the battery backup but I wanted to see it work. I tried it first with the TV off and the Playstation in rest mode. The display showed that it had 347 minutes of power in that configuration. That’s over five and a half hours. We don’t typically have an outage that lasts that long but I feel like that’s more than enough to protect my gear if I’m not at home. The rest light, the yellow glow, stayed lit as did the pilot light on the external HDD. So now I need to see how it does with the equipment operating. I have to admit, I was more than a little nervous pulling the plug on over $3k worth of electronics while they were powered up….but I had to know! The TV is an 85” Sony XBR, much larger than the 42” TV they mention in the specs. The TV didn’t miss a beat, the Playstation didn’t flicker at all. Matter of fact, I couldn’t tell anything had changed except the Back-ups display indicated I was running on battery and the power fail alarm was sounding. Probably good to keep the alarm able to sound because I wouldn’t know the power went out otherwise, it’s an unnoticeable switchover. Oh, and the display indicated I would have 15 min of power available at the current load, more than adequate to power down the equipment.

APC Reliable Clean Power & Surge Protection

I have been trusting my expensive and sensitive data equipment to the protection of APC UPS's for years. They give reliable protection from fluctuating power sources, power brown-outs and full power black-outs. They have never let me down on the job. The APC Back-UPS Pro Model # BN1500M2 is another excellently designed and manufactured Energy Star certified Uninterruptible Power Supply that meets the demanding performance and efficiency standards of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). The new unit even comes with its final Quality Assurance Test results taped to the unit. (As a Quality Assurance Specialist, I find that very cool!) This 1500VA model tops out at a 900W maximum load at 120V using (10) North American receptacles with a NEMA 125V, two-pole, three-wire (hot, neutral, ground) configuration at a 15-amp current rating, plus (1) USB type C 5V / 3a charging port and (1) USB type A charging port for 15W DC in total. In this model, (6) of the (10) receptacles are both Battery Back-up and Surge Protected, while the (4) other receptable are only Surge Protected. The Battery Back-up receptacles receive power for a limited time during a Power Outage, so that sensitive items such as laptops, desktop computers, NAS's and gaming consoles can be shut down properly without damage or loss of data. There are also Coaxial ports with surge protection for protection of equipment such a cable modem and surge protected In/Out Ethernet ports. I have (2) printers, (2) laptops, (2) monitors and other items plugged into my APC BN1500M2 UPS and am no where near the 900W total. You can check your load on the unit's easy to read Power Saving Display. I am at about 240W with a few open receptacles. The lighter the load the longer the Back-up battery will last during a power outage event. The battery is user replaceable and should be replaced every (5) years or at actual end of service life. Please read the provided manual to get the most out of your APC UPS. I suggest you read and follow the well-written and detailed instructions to use the unit properly. There are many features and icons that I have not mentioned. In my opinion, there is a no more reliable and efficient UPS manufacturer than APC. This Back-UPS Pro Model # BN1500M2 does the job of protecting my precious data and delicate electronic equipment. I highly suggest this unit for friends and family.

I recently purchased the APC Back-UPS Pro 1500VA from Best Buy to protect my home office and electronics, and overall it’s been a great investment. The unit currently holds an excellent 4.7-star rating from thousands of reviewers, and 94% of buyers would recommend it to a friend — and after using it for a few weeks, I can see why. Strong Performance & Battery Life This UPS delivers reliable backup power when utility electricity cuts out. Many users (including myself) were impressed with how long the battery lasts under typical loads — enough to save work, shut down safely, or keep key devices online during brief outages. Easy to Use & Monitor The clear LCD display makes it simple to check load levels, remaining runtime, and battery status. It was very easy to set up right out of the box, and the interface is intuitive even for first-time UPS buyers. Plenty of Outlets + Extras I liked that the unit has 10 outlets and includes both USB-C and USB-A ports — great for powering multiple devices, from computers and routers to charging phones.

First, this unit weighs a TON! I am a "woman of a certain age" and had quite the time moving it into the living room! I have plugged in my router so that in the event the power goes out, I can continue to have Wi-Fi. I thought I was going to have to write my review based on stand-by usage but low and behold, two nights ago, the power went out! Terrible wind storm! I was totally unprepared. We NEVER lost signal. The battery immediately kicked on and the Wi-Fi stayed steady and strong! Some in the household did not keep their laptops charged and therefore could not watch TV on them (oh well!). Phones stayed strong however. I was able to watch TV for a while with my fully charged laptop! At first, there was a steady beeping to let me know it was running on battery power (like I didn't notice the lights were out!). It took me a few minutes with my phone's flashlight to figure out how to shut the beeping off! After watching TV for a bit, I did shut the unit off when we were all ready to go to sleep. It only has about 300 minutes of run time with only the router plugged in and I wanted to save some of the battery power in case we needed to charge phones and other things the next morning. Luckily, the power came on overnight so it wasn't an issue. I was surprised that the run time wasn't longer given the weight of the unit! It feels like it should have battery power to run for days! If you have sensitive equipment you need to protect and general surge protectors aren't adequate, or if you have electronics that you need to run even without power, this unit is for you! Just bring a hand truck- this baby is heavy!

    Great UPS Battery Backup

What's included: Safety Information guide, User Manual, Warranty Information, Warranty Registration, 1x USB Ethernet-to-USB communication cable, and a UPS device. The battery device is very heavy, so you need two people to move it or use a stable cart to transport it. Once unpacked and after reading the manual, I connected the dual battery, since the UPS ships with the battery disconnected. Then, I charged the battery for more than 12 hours before initial use (before connecting any device or computer). This UPS works with the optional PowerChute personal edition software. During power outages, this software will save any open files on your Windows computer and shut it down. After power is restored, the computer will restart. I have a student at home who takes a couple of online courses, and it is critical, especially when taking tests, that he has a functioning device and internet connection. I am using this UPS and other older APC backup batteries to maintain a continuous, uninterrupted internet and device service. The computer, computer monitor, modem, and router will be connected to the battery backup outlets with surge protection. The UPS Pro comes with 10 outlets (8 with battery backup) and surge protection. The front panel buttons and display interface are easy to use and read. The interface gives valuable information like (1) On, (2) Load Capacity, (3) Battery Capacity, (4) Low and Replace battery indicators, and other useful indicators. The system beeps every 30 seconds during a power interruption. Since using UPS Pro, I have had no issues or system errors. Overall, I am delighted with this product and glad I am protecting my devices.

I am in graduate school and was working on a long paper. Where I live we lose power often, which this one night we did and I lost all my work. This battery backup system is amazing. Again, just the other night I was working on a paper and we lost power. Immediately it kicks on and my computer is still powered up, gave me plenty of time to keep working then to save. Only down size is it is pretty heavy. The size doesn’t take up much area. Easy to setup, light up screen. Alarm turns on to let you know when you are working on batter. Has USB ports to power your devices.

This replaces an older APC Back-UPS system, the 1000, that had been in use for five years. Now have both PC and Apple systems, multiple monitors, printers and other accessories. Because of the the consistency and high quality of the APC and the expanded backup outlets of the Back-UPS Pro 1500VA, moving to this new system was a no-brainer.

The APC Back-UPS Pro Tower is heavy. There must be a sizable battery inside. Good. I like the features, especially the simple columns of outlets on the back. One side only supply surge protection, the other side supplies surge protection and battery backup. I have the PC and main monitor on the battery side and my second monitor and printer on the surge protection side. This allows for longer battery life if the power goes out. Easy setup, plug and play.

During the great Texas Power Outages I learned two things. First my old APC-Back-Up was rated too low to handle all the up/down power issues we had. I bought this new unit after lots of research. I realized after installing it how clean the power is. We live near a substation and when a transformer blew a couple of weeks ago this APC-Back-UPS Pro performed like a champ. My PC and my network stayed up and running. I love that you can actually connect the unit via USB cable to a laptop or PC and use the Power Chute to monitor statistics on your surge events, power outages and the general condition of your home power. I will now relax when that thunderstorm comes through or a transformer blows. I know this unit works. I can't yet vouch for how long my stuff will stay up on battery but I have a lot plugged into this unit.

Yea, I always buy this every 3 - 5 years. APC is on your side. We had these in our company and we have an Enterprise version too. Once thing nice about APC, you can call them up and there is someone on the other end ready to talk to you. Cyber power you get an empty desk and no answer what so ever. If you value your computer, laptop, PC, game station, etc, This is a must have. What did it do for me? I plugged in my PS5 to it while updating using a surge protector, and the power went out. There goes my PS 5 and I could not recover it. Later, I had to buy a new one. Wonderful, I added the APC and it happened again the PS 5 finished updating and there were no issues. I have a computer with 4 monitors, power went out for about 10 minutes, I was on battery. My computer and the network kept running. Mind you I bought 2 smaller 650va APC with battery backup that kept my network running. I was able to continue on playing for a while longer. Once I got down to 10 minutes left. I had to shut my computer down and again no issues. Also I had a surge and my APC took it. One time I accidentally didn't plug all my computer equipment to the apc and it fried the board. I was lucky enough to buy the graphic card and mother board and everything else was reusable and I was back in business. The next time the surge, or power drop happened, my computer did not have a single problem. The APC took care all of it. Yea, so it is a life saver. I replace the unit every 3 years but I rotate my equipment out. one of my old cyber power with battery stopped working. I have one on the computer getting old. So I bought a new one, use the new one on my computer, use the old APC 1500, and replaced the cyber-power one. The cyberpower one is slated for the electronic recycling dump. In the end, it is worth it if you are trying to save your expensive PC. If you lose the apc, is nothing compared to your PC and montiors. Lesson learned.
