Conveniently clamps onto desk. No more damage trying to hang on the wall or under the table. USB c cable connection for quick charging. Out of the way with plenty of outlets for easy access. From a name that is trusted for battery backups and connectivity. Very pleased. 10/10

My desk set-up is based around a smart-standing desk. It’s open on the bottom and sides so cable management is very carefully planned. There is a main powerstrip hidden underneath the desk that powers the main components of my set-up, but there are a lot of times when I need very quick, easy access to a power strip to charge my camera batteries, iPad, or other tech devices. For a time, I had a charging tower on my desktop. This vertical power strip didn’t seem to meet my charging needs as it wasn’t efficiently charging my more power-intensive devices (iPad Pro, etc.). So, I turned to the APC SurgeArrest 6-Outlet Surge Protector Strip for a next-generation powerstrip design. The APC SurgeArrest is designed to provide users with a powerful charging station while maximizing desk space at the same time. It features lightning and surge protection as well as provides a fail-safe mode that protects connected devices during a power spike. The USB ports (Type-A and Type-C) allow for simultaneous charging (up to three devices). The power station has a 6-foot long cable, which is perfect for me because I can route the extension cable to a power outlet without messing up the aesthetic of the smart desk. While some people might be turned off by the fact that there are only 3 USB ports included on this charging station, I found it ideal for my purposes. Most of the time, I’m only charging one or two devices at a time anyway, and if I really need extra USB ports, I can always plug a power adapter into an outlet on the SurgeArrest. One of the things I really like about this charging station is its unique design. For me, I am able to attach it to the side of my desk, which provides additional hidden power outlets for a small lamp I have on my desk that until now has been connected to the main power strip under the desk. Even though I have my SurgeArrest attached to the side of the desk, users do have the option to have it freestanding, too. It is balanced enough to do so. I do wish that the mechanism on the bottom that secures the unit to the desk was stronger. I feel like it only provides pressure at one point and that makes the entire thing able to twist if it’s pulled or pushed too much. Aside from that, I’ve been very happy with the power station’s performance. The design may not work for everyone, but for someone who needs easy access to power ports on a desktop (workbench, etc.), this is a wonderful option.

I think what sets this one apart from the other power strips that I have used in past, is it's design. There is a sort of spring loaded clip which can attach this to a desk, monitor etc (the maximum thickness allowed as per the specification is 62mm). It has allowed me to keep my cables much more organized and my home office looks much more tidy now. Please see the attached pic. I think this is one of the few strips where I was able to use all the outlets because of the way they are placed and the type of pins that I have. Otherwise, I always end up sacrificing one or more outlets. It also has 2 type A and 1 type C connectors. So, I can now charge my headsets etc directly from this rather than relying on yet another power/USB cable combination. At the same time also get a peace of mind knowing that even these USB charged devices are safe from Power surge. Overall, I am very happy with this strip and would recommend if you have a work station with 25-62 mm thickness.

The APC SurgeArrest Essential is a 6 outlet surge protector with an interesting design. It also includes 2 2.4A USB type A, and a single 4.8A USB type C, charger mounted on top – along with an on an off switch. The unit comes with a 6-foot power cable. The unit has a surge energy rating of 1080 Joules. What makes this unit so exiting is it’s clever design. Shaped like a “U”, it’s designed to wrap around the edge of a desk. The open is designed to work with any desk or partition between 1 and 2.4 inches thick. When attached to a desk, you’ll have easy access to the USB ports on top as well as the 6 outlets on the underside. I’ve been using the unit for about a week now and have no complaints. Creative design and plenty of accessible power. What is there not to love!

I like this thing after giving it a shot. At first, I thought the form-factor was kind of weird but IT WORKS! It offers a 1080-joule surge protected 6 ft. power strip with USB ports and outlets. Schneider Electric covers you with a $50,000 lifetime equipment guarantee so no worries there. It is plastic like every other surge protector out there and I do not even worry about this falling and breaking. The only thing I would worry about on this is the little "leg" that holds it onto an edge. It seems a bit thin but only time will tell. On this little guy, you can plan to connect 2 Type A and 1 Type C to charge devices without having to plug in your wall-wart! There isn't any "fast charging" happening here with the max output being 4.8A though. USB C alone will get you 3.0A and the remaining 2 USB will share 2.4A. This "strip" is pretty adaptable so you don't have to just throw it on the floor behind your desk. In my testing, I found it fits around my monitor base, the edge of the desk, and also just set it on top of the desk like a charging station. The power cord swivels 90 degrees up and down where it meets the power block so you have more flexibility routing and placing it. The plug is a 90 degree downward so that will keep it low profile. I would like to see a swivel plug to further adjust the angle. Wall connector reversible? Mounting points on block? What is output at EACH USB? Include photos of plugs and power ratings of USBs Useful Details Model Number PE6U21 $50,000 Warranty (see details) Product Height 5.3 inches Product Width 5.2 inches Product Length 2.7 inches Product Weight 1.5 pounds Cord Length is 6 feet Recommended for desk/partitions 0.98in - 2.44 in (25-62mm) thick The VERDICT This is easily a buy if you are tired of messing with the traditional power strips. If you plan to mount it on the edge of the desk, ONLY get this if you are on a desk 25-62mm thick. Otherwise, just save money and buy a straight power strip.

I picked this up to use on a desk that had an area that required a unique shape and this one fit the bill. It provides both USB-A and USB-C for your device charging needs. This easily handles all you power and charging needs in the office or in a kitchen on a counter top. The u shaped design may not be for everyone and that is the only reason I gave it a 4 and not 5 stars.

The APC SurgeArrest Essential Multi-Use 6 Outlet with 2 Type-A 1 Type-C Port 4.8A USB Charger is an extremely convenient and space saving product. I have a desktop machine set up with two monitors, but I also usually have at least one laptop that I'm working with (sometimes two). Before testing this product, I was plugging my power cords either directly into my UPS or a into a power strip, both of which are under my desk. With the addition of this unit however, I not only have 6 outlets literally within 1 foot of me at all times, but I have 2 USB ports and 1 USB-C port that allow me to charge my phone as well as other devices. I have the device mounted on the edge of my desk and although it doesn't seem loose, the only thing I would complain about is that the spring-loaded clip that secures the device to the desk needs to be a bit stronger. Other than that one thing, this product has been a really nice addition to my office; it has made connecting power to my laptops, phone, and other devices much more convenient as well as enhancing cable management. I would definitely recommend this product.

I was so excited to get this SurgeArrest 6 outlet /2 USB Protector Strip to replace a smaller version of 3 Outlet/3 USB ports. The SurgeArrest is perfect for my multiple electronic device charging needs....from laptop, tablet, wireless earbuds to smartphone that I use on a daily basis. I was able to set it up and put SurgeArrest to use right away. With Winter upon us the SurgeArrest is very convenient and powerful with its 1080 Joules to use with a small portable heaters. The SurgeArrest plug and charge device has a unique design and the Type C-USB Port is major plus. The 6 Surge Protected outlets gives you the ability to use more options with placement in charging as apposed to the normal flat strip. The Surge Protection Led light and Power Switch resettable circuit breaker give me the security and safety I need to know my devices will be well protected.

This device offers an excellent mix of convenience and protection through its clever design and broad array of plug options to power your devices. The best feature for me are the three USB ports on top of the device. These offer a great range and amount of ports to charge your phone with a USB-C port or USB-A. I was able to achieve charge speeds about the same as a standard Samsung wall adapter, meaning it you can get a full charge about twice as fast as a standard 5-watt charger! The setup is incredibly easy, with the entire unit clipping onto the surface of your desk and allowing the clip area to work as a cable management system! This is extremely handy to keep my laptop power cord from getting tangle by my feet. I would recommend this for anyone who has a good amount of mobile equipment that they regularly plug and unplug from their desk setup.

Handy Power Station at Desk level

I am an engineer and have a small electronics lab at home where I tinker a bit. This is a great power strip for this application. It is very convenient to have outlets at the same level as lab bench. I am always plugging and unplugging different tools and equipment, so it is nice to not have to get on my hand and knees every time to do this. Phone charging is also reasonably fast, gets more than a 60% charge on my phone in about 1 hour. A few comments: 1. For a lab bench or in a business environment, this is perfect product. For a home office, aesthetically speaking, this is a bit of an eyesore. 2. Power strip switch needs to be in the on position for the USB ports to be powered. It would be nice to have the USB ports always powered or on a separate switch. One of the nice things about having this at table to level is that when you are done working, you can just turn the switch and kill any power consumption from the items that are plugged in. But, your phone may not be done charging yet.

I really like this product! **HIGHLY RECOMMEND** It is sleek with glossy black and grey plastic casings. The strip is light weight if you do not consider the cord (since it hangs elsewhere). The strip stays cool, even when each plug is full, and those respective devices are on. The "U" design adds a variety to the traditional power strip options, that I did not know I needed and now, wanted. I have included a picture of where I keep mine. But I did place it on the back edge and both sides of the desk as well and wasn't unpleased with the result. However, it did not fit on the countertop built-in desk we have because of the cabinet's underneath lip. Please consider the placement of the device before purchasing. I love having such a strong name as "APC" guaranteeing my protection. As opposed to the drug store off brand that I previously had. The unit charges phones and other devices at an accelerated rate too. My iPhone 8 will charge from 3% (I never let them die completely) to 100% in about 1.5 hours, my Sony Android will do the same via USB-C in just around an hour, my Fossil watch in under an hour, and my HP Laptop in about 2 hours. This is a pretty good difference of improvement for all my devices all around. The laptop did vary but this is fairly on par. Long story short, I will be purchasing additional unit for each work desk top space in my home and office.

    Fantastic, quality surge protector/charger

When it comes to surge protectors, I am usually one to "splurge" a little, do my homework, and look for quality products as I know I'll be using them for my own electronics. After setting up this product and using it for a few weeks, I could not be more impressed. Not only is this product able to charge all my things, at the same time (wireless earbuds, two phones, MP4 player), but it conveniently fits on my computer desk at home and is a tremendous space saver allowing for more work/desk space. In total, you have 2 USB-A outlets, 1 USB-C outlet, which is pretty convenient nowadays for charging electronics. You also have 6 outlet plugs, which I'd say is pretty standard for a "normal" surge protector nowadays. I've been able to charge five things at the same time with no issue, including items that can be "fast charged", such as my personal phone. Arguably something that I think is more important is the "quality" and "feel" of this product. It definitely feels like it was made with good material and aesthetically it looks awesome. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a space saving surge protector that you may want to "show off" or conveniently have within reach. Awesome product, APC!

This surge protector is a convenient accessory for anyone who works at a desk and doesn't have a lot of space to manage cables from cell phones, desk accessories like desk fans, and other accessories like mice and keyboards. It's a simple product that clamps on your desk for more space. There is an on/off switch for when you don't need power to it. It has a Type C port 2 usb ports, and 6 3 prong ports! I can charge my phone, laptop, mouse, use my desk fan, and still have left over ports. I highly recommend for work and home desk use.
