If you need to expedite data transferring through Apple products, you can't beat this cord.

Definitely was a necessity in order to use your iMac as an external display for your MacBook Pro laptop.

Bottom Line: if you still have a device with Thunderbolt port and need to connect something to it, this cable will get the job done. Review: I'm using this cable (along with a TB3 to TB2 adapter, sold separately) to connect my older, mid-2012 MacBook Pro to a modern, TB3 eGPU. The setup works really well. Note, though, that 1.6' is really short for a cable, so make sure you measure how far you need to go with the connection. Also note that it's a TB connection on each end of the cable, so you might need an adapter if you're connecting TB to a non-TB device.

I use the cable hooked up to a SSD for doing backups, takes less than a minute to back up my main HDD
