This cord is necessary to have if you need to connect two computers to transfer data. A must if you ever have computer issues and are in a bind. Sort of pricey but if you use just once then it pays for itself.

I went looking for this and walked into best buy and immediately found it and took it home to transfer all my info from my macbook to my new iMac and it did it in about twenty minutes vs twelve hours transferring over wifi. Saved me time and patience.

Does what it needs to do, connects components to each other. Works great.

The cable works great but you either get a VERY short cable, or one that's 6' long. I got the short one because I was just hooking two 23" iMacs together. It is not long enough to let them sit next to each other. One is partially behind the other. So, be sure you're getting the right length for what you need.

thunderbolt cable allows for a fast communication between devices.

Always need spare cables and it is good to know it is an Apple product, so it will work with no problems. Wanted the longer, but too pricey. This is plenty long enough for my needs. the extra length was overkill.

This cord was great. It was white in the packaging and has remained white outside the packaging. Also - it plugged into my mac devices and was able to charge them when plugged into the appropriate plug device. A++++++

As the summary says, it's a Thunderbolt cable. If you use or want to use Thunderbolt peripherals with older Macs/PCs you'll need this. There may be cheaper cables out there (but really not by much) but I choose the Apple branded because I feel they're more trustworthy. They always have been. Note this cable is only a foot and a half. I found this useful since the peripherals I'm using sit not that far away and cuts down on cable clutter. This cable is Thunderbolt 1 and 2 compatible, NOT Thunderbolt 3 (or USB-C). Connecting a Thunderbolt dock to an older MacBook will add USB 3 connectivity (and near USB 3 speeds). These docks cost more than newer Thunderbolt 3 offerings but it's a way to get more out of an aging Mac. These cables are perfect for such a set up. My advice is to consider a new MacBook but if you want to pay less now then this cable and older Thunderbolt peripherals will give more life to your Mac.
