Prior to this one, I had an iPad Pro. The battery started to give me trouble (about 4-5 yrs old). I only use my iPad for email, web search and some streaming. I was concerned that going with a basic model might not do what I needed it to do, but there is no drop off in terms of performance as far as I can tell. I probably could have gone for an even less-expensive, less memory option. I guess that means that for my use, the original iPad Pro was overkill for what I use it for. This is a great option at a very reasonable price! Highly recommended!

Best iPad for Students

I went with Apple since I wanted to try the Apple Pencil as well. The screen is a nice size, not too small, feels large. The price is the reason I went with this one, and although cheaper it is great compared to the other iPads, I would have expected it to be of a lot less value for that reason but it has been great for school work so far. Really easy to use, and looks like it'll last me a while.

Poor practice from Best Buy

They have a price match guarantee. I found it for $100 less and they refused to match the price saying that they suspended that offer. It would have been great to know before I purchased. I would have shopped more. Before purchasing there. No one said a thing until I went back to get the price match

Older generation still works

Although an older generation, I am still able to use Logic Pro on for music recording - although I have already run into RAM issues after working on 6 or more virtual instrument tracks. Should still be great for sketching ideas with my guitar that I can transfer to my MacBook and everything else iPads are used for.

10.2 Inch iPad

When your house burns down...

But then my house was destroyed by fire. I was a nomad for a while, crashing with friends and in hotels. I bought the Ipad because it was so light and portable. It was the best purchase I made since the fire! I could manage all of the aftermath of the fire, read books, stay in touch with everyone and watch TV and films no matter where I landed. I bought a Logitech lighted keyboard (great) for writing and haven't used any other computer since. Honestly I was surprised. I thought an IPad was too small to be very useful. Boy was I wrong! It is also compatible with my IPhone which I linked up to when I was sitting in Starbucks surfing the web in search of a place to live. Don't wait for your house to burn down to get one. Be prepared! I'm still waiting to rebuild my little house but at least I can travel light!
