It’s a keeper

It had been 5 years since I purchased an iPad, and this is a definite upgrade, that is for sure. A whole new world.

Great Value Upgrade

She’s not technical savvy so she didn’t need the latest model, which was $100 more. And this was an excellent upgrade from what she had before. We even traded-in her old iPad to offset the cost of this purchase.

MacBook to iPad

She wanted to stick with Apple. After checking options she liked the idea of an iPad paired with a keyboard. Smaller than the MacBook and adds touch screen. So far so good

Good but not for me.

I bought the 256gb Pro for drawing and note taking and while the apple pen worked great with the device I had time trying to adapt to it. I didn't realize the limitations of an iPad which are minor inconveniences for some but a major disappointment for others. I'm use to having more control over my device and the iPad had more limits than I can stand. Major drawbacks - Unable to download files to my iPad from Google Drive (my main cloud service). Apple kept pushing their cloud service and Drop Box (not safe). Unable to access paid downloads for add-ons in my art program. Limited controls and style settings for the iPad. Unable to import fonts. Unable to do most of the things I do on my computer. Apple prefers I use safari but Google Chrome has all my stuff. Chrome is also lacking on the iPad. I tried Procreate but didn't enjoy it. I don't like the stabilizer controls from the app. For me that makes my line art more of burden. I'll stick to desktop programs like Clip Studio or FireAlpaca. I also tried using Notability and GoodNotes but didn't like it. The pen tools are very basic and again couldn't import my fonts so I was stuck with Apples font list. I'm also OCD so when my text aren't aligned with the paper I panic. Final thoughts: I felt the device was too expensive for my needs.
