    Upgraded from 2017 Pro

I upgraded from the 2017 10.5 inch iPad Pro which had poor battery life. This 12.9 inch 2018 model isn’t much larger physically but has a nice size screen and the battery life does appear much better. I use it as my main computer over a Windows 10 laptop. It is very fast and stable. My main complaint was the high price even after trading in the old unit. Also, Apple should have included a USB-C to Standard USB cable for connecting to a PC. I had to run out and buy one so I could restore my iTunes backup of the old iPad onto the new unit.

    New iPad Pro 12.9 Review

This is a great iPad. Smaller than the previous version but the same screen size. Beautiful display, charges quickly, and a decent battery life. It takes a little while for older iPad/iPhone users who were used to the home button to get used to gestures but you don’t miss it once you do. Face ID works well although it occasionally doesn’t register. It is quite expensive as tablets go (or as many computers go as well) but it is a great device if you can afford it. I am not convinced that it is a replacement yet for a laptop, especially with the lack of a file system on the iPad iOS, but it is getting closer. Haven’t yet bought the Apple Pencil or Smart Keyboard cover but you probably want to get these although they don’t come cheap. I like the new USB C connector but my only major complaint other than the price is that Apple didn’t provide us with a $9 dongle since they removed the headphone jack and of course, don’t provide wireless earphones.

Have had this tablet for a few weeks now. It is great I use it for my job every day. Having the large screen and being able to lay it flat is great for design and drawing. I also let my kids use several of the kids drawing apps and a few others. The tablet is very easy to use, my 4 year old easily navigates to the apps he uses. ONLY THING I DO NOT LIKE, IT IS WAY TO EASY TO ACCIDENTALLY MINIMIZE/ APPS. my 1 year old wants to touch the screen with her hands and almost always closes out of anything on the screen where she barely touches it and ever so slightly moves her hand. The operating system runs flawlessly. no problem having many apps running, as well as having 2 things opened side by side like web browser and file folder which I do when downloading new fonts. Battery is great and lasts me all days with many hours of use. Sometimes leaving screen on with brightness up with a image for referencing as well as several hours of using internet and drawing. Facial recognition works great for the most part even with dark. Cameras are great and takes quality pictures/ videos. I have used both the front and rear ones a lot.

The new tablet is a noticeable 49g lighter, 1mm thinner, 19.4mm shorter and 5.1mm narrower than its predecessor. At 631g and only 5.9mm in thickness the 12.9in iPad Pro is thinner and lighter than most of its productivity tablet competition, too. The 12.3in Microsoft Surface Pro weighs 770g and is 8.5mm thick, while Google’s 12.3in Pixel Slate is 726g and 7mm thick. The four speakers in the sides are loud and clear, putting most other tablets to shame. The industry-standard USB-C port replaces the old Lightning socket for power and connectivity. The new Apple Pencil magnetically attaches to and wirelessly charges from one side of the tablet, while the smart connector has been moved to the smooth aluminium back of the tablet.I still think it cost a little much for what it does Very beautiful

FIrst. I went with 256 because really, the cloud. Second. I returned an Air to this one and can’t be happier (though wallet took a hit). Why the difference? I need the pen to take notes, work on projects and the Air uses Apple Pencil 1 while this uses the Pencil 2. Charging is more problematic and likely, in my opinion, to break with the one. With the Pencil 2 there is also no cap which makes it better as well and “magically” attaches to the iPad and charges on the Pro. Second, the Air is still on the home button. Really? This is Face ID and perfect as I don’t have to relearn the home button. Battery life, working on various projects at work (I use this as a fourth monitor now) and it remains charged for 8 hours and still not hit 60%. Of course I am using it for searching the web, writing, so games/movies will be different. Why this over a computer? I have a Mac air and a MacBook Pro. The Mac air is my grab and go while my MacBook Pro is for hard core work (finance work and number crunching or running numerous programs like bloomberg professional , excel, etc). This allows me to import PDFs for work, take notes on the PDF etc like a note pad etc while also allowing me to then carry around all my core computer programs (bloomberg professional, log into work, etc). The Mac Air won’t allow this (writing as a tablet) so this is a perfect rounding out of my work tools. When considering to buy this or a computer, think of what your purpose is and buy accordingly.

My other iPad is the 1st gen 128gb. I only used it to surf the web and to watch Netflix, Amazon Video and Hulu. It worked flawlessly but I wanted to upgrade so I purchased the 256gb 3rd gen iPad Pro. Here are the pros and cons: 1) Lightwieght and thin 2) Gorgeous display 3) Face recognition (no home button) 4) Very good battery life Cons: 1) The Cost Conclusion: If you already own any other iPad Pro, and there’s nothing wrong with it, there’s no need to upgrade. It’s a lot of money to spend on something that does exactly the same thing. The upgraded specs are not that noticeable for normal use of watching video and checking emails surging web etc. If you are in the market for an upgrade, this is great, but if you already own a perfectly fine iPad Pro (even the 1st gen) its not worth dropping a grand unless you have money to throw around.

I upgraded from my old school gen 2 iPad. I wanted to wait until Face ID came out on iPads, which is why I didnt' upgrade sooner. I paired this with Apple's wireless keyboard, and I now use this as my daily laptop replacement, to view emails and surf the web. It's very portable, fast, and reliable. Don't regret this purchase even though it is not cheap.

This is my first ipad and I am glad I got it. It is much faster than my Dell computer and easy to use. The screen is perfect with brilliant colors. Great battery life . Much better than my Samsung 12in tablet. I would highly recommended this to anyone looking for a great tablet that is as good as a laptop.

Fantastic display, bright and sharp. It is light to hold despite its size resulting in reduced discomfort during long periods of media consumption. Battery life is good by itself but having the apple pencil constantly attached inexplicably diminishes it by up to 50% (how much can the power draw of tiny battery and a blue tooth receiver in a pencil shaped plastic tube actually be?). File management is still iOS file management. Now the raison d'etre of this device is definitely digital art and it excels at this with very good apps for photo editing, digital publishing, illustration (vector, raster, or otherwise), video editing, painting, sketching, drafting etc. It is no slouch for audio editing and music creation with several ipad pro optimized daw's along with dozens of synth, sampler, beat maker, etc, apps. For strict media consumption with no inclination for content creation it is an overpriced wonderful toy and by that i mean it's still the best tablet for that purpose and the screen's 1 to 1 size with a standard magazine page makes it the best e-magazine as well as a top notch ebook reader (losing out only to premium purpose built e-ink devices). That a12x soc is a beast for gaming as well. Its only remote competition is the surface pro and that is a different class of device (and more useful for general productivity)

I was hesitant on purchasing this particular iPad as I have an iPad Air 2 that still works perfectly fine. I was wanting to get a 12.9 Pro so I was looking at the 2nd gen with Touch ID because you can easily find one in great condition for half the price. I get not everyone can splurge on something like this so if you get a different iPad because of fiduciary deficiencies it’s all good. Anyway, my friend who has this model of the iPad Pro told me it was awesome and worth the money over the 2nd gen. I went into Best Buy a couple of times to use it and I still wasn’t sold and to top it off if I did go with the current gen i would have to choose between the 11 inch and 12.9 inch with a $170 price hike for the latter. I decided to buy it and if I didn’t like it I would return it. I backed up my iPad Air 2 and picked up the 12.9 iPad Pro from Best Buy. As a side note I was leaning toward the newer iPad because of using Face ID instead of Touch ID. I have the iPhone X and I love Face ID. I’ve had every iPhone from the beginning and the advances made to unlock the phone are quite nice but i digress. I restored my iPad Air 2 profile into the new iPad and about 30 minutes later I was ready to go after the apps downloaded. Now I’ve watched a ton of iPad videos and reviews. I don’t just buy something “tech “ without doing a fair amount of research especially when spending as much as these machines cost so I knew what I was getting myself into but it’s until the iPad was actually in my hands at my home with all of my settings in tact where I realized how awesome of a machine it is compared to the iPad Air 2. As I said earlier the iPad Air 2 works perfectly fine and I gave it to my daughter to replace her aging gen 1 iPad mini. In all honesty the iPad Pro makes the iPad Air 2 look like garbage. Now I know it’s not but there is literally no comparison. The speakers , screen , aesthetics , etc. are beyond what I could have imagined. After using it for a while it even makes my iPhone X seem like a piece of lesser tech and almost toy like. I used my iPad Air 2 a lot. I didn’t just have it in a drawer and used it sparingly; I used it daily. I’ve used this iPad Pro 12.9 daily since I had it and when my daughter has a question about her “new” iPad I think of how inferior it is. I’m not here to bash any iPad. I think they’re the best tablets ever and I’m not an Apple fanboy in any sense of the word but I do love iOS and Mac OS but I also have tons of experience with Android and Windows. I actually had a surface book 6 that I bought from Best Buy because I wanted a Windows tablet /pc (had a surface book 2 and missed the detachable ) and I just couldn’t like it and I returned it in 2 days and bought this iPad which is what I should have done in the first place. This iPad isn’t for everyone. Some might think it’s too big, too heavy, too expensive but for me it’s worth every penny. I imagine I’ll keep this for many years as I did my iPad Air 2 and with apples OS track record this iPad will get updates for many years. Should you upgrade from an iPad Air 2 like I did ? Absolutely if you can afford it and the same goes with windows and android tablets. This is the tablet to have if you’re into using a tablet daily. I would wholeheartedly recommend this iPad to anyone and everyone.

My first tablet has proven to be my go-to gadget for most of what I do-streaming, pdf’s, quick photo edits (lightroom), note-taking, ms office. Its lightweight portability compared to a laptop has been the reason why I would rather carry it around with me. Of course, there are some reasons why I’d rather use my mac like heavy photo edits. The need for a real monitor and keyboard also may be the other reason why I won’t use it. I do find that the type cover and the pencil are essential for what I do. The sound quality is also exceptional, and the screen resolution better than some laptops.

Everything about this product seems to be great the camera is nice the screen quality is nice and the size is perfect. Sometimes I contemplate whether I bought the wrong size or not, because I bring this almost everywhere and it is quite large, but when I am using the iPad Pro it really feels good. If I had a smaller screen I probably would not be too happy or satisfied. Since I’ve been using the iPad I found myself taking notes more often on it. It has been really useful with the new Apple Pencil I use it almost every time I come up with something or When I get a little creative. But sometimes I feel like the iPad Pro is lacking something maybe the fact that it’s an iOS device and I cannot fully use it at its maximum potential as if I am very limited to what I can do, maybe they’ll come up with something within the next update? This feels like it has a potential to be for creative users or people who like to document things and keep it on their device being practically paperless. If you do plan on buying this device hopefully you aren’t just using it for Netflix and YouTube or watch movies only because you can probably buy something cheaper if you were going to just do that. If this device was more capable of doing more things then I would probably be more happy and recommend this device.

Can’t find one thing I don’t like it about...I thought the screen was too big at first-it ended up being perfect..I thought I’d not like the feel of the Apple folio keyboard you can buy to go with it-ended up loving it too..it is lightweight and does everything I need and with the added keyboard it is more or less almost the same as a laptop in my opinion..I highly approve! It’s also super user-friendly...even more than the Mac laptop I had before..

I bought this for my wife and she loves it. The screen compared to other Ipad models is huge! However, after a little use, you get used to it and it becomes a non-issue. The Ipad is very powerful and can run many apps at once, more seamless than other models. The missing home button seems like a big deal, but this model's ease of use, makes you never miss it! Because this is the largest screen version, cases may be a little issue to find depending on where you live. Overall, a great Ipad and we are both very happy with our purchase. I highly recommend it!

I bought this iPad after trading in a 2015 MacBook Air. I had debated on getting a new MacBook Air or an iPad Pro 12.9. To be honest i was stuck, both seem to have their advantages and disadvantages. I found this iPad Pro 12.9 open box 256 GB for a little over 900 dollars and took the leap. I couldn’t be more pleased. I use it for everything i would use a MacBook for. Microsoft word actually works better on the mobile app and i use excel daily. The sound quality is amazing, and i love using the Apple Pencil. I draw sometimes but it is super good for taking notes on resumes as well. I love the responsiveness of the screen and Face ID, and the speed of the tablet no matter what two apps you are using at once is just phenomenal. I love Mac OS and did not think i would be able to use a mobile OS for all of my needs but it is exceeding my expectations. I did have to get the keyboard and pencil which did cost more, but they are both magnetic and connect automatically and can be taken off with such ease that they were totally worth it. I find myself doing all sorts of stuff i had never thought before. Only downside is you have to use Bluetooth headphones and a new USB C charger, but other than that no complaints. Get one.
