This is a good entry level Mac that still has a lot of power. It comes with many essential programs. You cannot beat the quality of a Mac and it's easy to use interface. The Mac App Store makes it easy to download and install new programs. It has a nice slim design and the monitor has a beautiful picture.

I was in the market to replace my mother's Mac mini. She perceives macs as expensive. I perceive switching my mom to windows as an expensive support nightmare. This Mac is the perfect solution: well-priced, good performance for the light user, a beautiful screen and dead simple to use. I recently bought a new PC for my lab. Windows 10 is better, but still full of ridiculous options that just confuse my dear mom. You can imagine her surprise when she saw the keyboard. No cable clutter. No tri-color keys with cryptic symbols. Just login. Start Safari. See email. See Facebook. Call son or daughter with facetime. Speakers are loud enough for the hard of hearing. It is the simple elegance that makes imacs a five star product for my mother.

I purchased this computer for my parents because it has a large monitor and is easy to move from room to room. They love the convenience of this mac compared to their old desktop, which took up a lot of space and had too many cords connected to it. Websites and applications load fast, the display has a crisp bright picture, and it is extremely easy to setup. We mostly use it for browsing the web, face timing, watching movies, storing pictures and videos. I would highly recommend it for everyday use.

My daughter and I have been sharing a relatively old Windows PC that ran okay, but not great. Too slow for both of us, but my daughter really did not like doing her homework on this machine. Since they use Apple products at her school, we got her this IMAC. She absolutely loves it and I was impressed by the easy set up. And, it works a thousand times better than a Windows PC!

I love this iMac. Screen even in the smallest size is incredible. I primarily did work between a MacBook Pro and a dell laptop. This was my first Apple desktop and I love it. I did add office for Mac as I need excel and word but other than that it was good to go out of the box. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an iMac or desktop and with the deal I got on Black Friday it was a great buy!!

Bought this computer about 2 months ago. What I like is the clear screen and very fast action. Have many pictures loaded that are set as screen saver. The family loves to see the clear , large pictures. For web use and e-mails this is the best computer I have ever had. Recently loaded Office and again the performance is superb. I would recommend this computer for anyone who can use a PC.

I was using old late 2009 iMac 21.5" 3.06GHz 4GB and it has recently been grumpy. I usually leave it on all time and started seeing it frozen when I get back from work and in a week even failing to boot. I brought it to Genius Bar at Apple Store but the guy there just ran one diagnostic program for less than 10 mins and diagnosed that logic board has to be replaced. He said more than 5 year old Mac is considered as legacy product thus it costs $600 to replace logic board, he was suggesting me to buy a new one instead. While I was bearing with the old iMac (I bought additional 2x4GB memories and could still use by Safe boot and limit up to 3 apps open at a time), I saw an ad for this $200 off on Black Friday sale, I thought it was a go to take it.
The new iMac screen is a little blue-colored, image is crisp but not too shiny. I guess it helps me from eye sore. I do not know how much better in Retina display but $400 difference will persuaded me to stay at this lowest model. As long as I stay on my daily use (web browsing including some Youtube and Vimeo, checking Gmail and do some Word/Excel brought from work, this desktop computer does the job well and I like the quality of display. I believe new one has less power consumption but instead opening app resuming right after sleep is slow and even slower to open Safari than the 2009 I have (guessing difference in HDD rpm may also affect). Converting TV program recorded by Eye TV for iTunes library in Toast 12 is taking almost the same time. Why I am comparing the time between 2 iMacs is because the old man revived! I thought I should wipe the HDD completely before dumping it. I didn't do anything in particular but I just had a second thought to try installing El Capitan for the last shot. Fresh installation finished smoothly and the machine works as if nothing happened a month ago.
Please do not take me wrong. the new iMac is decent countable product and I suppose it would last for another several years comfortably. I guess I was just expecting it more than I should. It is my personal impression but even with a few generation update of processor is not giving a visible difference to light user like me. I think I should have waited to buy a new one till the old one completely dies.

This is my second IMac and I am just as pleased with it as my first. I am a published writer and rely on consistent computer performance. Larger screen, easy setup, and speedy response are necessities for me that the iMac provides. I would highly recommend this computer for a multitude of uses.

I upgraded from a 13" screen connected to my laptop to this 21.5 iMac; what a difference. It looks great; it works great. The footprint of my iMac is wonderful. It takes less room than my old monitor alone. The screen is clear. The computer was super easy to setup and use (like most Apple products). I used buy online pickup in store. The whole process was easy and fast. If you need a good, reliable, easy to use computer for email, surfing the web, and general use, look no further.

I love the thin screen and no tower that requirers less space. As a first time Apple user I found it easy to follow the steps for set up, then a quick call to the Apple Care line for additional help when I needed it.

Bought this iMac for my wife so she could begin working from home. Size and processor speed is perfect for what she'll be doing. Will definitely continue to buy Apple products because of this purchase. Great value for the money.

I purchased this iMac to replace my previous one that I bought in '07. The old one was working fine, but it was quickly becoming obsolete because the newer OS aren't compatible and it had a much smaller hard drive. So far it has worked as expected, faster processing and great resolution on the display. Having Siri on the computer makes it much easier to navigate through options and the commands are intuitive. I haven't used too much, so that is all I have for now. Great performance overall.

This is my first Apple computer, however I do own other apple products. I have always been a windows person, but I needed to make a change and drift from the ordinary to the extraordinary. This system is so good, it blows any high end pc out of the water. Normally as a pc gets used and builds up files, the system starts to drag and it becomes slow as time goes on. This Apple computer is the total opposite. It does not slow down. Does not drag. It keeps going at the fast speed as when it was just purchased. The screen is big and beautiful. Good resolution. The mouse and keyboard are phenomenal! The way the mouse adjust to your movement and how you are able to swipe left, right, up down without a track ball is amazing! The keyboard is very sensitive and has a quick response. The only drawback I have on the keyboard is that it does not have any levelers on the back to tilt it. Overall, super AWESOME product. You will NOT be disappointed!

I'm so happy with my new iMac. This computer was purchased as a replacement for a 2009 model -- also entry-level -- and has already exceeded my expectations. It's a great computer for the casual user.

In general I like my iMac very much. It is fast and the screen is dazzling. My two caveats may be the result of my lack of knowledge about the Mac and OS. First, I managed somehow to trash my password so that I was locked out. A call to Applecare first did not help. My problem was escalated to a senior associate, who solved one problem. But then a second problem emerged when I restarted the system, apparently caused by the "solution"to the password problem. It took a second senior associate 20 minutes to walk me through ending a series of endless loop lockouts (he commented as a user I should not be seeing what was on my screen -- info reserved for system programmers). Anyway, my problem was eventually solved. I've had the computer for 2 weeks now without any more problems. Since I have an iPhone and iPad things are going smoother now than they were with my trusty old PC. I'll know better in a year if I'm truly a happy convert to the Mac.

I grabbed this IMAC on black Friday at a great discount! I had planned to purchase the 4K retina display, but for the black Friday low price, I couldn't pass this deal up! I was worried about the speed of it, but all-in-all, I'm very pleased with this base model IMAC. It is a 1.6, but when needed, this computer will deliver turbo boost of 2.6, so this made it do-able for me. Even though this is not the retina display, the display quality on this model is still quite good. I have to say that I was disappointed that Apple doesn't include the CD/DVD drive with these machines. This is the reason for the 4 stars. Apple makes great products. I'll only buy Mac going forward. No more windows based PC's that get riddled with viruses despite anti-virus software for me!!
