This computer is one of the best that I have owned. Apple does not disappoint with the build quality. The computer is very easy to use and it is also very fast. It is perfect for college students who use it for everyday tasks such as joining Zoom calls, writing papers, and navigating the internet. The best part of the device is the beautiful 4K resolution retina screen.

    Unsure of Geek Squads Abilities...

To start I really like this iMac... Best Buy didn't have one in stock so they shipped it to me... After having it for about 3 weeks and getting used to the new machine, I noticed a black 'dot' or bad pixel about half an inch into the actual view area. It goes back to Best Buy tomorrow, Nov. 4 2020. I've read some not 'so good things' about Geek Squad so I'm a bit concerned about their abilities to fix this brand new iMac without prejudice.

    open box actually means used?

I Made an online purchase for a deal on an iMac when paying it tells me there’s only one left and it’s “open box” but it’s “ certified “ so I think that means it’s pretty much new right! I was wrong, When it shows up it’s in a dirty beat up box and when I open it, it was visibly a used pre owned iMac.

This iMac is my recent purchase after 14 year old MacBook dying a slow death - its super fast, sleek, super big screen which I must get used to after using a laptop, luv it! Fits perfectly on my home office desk set up with not an inch to spare. Paid full non sale price, oh well, okay its worth it!

    Baby, I'm Amazed.

I'm an Apple loyalist. Kinda. I've always found it difficult to give up my Windows computer attachment. I grew up and I started my career as a grant writer on a Windows platform. So, it always made sense to not abandon ship for Apple, although I had done so with every other electronic device in my life. August 2021: It was time for a new desktop. I was feeling gutsy with a renewed sense of sprit after all that I'd been through (together with the rest of the world) and felt like I should take a leap for what I've always wanted in spite of apprehension. So, I did it! I bought my FIRST EVER Apple iMac. I knew from the get that I didn't want the best that Apple had to offer. Let's remember, I'd be weening from a different OS--Baby steps. I spend quite some time comparing various iMacs Best Buy had to offer. I settle on this model for several reasons: the price, the reviews, and the specs. In that order. There were really only two contenders that I had to choose from before having to move up to something more expensive: This model, which is a core i5 and the core i3 model. They are the same in every other respect. The price was the same, but since this is a more expensive machine, the savings was higher ($500 vs. $300), so it wasn't a hard decision to make. However, the reviewers of the core i3 were also very happy with their purchase. 30 days later, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I have to admit that the learning curve has been a little longer than I anticipated, but I'm actually enjoying the process of learning an operating system that I will be using forevermore. The way my phone, iPad, and iMac interact with each other is PHENOMENAL. What intelligent little pieces of heaven these devices are and their intuition is incredible. One of my favorite feature is the SIDECAR--being able to use my iPad as a second monitor is great. iMac come with so many little features--making it impossible to list everything. I hope this has helped anyone who might be apprehensive about trading in their Windows OS for an iMac. For me, it's the best decision I've made.

Very impressive system. Yes, it is more expensive than a typical windows system, but it is a complete package as it comes with preinstalled applications for productivity, photo editing, a great keyboard and mouse. I am a long time Windows user who was reluctant to make the switch as my few previous interactions were brief and confusing. But Apple makes available through the Books ap an excellent quide that will have you up and running in no time. Beautiful graphics, more than adequate speed. This machine is a winner

Walked in Best Buy. Told salesman we wanted a new Apple desktop to replace our slow 12 year-old desktop. He went to storage area & came back with a box. Said all was included. We had no store model to view. It was easy to unbox. Beautiful color & speed. Had Geek Squad to set up & transfer data.

    Get it while it's HOT

I recently bought the new 24 inch iMac M1 for my main computer and was going to recycle the late 2012 iMac 21.5 it replaces until I decided that perhaps the 21.5 inch would be a good second machine for the bedroom. It still ran very well but could only upgrade to iOS 10. All of a sudden I thought "I wonder if a new late model Intel based iMac is still available? I tried eBay, Sweetwater, B&H Photo, Amazon...nothing available unless it was used or refurbished. I then sent on Bestbuy.com to see but wasn't optimistic after all of the "dead ends." Lo and BEHOLD!! There was THIS late 2019 iMac!! It was ON SALE for $999. Could it be true?? YES! The deciding factor was the display is Retina 4K. OMG! I am a display freak and don't like pixels. I hit ORDER NOW and picked it up a couple hours later at my local Best Buy. GRAB THIS THING WHILE YOU CAN!!! It will make a great secondary iMac or if you don't do a lot of power-play on your computer, a great primary computer. Granted it's only got 8GB RAM but my old iMac 21.5 also had just 8GB RAM and I never had a problem. I still cannot believe these are available new. THANK YOU BEST BUY. This model really DID retail for $1499 new. It's not fake news. This is BY FAR the BEST BUY I've ever made at BEST BUY. One more thing, the Intel Core i7 is my sweet spot with computers but this one's i5 so far is very snappy and very useable. SERIOUSLY, if you want an all-in-one desktop computer with 4K display for the price of an entry level MacBook Air....$999....this is a STEAL. Best Buy ROCKS. PS: If you don't grab this now while it's still new and available, you'll kick yourself. Don't say I didn't warn you.

A Great iMac For What It Is, Soon To Be Extinct!

I purchased this iMac for my wife. It's her first experience with an iMac since she's only used Windows based PC's before. After giving her an hour or so lesson on the operation of MacOS I turned her loose and let her learn one the fly. This particular model is near the bottom rung of the Intel based iMacs. So set your expectations accordingly. You can't replace to upgrade the RAM or SSD unless you really want to preform what is akin to brain surgery on this iMac. It does just about everything you need to do well. If my wife didn't need that one piece pf software the runs on Windows and has no MacOS equivalent I would have gotten her the M1 iMac. That being said you can run Bootcamp on this (I run it from an external drive. There are many videos explaining how to do this.), It does run the native Apple apps well. We run the Microsoft Office suite and Quicken on it and it works great. So if you can get one on sale and need it for home or student use it a good investment.

Initial Review: Good Machine So Far

    |
    Posted .

Purchased to replace an old Windows machine that my wife uses mainly for finances. Initial impression after one day: It's a good machine so far and great screen. The upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey 12.0.1 took less than an hour. The biggest drawback is a RAM upgrade requires the machine to be disassembled. With the 250GB SSD though, it performs very well with the stock 8GB of RAM. Should be fine for my wife for the time being for web, email, finances, WP etc. Installed Apache Open Office, and performance with that program is fine. I expect do it to drag a bit when I install Gimp and maybe another photo app. Didn't intend it for that use though. It was on sale and cheaper than the new base 24" M-1 iMacs that have only 2 lightning ports and hardwired RAM. This one's got 4 USB, 2 lightning and a card reader. Question about how long Apple will support the Intel iMacs. Should be at least 2-4 years. They're still making and selling the Intel 27" models so there's that. I did notice downloading software that some developers have separate DMG files for Intel and Apple M-1 silicone. That's interesting. Another good thing is Best Buy's holiday return policy is until January 16 if the machine goes south. So, so far so good, and on sale why get another similarly priced Windows machine for my wife?

There are many things to like about the new M1 iMacs but just as many to be disappointed in. Case in point is that the entry level model which is still un-upgradeable but only has 2 USB4/Thunderbolt 4 ports both of which require USB-C cables or adapters. This Intel iMac has 2 Thunderbolt 3/USB3/USB-C ports and 4 standard USB ports and an Ethernet port and an SD memory card slot. If you only use WiFi and all your other peripherals are wireless then that is less of a problem. But if you have a USB backup hard drive or use USB flash drives, you will need adapters at $15~80 a pop. The other noticeable difference is that you may still find apps that don’t run on Apple silicon but run just fine on the older Intel iMac. Given the choice, I went with the classic Intel iMac, even knowing the future wil be with Apple Silicon. Chances are that by the time you can read this, the 21.5” i5 iMac will be sold out, but it is worth considering while still available.

    Apple 21.5" iMac

I actually got this iMAC for my wife's usage after not being able to put up with her annoyances with her PC desktop. Her desktop wasn't the issue-it was all the BS of dealing with Microsoft and their continuous updates and changes. This iMAC has a detailed picture and Apple operating system including the latest Apple developments in software. Streaming video is faultless (with a good internet of course) and FaceTime video is great for conferencing for business or pleasure.

    Apple - 21.5" iMac® with Retina 4K display (Late

First let it be said that I loved my 24" iMac, early 2009. I was not able to replace it and the smaller screen better fitted my needs in retirement. The 21.5" screen is incredibly clear and defined with even color and crispness on the entire screen surface in movie mode. I am still getting used to the changes of programs that I had access to on my old iMac but as time wears on I learn what allows me to use the new machine to do what I want to see. My 24" unit went 11 years without ever powering down unless I was moving or purging a security issue. If this unit goes half that time I will be proud. I was very happy with best buy's sales unit and delivery process. Money well spent for me so far. I only wish the machine came with an instruction manual.

    Solid all-in-one choice

This was a gift to my aging in-laws who were having all kinds of issues with an older HP desktop. Apple OS is perfect for this demographic. The iMac integrates perfectly with their iPhone and iPad, it was extremely easy for them to use having experience with the same icons and apps they are accustom to, and no more accidentally installing malicious software from web pop-ups like on the PC.
