Okay, my first Mac, so some transition/learning curve from a PC but getting it figured out. Fantastic display; slick and quick setup. The combined mail app is great (I have 4 accounts, now all in one place). Very fast. I will suggest caution with the Apple Migration Assistant; not everything moves over from the PC in the folders or format you'd expect (e.g, none of my pictures folders came over in folders; same with documents)--best course of action is to copy all files to an external drive, then select and manage via Finder.

This iMac 5k is extremely fast. Starts up fast and can use it almost right when it powers up. I used to own nothing but Windows PC's, after buying this I won't look back. Going to upgrade the memory to 32GB, not because it needs it, but because I can! Love it so much I may buy another one for my office.

I replaced my 2008 iMac with this one. Actually, the speed was better, but not what I was expecting and so I replaced the 4gb ram it came with with 32gb ram and it is now smoking. Always been a mac person and like how the computer just works and the software is fairly seamless and intuitive. Love the magic mouse and multiple gesture control as well.

I bought this because I work from home and needed a large screen instead of having to buy two screens...it really is a great computer! The visibility and speed are amazing!! The size of the screen makes it a lot easier to have multiple windows open at once - which I need all the time. I would highly recommend this MAC!

The moment after setting up and seeing the desktop for the first time, I literally forgot to breathe for about 5 seconds. That says something about how amazing this display is. Even though we've all seen retina displays before on the phones and computers, this is simply not on the same scale: being about to see some many pixels on one panel. I used to be a PC supremacist, talking specs here specs there. But if we compare a regular PC all in one to the iMac with retina display, you simply can't compare the color correctness, the contrast (How black the black is, how white the white is), the pixel density. And being the first commercially available 5k panel, it's worth it to get the display for 2499, let alone they decide to throw in a powerful computer in there as well. Believe me when I said there is nothing else like this, because there really isn't anything like this out there.

Overall, this is a wonderful computer and the buying experience was good as well. I am a "mac person," yes, but I use a PC at work so I'm not completely Mac biased. This computer is fast, easy to use and the graphics are stunning, as you might expect. Is it pricey? Yes, but if you're willing to pay the price (investigate BB's financing options), it is great.

This Computer screen is amazing! It is the largest screen I have ever owned for a computer. I was intimidated at first by the Macintosh, having only ran the other kind, but I am learning and most of the functions are very intuitive and user friendly. this is the latest and greatest Mac offered. I thought this would be the way to go to slow the obsolescence factor down a bit. I think I made a great choice. Highly recommended.

This is a great machine and with the lower price it is now at a great price. I purchased this for my parents and they love it. I've read that some people was seeing graphic slowdown/choppy graphics. I haven't seen that and assume it was corrected in an update before I purchased this unit. My only issue was the 8GB ram, I feel that is a little low for this unit. Wasn't a big deal as I bought more with my purchase and installed it myself in no time.

I have always been a PC person and I thought learning how to use a Mac would be difficult but I learned how to use the computer very quickly. This computer is really easy on the eyes as well. I would say the only con with this purchase is that the disk drive has to be purchased separately. I feel that with cost of this product, the disk drive should be included.

Avid Apple user and wanted this desktop for kids school and my work. The screen is unmatched. The 5K resolution is beautiful. Speed is phenomenal. And bought while on sale - $300 off - a rarity with Apple! Still high priced. Would like to see touch screen capability.

I have been an iMac owner since 2009 and I have been so happy with it that when my daughter needed her own computer I decided to give her my old iMac and purchase a new one. I feel much more comfortable with the iMac user interface than I do with a PC. The graphics are beautiful and the speed is terrific! I was dismayed to discover that I had to buy a separate CD/DVD drive since the new iMacs are too thin to accommodate the housing for the hardware. Fortunately the price of the CD/DVD drive was reasonable and very easy to install (just a USB cord that plugs into the back of the iMac). Overall I am very pleased with my new iMac.

Compare to other desktop, it's bit pricy. But when I open the box, I love the crystal clear screen and invisible box. Giving 4 points because some sporadic network connection issue. Situation gets improved after downloading latest version. It is fairly easy to add another 16G memory I bought from crucial.com. Now I have 24G. Happy about that.

This is the best computer I have ever owned. I was worried that the Fusion hard drive would not come close in speed to my MacBook Air (which of course, is completely solid state flash) but boot up speed for turning on and also opening any programs blows my Air outta town! Recommend getting this over any other iMac because of speed alone. Screen is phenomenal but we all know resolutions are always getting better and in one year I'm sure I'll want the 5 "million-k" haha but whats's under the hood is what really matters!

I use the iMac to design games programming in Unity3d and C# on Mac and PC. I am running Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate under Parallels 10.0 to do my work. The screen is nothing short of spectacular. Parallels performance with the hybrid 1GB drive is comparable to that of 2014 Retina MacBook Pro with the 500GB SSD. I have been using and programing Macs and PCs since 1984 and this is the best Mac experience ever. When compared with 2014 Retina MacBook with attached 28 inch 4K Dell screen, I still prefer working on iMac.

Purchased the 27-inch retina display iMac a few weeks ago. This is my second iMac and I am most impressed with this machine. Apple has done an excellent job in the design and execution of the computer hardware and the operating system, which in my estimate is superior to windows. The machine processes all information lightning fast, boots up within 15 seconds and is trouble free. The retina display is outstanding. One of the main things I like about Apple products is that they simply work and do so without the problems normally experienced in windows operating systems. The only drawback is that once you view the retina display, looking at your other computer monitors might prove to be a depressing experience.

Excellent Product but don't expect a PC

Mac products are excellent and integrate well. I brought an iPad after fretting for over a year and once I bought it, it seemed to do about 90% of what a laptop would do but not the same as having a desk top. I bought the desk top apple computer after my desk top PC started to run lines in the screen. Well, I was already somewhat familiar with the workings of the desk top, but I still had quite a ways to go to get use to the desk top version and be comfortable with this product. A few things I miss are the right click, a CD/DVD insert, easy access to the USB port and access to my printer. I can see where Apple is going by not going with these features. It is forcing me to think more wireless integration and depend on the internet for software downloads and access. So I am okay with being retrained to embrace the thought process since I already am one of those people that shops and banks online. As the bank manager once said, you are one of those people that strictly uses online banking, except of course when I had to go into the bank for one of those few things that I couldn't do online. Since I was converting over to the Mac but still need my business side depending on Windows, I had the windows app downloaded to my Mac. It does not feel 100% comfortable running windows on a Mac but it works. I did excel spreadsheets on my PC which you can run a spreadsheet on a Mac but without a right click a few process are a little longer. Working without a CD/DVD is circumvented by buying a CD/DVD player, but I am realizing that technology is being replaced by downloading software from internet websites so we will probably see the CD and DVD go the way of the cassette player. Also, thumb drives can easily replace that medium and currently this computer has USB ports. I wonder how long movies are going to be made on DVDs. And CDs have a similar story. So considering this, I am not sure this is a negative to have apple without a CD/DVD player. Of course, this is from a guy who has cleaned out a lot of DVDs and CDs recently and donated them to charity. Did I mention, I already have digital copies of all those old CDs. I have been shopping on iTunes for music for the last several years so having the apple desk top has made that integration of digital copies somewhat seamless. And since apple keeps my records of songs it automatically downloads those songs to a new apple producst. I now buy DVDs with digital copies so that is where I am restarting my movies. It is nice because, I can access movies so much faster. I know it is in digital form on my computer with associated back up. It sure beats keeping a stock pile of DVDs. And guess what when I have company they can also easily access my movies along with the cable and netflix. Oh did i mention I have apple TV, so it is all integrated and so much easier to integrate than the PC ever was. The integration of my desk top as the workhorse has made the whole experience much less labor intensive. Sort of scary to have every thing integrated. When I save a password in my IPad while I am away, it immediately updates to my desktop when I get home. And when I plan something on my IPad, it also saves on my desk top. Oh did I mention that when my friends text me on my iPad when I am working on my desktop, I can respond on my desk top. The integration is so convenient and smart. So lifestyle wise I think it really has made my life practically painless to go from my desktop to my labtop back to my iPad. It all works together well. I travel for work sometimes so it just nice to have that level of integration. The pain of retraining has been worth it with this apple product.

This is my first iMac and the first Apple desktop computer bought in ten years. My last was a PowerMac G5 and it was a beast too, but it was huge, hot, and noisy. In comparison, this iMac is beautiful, quiet, and powerful. I process digital captures in raw format shot with a Nikon D800E and other cameras. These are large files. They don't load instantaneously, but they load quickly and are stunning on the 5K display. I recommend upgrading the RAM immediately because image processing uses up RAM. I also use this computer in my business for the usual applications. It's fast and responsive and the screen is large enough for my old eyes. Highly recommended.
