Overall performance: I bought the late 2017 iMac after trying the previous model (mid 2015) for video editing. The 2015 iMac would randomly freeze up and restart when I either had Parallels and several other things running or when I was editing video with Camtasia. I exchanged it for the 2017 model with it’s more powerful video card and improved processor and the problem completely disappeared. I've had it about a month and it hasn’t frozen once. I can have Camtasia, Final Cut Pro X and Parallels all open together, and it runs like a Swiss watch. I upgraded the memory to 24GB (using third party memory). With that upgrade, I have yet to notice any lag no matter what I have running. I don’t do gaming, so this review is based solely on video editing, database work, and MS Office. Fusion Drive: Another difference between this and my 2015 model is the Fusion drive. The 2015 model, without a Fusion drive, required over 6 hours to set up from a Time Machine backup. (I went to bed before it finished.) The 2017 iMac finished in a little under 90 minutes from the same backup. Brighter Screen: The reviews all say that you can’t see much of a difference with the brighter screen of the newer model, but I noticed it as soon as I turned it on. I wouldn’t upgrade only for the new screen, but you will see some difference if you are upgrading from an older iMac. Memory Upgrade: If you are going to do more than basic office tasks, it is worth getting the 27” model over the 21” for the user upgradeable memory alone. Third party memory works fine and is much less expensive than Apple’s. Installing the memory yourself won’t void the warranty as long as you don’t damage the machine in the process (I called Apple just to make sure). Conclusion: I’ve owned a lot of computers over the years, mostly Windows laptops. Nothing I’ve ever used holds a candle to this. Apple got it right with this one.

This model is from June 2017 and Apple just updated the processors in their iMac line. I would purchase the newer models and consider getting a SSD drive instead of the "Fusion" drive. It was a good computer when first released.

I’m not the biggest fan of this computer! I bought it to edit pictures and I mean if your spending so much money on a computer you would think it cane with great editing! But it’s really basic. Wish it had more

not sure of reason, but when i touch the bottom of screen, the whole system shuts down. have tried researching, but so far have not found a fix

I am disappointed in this Apple as it is the slowest and most sluggish Mac computer I have had for several years. I don’t recommend it!

We owned the first computer for about 27 hours and my son was doing work when the screen turned white and that was the end of this computer. We took it back to the store and the Geek Squad couldnt get it to move off the white screen either. They promised us that they would clear out all our information once they fixed it. So, we recieved a second computer.....not good again. We owned the second computer and within 2 hours of use, the screen froze and we manually restarted the computer which took an extreme amount of time to reboot. We just took it back and got our money returned. We read other reviews and saw that many people had the same issues. Really...two computers that were crap in less than 36 hours. Not worth your time or money

wasn't aware that i purchased a 2017 machine, truly thought it was a new machine.

This is truly a good upgrade for anybody who has barely known anything about computers

Great graphics; not so great operating system in comparison to Windows

Very hard to go from windows to iMac . Hard to learn and just not user friendly. Wish We had not purchased this Mac.

I was very disappointed with my purchase because I was mislead in believing I was purchasing a 2019 iMac and upon checking it turned out to be a 2017. No happy at all. And I don't think I would recommend anyone. Would of been nice if it had come with a cd/dvd driver.

'New' computer was actually from 2017! I returned it and bought it from Apple so that I got the latest version. I would rather have bought it from BB, but didn't want a computer that was 3 years old right out of the box!

Bought a new Mac computer worst mistake ever made. Geek squad is useless and programs are terrible. I hate this computer.

Awesome product. I've owned for several years and it's been a joy every step of the journey. Beautiful screen resolution, super responsive and easy to use.

I love our new iMAC have owned for already 5 years sold our old one and bought this to be sufficent with our shirt and 3d printers.

I love this Imac. use it every day. The thing i dont like is take it forever to turn on to the lock screen

I purchased the “lastest model” last July brand new, because my 27” mac 2014 harddrive crashed. Just paid off this 3,000 paper weight. The day after I paid it off the black screen came up took it to Apple to repair it now I’m going in every week for different issues. I don’t run the computer hard have no games on there and it just crashes Apple said it was a motherboard issue. Very frustrating I want a new computer!!! This will be my last Apple.
