    Mac OS The Best

I've been working on a Mac computer since the late 1980s, but I never wanted one for home. I always had a Windows computer because that's what the kids wanted, etc. I can't stand the Windows operating system and haven't liked it since Windows XP. How many updates do you really need to suffer through on a daily basis? So the main reason I purchased this iMac was for the operating system and my familiarity with it. When I got it home, I realized there was so much more to love about it. I bought the extended keyboard and quickly realized it was unnecessary. The bluetooth mouse and keyboard that come with the iMac are first rate. And no batteries are required. Ever. The screen is beautiful. It's hard not to just sit back and admire it. So sharp and clear. And it runs at blazing speed that is unequaled by a Windows computer. If you have an iPhone like I do, you'll love the integration that this iMac can have with your iPhone. Sometimes I forget that I've silenced my iPhone and I miss phone calls. Not to worry. My iMac will prompt me when I have a phone call. Same with text messages and emails. And using the iMac to send text messages while you're doing work or web-browsing on the internet is a real joy. So much easier to type on the iMac than on my iPhone. The only negative thing I can say about the iMac is its limitation to certain programs/applications. Not all will run on the Mac OS. You can partition the iMac hard drive and install Windows 10 if you wish. You can toggle back and forth from Mac Sierra OS to Windows 10, but I'm at the point where I'm washing my hands of Windows, so I'm going to keep the iMac at the Mac OS only. But you will have versatility if you don't want to abandon Windows completely by purchasing the iMac. You can still hold on to your million Windows updates per day if that's what turns you on. All kidding aside, a great purchase. I preferred the better processor and larger screen for my iMac. I would suggest to you that the extra two or three hundred bucks is worth it. I have an older 27 inch iMac at work that's closing in on 10 years old. I expect my personal iMac at home to last longer than that. And it will. So why save a few hundred bucks by skimping a little on the processor and screen size? Get it. It's worth it.

I've worked on PC's my whole life but always coveted the sleekly designed MACs. I'm very happy with my decision. The screen is huge and the resolution killer. I love the simplicity of the MAC and it's really fast.

When Apple introduced the iMac with Retina 5K in Late 2014, it was groundbreaking and it stood alone as the most impressive desktop computer in the world. A year has passed since then, and it still stands alone. When it came out, a lot of people felt it was too expensive, but as it stands a year later high quality 4K monitors still cost between $1000 and $2000 or more, just for the monitor. For example, Dell's 5K monitor is $1600 by itself. Dell Ultra HD 5K Monitor UP2715K 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor. This means that if you bought a Dell tower PC with similar specifications, it would cost far more than the 5K iMac, and it would be stuck running Windows. The price of 4K monitors are finally dropping, but 5K has 67% more pixels and when it comes to editing photos and videos, that extra space is a welcome luxury. We're talking about a screen that can show a 14.7 Megapixel photo, without zooming. That's simply amazing. The other thing to keep in mind is that because the 5K monitor is built-in, it has direct access to the graphics hardware. Using a cable creates a bottleneck because HDMI specs weren't designed with that kind of resolution in mind. Another benefit of the built-in display is that you know that it will work. If you bought a 5K monitor and tried to plug it into any old PC, you're going to need an expensive graphics card and a good CPU to keep up with it. I can edit and playback 4K video just as seamless as 1080. That's pretty amazing.

This was purchased to replace an ailing PC that was a lemon out of the gate. I was tired of Microsoft's stranglehold and decided to make the change to Mac. I was hesitant due to Apple's large prices, but I have found that it is justified. I bought this open box from Best Buy and the iLife apps were not loaded. Best Buy gave me a refund in the price of the apps to my satisfaction. A little bit of a learning curve from PC to Mac but it is a smooth transition. Would recommend. P.S. the 5K display is OUTSTANDING!

The new iMacs are great, always work, no problems, and the R9 M380 is great at gaming. Just install Windows on bootcamp (a new partition maker) and play any game you want at 1080p 60FPS. OS X El Capitan is pretty bland of a look, but how easy it is to work is quite easy. iLife has returned in this finally after iLife left Lion to Mavericks, I just never got it with them. All the apps are great and you can organize months and days and times and maps, and iTunes for all music easy to find, iMovie to make easy but great looking videos, Safari really is the fastest web browser. It's just great and it really just works.

To start using iMac with this model has felt like jumping into a luxury sports car as my first car. It's beautiful display is breathtaking. It performs better in life than one can appreciate from what people tell you. It is like graduating to another dimension of computer world. I do have a learning curve since I have been a pc user, but the customer support is fantastic. The integration is seamless with support and they can activate screen sharing with a one button click by popping up an icon. It has been a pleasure to come over to the "Mac" side of the house.

I have been using a relatively old Windows PC. After getting an iPhone several years ago, I starting taking a look at all Apple products. I really liked the IMAC but wasn't sure about the all in one design. With a Windows PC, if one thing stops working, you can repair or replace it. Not sure I can take the IMAC apart like I have done with Windows machines. However, over the last few years, friends have bought IMACS and all had great experiences, so I decided that my next PC would be from Apple. Thanks to a great price at Best Buy I finally took the plunge and I am so glad I did. Easiest set up ever, no useless trial programs to remove. Just plug it in and you are up and running. I also bought the 21.5 inch version for my daughter. I have an old HP printer that has wireless capability, but it is so old I didn't think the IMACS would work with it, but no problem at all. Apple products are really impressive. Unlike a windows PC, everything works well right out of the box. Although the products are somewhat expensive, I think the ease of use make up for the price!

I made the switch to iMac from Windows after getting the blue screen of death on my PC. I LOVE the ease of the iMac - within 30 minutes of opening the box I was back to work. The entire experience was easy and, unlike setting up a PC, there were no problems and required no profanity. The screen is awesome. I had previously used 2 screens with my PC - don't need that anymore! Best thing is that my phone, iPad and desktop are perfectly synced making the user experience better on each device.

Moved from a previous MAC to this new version since the old one was starting to slow down. Speed picked up immensely and the graphics are far and away the best out there. Everything on this new machine is incredible, especially moving files over from the old computer. Only negative I will mention is that nowhere in the product description did it indicate that Apple removed the DVD-rom drive and a separate add-on needed to be purchased in order to run these or CD's.

Great clarity with the retina display and much lighter than my previous one. I was also able to upgrade the ram to the max 32gb on my own which was nice. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the lack of CD/DVD drive. I didn't do my homework when replacing my mid 2010 27" iMac with this new one. If I had, I wouldn't have been as shocked to find no optical drive on it. Oh well. All in all, a solid purchase!

Great machine, have an older imac, a 2012, the new one is just awesome. I wasn't expecting it to be better then the imac 2012 by much but it is. The 4k is beautiful to view images, movies on. The sound is awesome, they must have improved the audio all around. Speed is great, overall a very nice machine and very happy with the upgrade.

I am a all around Apple User. Typical Mac but beautiful when it comes to the screen. Thought it would be to big for me but when I started doing my homework for an online class with an online textbook, I am able to use multiple screens at once. I found myself exploring photo applications and creating photo books. I thought I'd never own a desktop again but it can become very useful at times. I really enjoyed to the screen aspect of it. As far as the speed and everything else. It's fast for the moment like usual.

I think I would put this as 3.5 stars. While I am quite in love with the iMac, I have found some things that could be done better - of which only one issue is insurmountable. I bought the iMac after extensive research. It replaced my much beloved and over-used Dell XPS 9300 that I have had for 9 years (I bought the iMac and iPad Pro as a replacement solution for the gamer laptop). I am a amateur nerd and have owned and worked on a number of computers over the last 8 years, 90% of which were Windows systems. I chose the iMac for the following reasons - all-in-one (minimize cable clutter), the incredible clarity and beauty of the retina screen, the massive screen presence (allow me to do actual work as well as play) and just the sheer beauty of the unit. Have been using it for just over 3 months and here are my thoughts: Pros: a) The monitor/screen is worth every penny with just incredible color and accuracy; b) Creates an elegant looking work desk; c) The accompanying bluetooth/wireless keyboard and mouse are very pleasant to use (accept for some points noted in cons) and have a very long battery life between recharges [1-2 weeks depending on use]. Additionally the top of the mouse is touch sensitive and so scrolling and other actions are done using that. While the multi-touch gestures are not as extensive as avaible on the MagicPad, it does quite well for non-demanding users. Cons: a) More to do with the OS than the hardware, but every now and then I find the system slow to respond especially when using non-Apple applications like Microsoft Office - not the end of the world, but expect better. This is the negative 1 star for me; b) The mouse while elegantly delightful to use has a few quirks that I can only call design flaws. The edge is quite defined and doesn't allow what I would consider a comfortable and intuitive grip (unless you have small hangs with long slender fingers). Additionally the charging port is at the bottom of the mouse, which means you cannot use it while it is charging (that said it charges very quickly and so we are talking about not being able to use it for maybe 10 minutes). Easy fix is to buy a better mouse, but I take away 1/4-star for that. c) After only 3 months my harddrive died on me. While hardware failures of those sorts are known to happen, I expect much better QA from Apple and for such a pricey product. Additionally, the fact that I couldn't replace the drive myself and had to take it to the store for replacement is worth taking away another 1/4 star. A final couple of thoughts: 1) If you do a lot of office work (i.e. not design or audio-video), then the screen might be too big. There is a lot of travel (mouse-wise and eye movement) on a 27" monitor and it reduces efficiency when working on spreadsheets or power points. I find myself leaning back a lot. If that is the case I would recommend sticking with the 21.5" model. 2) If you are a multi-monitor sort of person, then there is no good solution with the iMac as there are no identical style screens available. In that case I would recommend a laptop with a dock and 2 HP screens instead (not as good as the retina display, but good enough)

I purchased this iMac to replace my late 2009 model. Pros: I still love the intuitive apple products; the screen resolution is exceptional; the transfer of data via Ethernet cable from my old imac to this one was seamless. Cons: with the exception of a quicker processing speed, there are no great innovations or significantly new features on this model manufactured 6 years later. Also, there is no CD port, so I can not burn photos on a CD.

I've been a PC guy for years and I have been using the Mac at school for 2 years. I liked it I still loved my PC until I saw this iMac at Best Buy and fell in love. I went on Best Buy online and it was on sale $1699 but then there was a Geek Squad certified one with an even better price $1512. It was a no brainer. I've purchased Geek Squad certified before so I trusted it. I ordered it on Monday 3/7/16 and it arrived at my house on Wednesday 3/9/16. I had to contain my excitement and did not open the box until Friday. The packaging was excellent completely secured in bubble wrap! I know this is early but it runs really smooth and super fast.......well that's because I maxed it out at 32gb ram. I still love my PC but I'm gonna really love this iMac too.
