Buyers beware of Non Apple Cables

Hello, I purchased these 6'-6" registered Apple Trademark cables and I am very pleased with them, the reason for the longer length is for my couch, the cable goes from the outlet under the couch to the front for convenience to charge all my apple products (except laptops) I have the iPad charger hooked up to the 6'-6" cable and it quickly charges my iPhone and families iPhones too. I just want buyers beware of the inexpensive online and cheap in mall fakes I know people buy the fake non trademark Apple cables to save money but after time they fail so spend a extra $20.00 and get well made cables. They also hold up to my grandson pulling the connector from the wire part of the cable. Oh if your in the market definitely get the longer cable. NOTE: I bought one more 6'-6" cable for my bedroom night stand that actually is long enough to use while laying down watching TV and texting too. Thank you for reading Reviews help consumers .

I like to stick with authentic Apple products (or any primary brand products) as much as possible, due to preference and reliability. With that said, I love the length of this cable, and I'm glad Apple made a cable twice as long as the stock cable that comes with the iPhones/iPods. I hope they will someday sell the same length cable that comes with the iPad Pros, which is even longer; I can see the benefit of having more options when it comes to cable length, in order to meet the needs of customers. As with my previous experiences with Apple cables, they're very well made and sturdy. I take good care of my belongings, so they always appear pristine after months/years of use. My only recommendation for Apple is that they make colored cables....cables that would even mimic the colors of their phones: gold, rose gold, space gray, silver, etc. Personally, I buy my HDMI cables from a particular company that makes them in different colors, which helps me differentiate which devices they're connected to in my entertainment system. I think this would be a nice benefit to have for households that plug in multiple Apple devices in close proximity.

After losing the lighting cable that was included in the box with my iPhone, I was tempted to buy a cheap $10 or $15 knock off like I usually do. I have tried countless lightning cables, only to have the tip break off in days or months, and I am not hard on my charging cables. Now, I’m not saying this charger is without flaws, as many I know—myself included—have had issues with the cord fraying or getting bent out of shape on the Apple Brand cables. The one thing I do like about some of the third party cables vs the Apple brand is the reinforced casing, whether it be fabric or just thicker, but I’d prefer a more sturdy connector that lasts. I’ve never experienced one of the Apple brand tips breaking or breaking off into my phone. I’ve had this one for a few weeks (thought not very long) and so far, so good! I also love how this particular model is about twice as long as the one you get with your phone. Money well spent!

First the MFI Certified non-Apple brand Lightning Cable that I was using as the USB input to my car stereo started to not recognize my iPhone SE on occasion giving "The device you are using may not be supported" message and would stop charging. Secondly the music quality was staring to get sketchy: as in sometimes the tone would be muffled, others it would be quieter than normal, then overly bright without any changes to the settings on my radio. It was getting to the point that I thought that I was going to have to start troubleshooting the radio, EQ, or Amps to find out what the problem was. Then the cable stopped charging my iPhone at all so it was time to replace it. I tore into the dash of my truck, removed the old cable, installed the new Apple Lightning Cable, and put everything back together. What a difference. The audio sounds better than ever and all of the little glitches went away. I guess as far as Lightning Cables go the Apple brand is the only way to go.

I don't know what it is, but Apple seems to know when you use cord that isn't an Apple brand cord. It's kind of annoying, especially when they keep changing the technology to "better" or "faster" whatevers so I have to go out and buy yet another cord. That being said, the Apple brand products always work right away when plugged in. The longevity however leaves a lot to be desired. Outside of my cords alone, I've seen countless charging cords from many friends of mine that get shredded at the joint fairly easily. For the price, they should have more durability built into these cords, especially when you pony up for the full price brand name cord. I recommend this cord so you know it works, I just don't recommend you being ever so slightly hard on it or it might break.

Charging our mobile devices is part of our daily lives. It happens from time to time, your mobile device has to be tethered to either a wall outlet or a mobile battery charger. Well, if your going to be tethered, why not give yourself some range? You won't believe how awesome it is to have a longer charging cable until you've spoiled yourself with one. Having to crouch down like Gollum next to your device while it's charging to check Facebook is goofy looking and uncomfortable. With 6.6' of charging cable your posture will thank you. I initially bought this with the idea that if I am ever somewhere remote and need to charge my device but need to use it at the same time, I could have a mobile charger in my back pocket or in a backpack and this cable will give me plenty of room to use my device while charging it. If you work on Video, Time lapse video, Stop motion, or anything that requires the screen to be on for a long time, tether to your power source with this cable and extend your fun time.

Apple accessories are EXPENSIVE - this chord is certainly no exception - $30 for a 6 foot phone chord is absurd. But if you're an Apple nerd like me, you pretty much have to pay the price. I've also found the life expectancy of Apple chords to be poor - they usually quit working after about a year - I've had THREE chords fail. The problem I've had is where the chord enters the USB or Lightning plugs - the chord kinks at that junction, will eventually start working sporadically (because the fine wires inside begin breaking) and eventually will fail completely. I've tried a 3rd party chord - it was reasonably priced but the Lightning adapter was poorly manufactured and quit working after only 2 months. At least the Apple-brand chords work - for a while - at great cost. As far as "Would I recommend this to a friend?" Apple has you - there's no reliable, alternative choice, so yes, if you need to charge an iPhone, I would "recommend" it.

I know Apple cables are uber expensive, but I thought I could save a couple dollars by buying it here at Best buy. But the first warning sign of trouble was when I opened the shipping envelope and discovered the cable came inside a small clear plastic bag instead of Apple's trademark white simple box. There was a UPC label on the bag, which corresponded to Apple's 2m cable, so maybe it was just in bulk packaging (heh, silly me for thinking that). The clear sign of a problem was when iTunes on my MacBook Pro would not recognize that my iPhone 6S was connected to it via this cable. Plugged in my Native Union Night Cable (which I normally keep in next to my bed) and the iTunes immediately recognized the phone. Doubtful the cable was defective because at least it would charge my iPad when connected to the wall adapter. Thus, the cable was obviously NOT a genuine Apple product.

The minute I plugged this cable in, I knew something was amiss. The first evidence? The small wormhole that appeared in our living room, right next to our holstein cowhide recliner. Peering into it I could discern the snarling face of a Ferengi, likely somewhere out in the Gamma quadrant. Then things got really hairy. Brad shouted from the kitchen that he was detecting elevated tachyon levels from our Vita-Mix, so we immediately diverted power to our forward Romco Rotisserie array. Set it and forget it, indeed. Still no go. The wormhole continued to grow. So I did what anyone in this rather awkward situation would. I recalibrated our George Foreman Grill (about 10 picometers), ejected the warp core from our Dyson Ball Vac, and unplugged all the Magic Jacks in the house. Bingo. No more worm hole. I guess what I'm saying is that you can use this cable, but only if you have substantial Star Fleet training.

Is it worth it to spend premium on this OEM product? I'd say NO. The reason: As costly as this is, the cable is poorly constructed. It is prone to twisting and tangling and there in lies the problem. Constant untangling of this cable will result in kinks, tears and breaks. The cable that came with my Iphone suffered this fate. Thinking it was just a cheap cable that came with the product, I sprung for the Apple cable . It suffered the same fate for the same reason. Mine lasted about a month because I kept it in my car and it couldn't handle high use abuse. My recommendation: Buy a quality BRAIDED cable that is tangle proof and made of stronger material. It will cost about the same as this and will last much longer.

As with almost every other product on the market, there are a ton of clones available. If you're looking for the real deal that guarantees compatibility and the full range of capabilities, then this is the one you have to go with! Ordered 2 of these online. Best Buy had them to the house very quickly, properly packaged, and undamaged. Apple is very proud of their goods which means we pay a premium, but it's worth it in the long run. These cables will last! The added length over the stock cables that come with the phone or tablet makes life a bit easier due to the convenience of being able to use while charging without feeling that you're tethered to the wall socket. It also helps in the car when the power outlet is about 2 inches too far away for the stock cable. Now I can use it with any power outlet of the vehicle and it will still reach either the center console or the windshield mount. Expensive, yes - it's genuine Apple. Worth it? Absolutely!

Being an avid yet new Apple user, I’m funny about using anything but genuine Apple products for the accessories of my iPad Pro 12.9 inch 512gb and iPhone 8 plus, but I needed extra length on my charging cord. Not only was this on an amazing sale, but it gave me more than enough length to use my products while on the charger. Now I don’t have to sacrifice quality and safety for convienence; you can’t ask for more! You’d think maybe you need to buy those crazy 9 or 10ft unsafe knockoffs that claim their “Apple mfi certified” but come on, let’s get real, it’s NOT the same thing or the real thing. There’s more length here than you realize and I highly recommend! Buy it, you won’t be disappointed and you’ll get better quality and longevity not only out of this accessory but the life of your battery and Apple product.

Don’t risk getting a knockoff cable on sites like Amazon or Ebay, which may damage your Apple product(s). This is a certified Apple product, which means that this cable is designed to provide the optimum flow of electricity to provide your Apple product(s) with a proper charge without compromising the internal battery and circuitry. I purchased this cord from Best Buy to have an extra cable in my car so I don’t have to remember to carry one with me when I leave the house. This way, no matter where I go, I won’t be without a cord for charging my iPhone. I’ll defintely be purchasing more of these Certified Apple cords in the near future to have at work, spouses car, bedroom, kitchen, and for my kids. I’m very happy with this purchase and the level of comfort that it will provide for me in the future.

I have to buy a new one of these at least every six months. The rubber sheathing around the Lightning end of the cable starts by bunching together ((or “turtlenecking” as an Apple Store employee referred to it) and recede exposing just the metal shielding which then quickly wears away exposing only the conductors and eventually one will lose contact with the Lightning plug and that’s it for the cable. I have had this happen wit every Apple 2 meter cable I have purchased, no matter the retailer. I have never had a problem with the one meter cables. I have to believe they are manufactured by different contract manufacturers. This isn’t a Best Buy problem, it’s a long standing Apple seems to not really care about fixing.

    Finally a Longer Cable!

It seems like it took years for Apple to offer a longer than 1 meter / 3.3 ft lightning cable (at least before I knew about); very glad they finally do! I would still like to see a 3 meter for some limited application, but I'm quite happy with the 2 meter as it works for most. The build quality on the apple cables (while better than the Chinese cables on eBay that last about a week if you're lucky) is not quite what I would hope for from Apple. I have seen more than a few that wear and begin to show wire at the lightning end after several months of regular use (e.g. my wife). If you are gentle with the cable (e.g. me) it will last for years. Additionally, if you have a LifeProof Case (specifically for the iPhone 6), this is the ONLY cable that will work. I like the durability of the Belkin 9 ft, but it will NOT work with the iPhone 6 LifeProof Case as it did for the 5/5S.

I need this cable for my iPad. the standard length cable that comes with the iPad is too short to use and charge at the same time. This 6ft long cable helps a lot when I have to charge and use my iPad at the same time. I don’t like after market cables since I notice the quality is not there. I’ve only had one apple cable fail on me with no visible damage on it and the apple store replaced it with a new one no questions asked. I just asked them if warranty covers cables and told them my cable stopped working. They didn’t even test the cable they just gave me a new (unboxed) one.

Same long cable as the iPad PRO

This is the same long cable that comes with the new iPad pro. The cable that comes with almost every other iOS device is often too short when you need to plug your device in behind a desk or night side table. This cable is twice as losing as that one. The reason it gets 4 stars is the fact that it has the same build quality as the other Apple cables, which means I will be buying another one in 6-9 months when the cable invariably the splits next to the connector end as it has with every other one I (and many others) have owned. Apple could have take the opportunity of redesigning the cable to fix this well known problem, but choose not to. The end is exactly the same as the shorter cable so there is no reason it won't work with a LifeProof case.

I normally keep my IPhone charger close to my bed to so I have juice to scroll through dozens of memes before bed. Normally I would have to cock my head to the left and my arms would be held high to ensure the charger didn't come out of the wall socket. Boy, I tell ya....it's quite a reach behind my headboard to go plug that puppy in. Thanks to this 6ft IPhone cable I can scroll, share and even get a good stretch whilst plugged into the charger knowing darn well it ain't gonna unplug! This was stellar buy...or should I say the "BEST BUY"!

The cable works, but certain Apple's cables have weak points that lead to split insulation over time. That means a high charge for a small piece of replacement wire and plastic. Is this planned obsolescence a good money maker for the company? I guess so. Considering how good most Apple designs are, the fact that certain cables can be problems doesn't seem like an accident. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but the laptop power cables with their magnetic connections are among the best in the industry, probably THE best. Not so in this case. What can we do? Well, cheap versions are available elsewhere and they seem to work fine, too, until they break- in other words, they are like the Apple product.
