Love the APM, very comfortable for all day wearing. 2 minor issues: 1. The ear cups start to smell but not wearing for a day makes them not smell. 2. The Noise canceling is decent, but really shines with background noise enabled. Otherwise Sony and Bose are better for ANC.

Beats vs. XM’s vs. AirPods Max

**Note: compared these to Sony XM 4-5, Beats Studio 3** Absolutely insane noise cancellation, probably the greatest sound I’ve heard from a headphone, and switching between devices and modes is seamless. On the flip side, these are HEAVY for most people, but I enjoy the weight personally. The ear cups are very comfortable, but the area surrounding the ear can get a bit of pain during extended use. Lastly is the price. It’s ridiculously expensive for what it is, however I grabbed them on sale a bit closer to typical over-ear headphone prices. But there is no chance I would buy them at full price. I’ve been looking for a headphone like this for so long and barring the two negative physical features, I’d use these for life.

    Apple AirPods Max Review

After using the AirPods Max daily for about a month, I can confidently say they are the best over-ear headphones I’ve ever owned. From the moment you take them out of the case, they feel premium — the build quality is unmatched. The aluminum ear cups, mesh headband, and overall weight distribution make them feel luxurious without being uncomfortable, even during long listening sessions. Sound Quality: The audio is incredibly clean and balanced. The bass is deep but not overpowering, mids are crisp, and highs are detailed without being sharp. Whether I’m listening to music, watching movies, or on calls, the sound feels immersive. Spatial Audio with head tracking genuinely adds a surround-sound experience — especially noticeable with Apple Music and Netflix. Noise Cancellation & Transparency: Active Noise Cancellation is top-tier. It blocks out gym noise, traffic, office chatter — everything. Transparency mode is just as impressive; it sounds natural, like you’re not even wearing headphones, which makes switching between the two modes seamless. Comfort & Fit: I was initially concerned about the weight, but Apple nailed the comfort. The mesh headband distributes pressure perfectly, and the ear cushions stay comfortable even after hours of use. I’ve worn them for work calls, flights, and workouts without discomfort. Apple Ecosystem Integration: If you’re in the Apple ecosystem, these are unbeatable. Instant pairing, seamless switching between iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and rock-solid Bluetooth stability make everyday use effortless. Battery Life: Battery life has been consistent and reliable. I easily get multiple days of use with ANC on, and charging is fast and convenient. Final Thoughts: Yes, the AirPods Max are an investment — but you truly get what you pay for. Premium design, elite sound quality, best-in-class noise cancellation, and flawless Apple integration make them worth every dollar. After a month of use, I have zero regrets and would absolutely buy them again. Highly recommend for anyone who wants the best wireless over-ear headphones available

I recently purchased the AirPods Max from Best Buy and I couldn’t be happier with both the headphones and the shopping experience. The sound quality is outstanding—clear, balanced, and immersive. Noise cancellation works so well that it blocks out background noise completely, and the Transparency Mode feels super natural. Spatial Audio makes movies and music feel like you’re in a theater.

I bought the AirPods Max (USB-C) in Midnight and have been using them daily for a mix of music, conference calls, and watching videos. I’m already in the Apple ecosystem (iPhone/Apple TV/Apple Watch), so I mainly wanted something that “just works” and sounds great. How I use them Music and podcasts at home and in the office Zoom/Teams calls Movies/shows on Apple TV Occasional travel/errands for noise cancelling Setup & Apple integration Setup was basically instant—open the case near my iPhone and it paired immediately. Switching between devices is the big win: moving from iPhone to Apple TV or a Mac is simple and usually automatic. If you’re already in Apple’s ecosystem, these feel like a “plug and play” headset. Sound quality The sound is excellent—clean, detailed, and punchy without being muddy. Vocals come through clearly, and the bass has weight without overpowering everything. They’re also great at lower volumes, which I appreciate. Noise cancelling & transparency The Active Noise Cancelling is the best I’ve personally used. It cuts out constant noise (fans, HVAC, background hum) extremely well, and it’s strong enough that I catch myself forgetting how loud a room actually is. Transparency mode is equally impressive—when I turn it on, I can have a conversation without taking them off. Comfort & fit This is where it’s mixed: The ear cups are soft and seal well But the headset is noticeably heavy, and after long sessions I feel the weight more than other headphones If you wear headphones for hours at a time, that weight may matter. Calls & mic For calls, they’ve been solid—people can hear me clearly and the noise cancelling helps in louder environments. I wouldn’t call it a studio mic, but it’s more than good enough for work calls. Pros Top-tier sound quality Best-in-class noise cancelling Transparency mode is amazing Seamless Apple device switching Premium build quality Cons Price is still hard to justify unless you’ll use them a lot Heavier than most competitors Case design is… not my favorite (but functional) Bottom line If you’re in the Apple ecosystem and want premium sound + the best ANC, AirPods Max deliver. If you’re cost-conscious or wear headphones all day, the price and weight are the main reasons to consider alternatives.

Incredible Sound and Comfort – Worth Every Penny! I recently purchased the AirPods Max, and I’m absolutely blown away by the quality! From the moment I unboxed them, I could tell these headphones were something special. The build quality is solid and premium, and the design is sleek and modern. The sound quality is truly next-level—crystal-clear highs, deep bass, and an immersive experience that makes music, podcasts, and even movies come alive. The Active Noise Cancellation is outstanding, completely blocking out the outside world and creating an incredibly focused listening experience.

Great noise canceling and battery life, I expected more from the microphone, however. I would stick to traditional air pods for work/personal calls. Otherwise a great pair of headphones for working out. They’re lightweight and don’t suffocate your ears, but without an adjustable head strap it can slide around a bit.

X7I have used SOny XM5, Focal Bathys, B&W PX7, but I got APM too late listening to the reviews but I am wrong, but these are the best based on my listening experience. Few things which are great compared to Sony XM5 and Focal Bathys, 1. Vocals sound excellent 2. Transparency (beats every headphone) 3. Dynamic sound, and spacious when the music is played 4. When connected to iPad/iPhone, switches to the device and understands where the music is played, best thing is, it transfers to iPhone from iPad when I receive the calls. No other headset provide this. Ok's 1. Microphone is good but not great compared to Sony XM5 2. Bass is missing for some songs compared to Focal Bathys, but its enough for me as I enjoy the dynamic sound on APM

Absolutely fantastic headphones, The first set we got didn't seem to grip my girlfriend's head. I returned the first pair that was a an open box item and purchased this new pair. This one has been great and fit is just right. They could certainly benefit from the option to grip tighter for those with small heads, but as far as sound and call quality they are excellent. I've spent a lot of time on phone calls with her when she has been outside by a busy road. The call quality was great and I couldn't tell she was out by a busy road.

The AirPods Max have always delivered premium build quality, exceptional ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), and spatial audio that’s hard to beat in the Apple ecosystem. But now, with Apple’s quiet update enabling lossless audio playback via USB-C to USB-C connection, they finally close the gap that audiophiles have been pointing out since launch. Lossless Audio Over USB-C The biggest upgrade: you can now connect the AirPods Max directly to your Mac, iPad, or other compatible devices using a USB-C to USB-C cable to enjoy 24-bit/48kHz lossless audio. This bypasses the limitations of Bluetooth compression and makes a noticeable difference for trained ears—especially when listening to Apple Lossless, FLAC, or high-bitrate files. While it’s not full high-res (e.g., 192kHz), the clarity, dynamic range, and separation are improved. Build & Comfort Still as durable and comfortable as ever. The stainless steel frame and breathable knit mesh canopy give a unique blend of luxury and function, though the weight remains on the heavier side for long sessions. Sound Quality Even before lossless, the AirPods Max delivered incredibly balanced sound with strong bass, detailed mids, and crisp highs. Now, with wired lossless support, the already excellent drivers are pushed further—especially for studio recordings and orchestral tracks. Noise Cancellation & Transparency Top-tier. Few headphones match the ANC capabilities of the AirPods Max, and the transparency mode is still one of the most natural on the market. Battery Life & Charging 20 hours of battery life remains standard, and USB-C makes charging more convenient—no more Lightning cable needed. Downsides • Still no power button; relies on case placement or time-based sleep. • Wired lossless only works through USB-C—not through the Lightning-to-3.5mm dongle or with analog sources. • Expensive, especially if you don’t fully live in the Apple ecosystem. Verdict The addition of lossless audio via USB-C gives the AirPods Max the audiophile credibility they were missing. They’re still very Apple-centric, but if you’re deep in the ecosystem and care about sound quality, these now feel like a complete package. Rating: 9/10 – Premium sound meets premium design—finally lossless.

I’ve enjoyed using the AirPods Max for their sound quality and noise cancellation. Switching between my Apple devices is effortless. That said, they’re on the heavier side. The price is high, and the case isn’t very practical, but if you’re already deep in the Apple ecosystem they are a satisfying experience overall.

As someone with multiple Apple Products these just make connection effortless. The sound quality is amazing and the weight is just right to know it’s there but not to cause fatigue on your head or ears. The difference between the noise cancelling and the transparency mode make is nice whether you want to block out the world or still be in it for awareness. The black is nice and sleek.

LOVE the sound and the new lossless / ultra low latency capabilities. But it’s still baffling that Apple didn’t at least update the chip to get them on par with the features of the AirPods Pro (Conversation Awareness, Adaptice mode, etc.). Also, as many people have no doubt reported, they are heavy (but this is not as noticeable as I thought it would be). And the case is, shall we say, weird at best. Also, I wish the USB-C port was on the left ear cup and not the right, but that’s just down to preference.
